The Bills also announced the addition of Tim Atkins as a football operations assistant replacing Pete Harris, who assumed a new role as scouting assistant. Typically in the old days, most of the time teams hired experienced coaches to be their scouts, as over their careers they'd seen what it takes to be a solid insert-position-here. Not a big deal. Always used to get into trouble with his friend Cockroach. One of the more notable things he did was when his girlfriend Justine dumped him, he sang her an impassioned version of a song he wrote for her, appropriately titled, "Justine." I don't know that the espn variety qualify as scouts. Be that as it may, our scouting has been crappy for years. Wouldn't you want all scouts who have some experience and success as.....scouts? In theory, all coaches are scouting their own players, and opponents weekly. Different lifestyle with travel, less teaching but not thaaaaat different. I disagree based on the fact that we got so much talent out of late draft rounds and undrafted players.
