NFL MVP honors

MVP #1, Peyton Manning. By him not playing he has proven that is the Most Valuable Player in the NFL. Had he started the season the Colts wouldn't be 0-10. That team didn't have a lot of turn around in the offseason. The only loss that team had was Manning. The Colts simply don't have a chance without him.

MVP #2. Fred Jackson. He has proven this by being the teams work horse. When opposing teams shut down Jackson, they shut down the Bills.

Neither of these guys are going to get MVP, but they should.

Or the guy that's gonna go undefeated.

But can you say without a doubt that Matt Flynn couldn't win with that team? Rodgers is great, but when Flynn stepped in for him Flynn played well too.

I agree Rodgers wins. But IMO it should be Manning. He didn't play, but the result of him not playing proves to me that he is the true MVP.

It is this exact mentality that has landed the Bills right where they are. He this backup can win, lets play him. No, Flynn would not be 11-0 with that team. He is no where near as good as Rodgers. How did that whole Cassell Brady thing work out anyway?

MVP is a one horse race in 2011-Aaron Rodgers and nobody else is even in the discussion.

That is silly. Manning wins the MSM Award (Most Sorely Missed). Now what he is proving this year, if the Colts come back and win 11-12 games next year with him, MVP hands down for the best QB in the NFL (before this season).

Rodgers is hands down the MVP, runner up - Drew Brees, 3rd - Fred Jackson (if he played a full year) but since he didnt, Matt Forte

Flynn in control of this Packers team would be AT BEST currently a 7 or 8 win team, Rodgers makes all the throws, runs the offense....their D is quite bad, they have no real running game, without Rodgers they are most likely a playoff team (and maybe not even that with the Bears/Lions) who loses in the first round...thinking anything different is extremely dumb

So why isn't this logic used on Freddie? We weren't winning with him, so how is he 2nd most valuable using your logic? Could you say without a shadow of a doubt this team still doesn't have 4 or 5 wins with CJ starting all year over FJ? CJ has been good ib his limited opportunities too this year...so in other words, No you can't...

Epic fail this thread is...Rodgers is already BETTER than Manning who is known more for fading in the games that count (playoffs) while Rodgers just keeps getting better and has been epic this year and last half of last year including playoffs and of course SB.

Manning is a great QB, but to take away what Aaron is doing this year and last year (when his team and offense dealt with a lot of key injuries to playmakers) is about as absurd as it gets.

Lurking silently beneath this thread is the 800 pound Gorilla.

Does MVP mean "Most Valuable to his team" or "Most Valuable to the NFL (i.e., league's best player)?" It usually goes to the biggest star, which means most valuable to the league. This is standard water-cooler stuff, and the fact that there's no clear answer from the league just means it will continue.

Clearly, without the slightest doubt, Manning is the most valuable to his team. The team is built around him. Yes, they arent really trying to win, but Jeez they look horrible. The defense is built of small fast guys who play with a lead. No Manning, no lead. Etc, etc, etc.

Yes, MVP tends to be a misnomer among all the sports that give the award. Most Outstanding Player is more accurate.
