Seeing we were born over a 18 year period I doubt we'll be dying en masse.

Okay... Correction... Groups of boomers en masse. ;) Anyway, I meant the big picture... Fiscally, around 2032 can't come any sooner... Then again, we will be dealing with their snot-nosed children... The "echo-boomers."

any comments on means testing for S.S. benefits and medicare? this really is delving into socialism in my opinion.... much more than anything else recently proposed or made policy...and it appears to be OK with both parties. this obviously gives those who paid in the most, the least benefits. I can't say that i like it honestly, but can see the need for it to keep medicare and S.S. solvent.

I got tired of OT "what was your favorite top 40 hit B side done by a dead cartoon rock band?" ... at least until I get banned. ;)

No one's a dumbass until I say they're a dumbass. Dumbass.

I know you are but what am I?

The real problem is that SSI became the dumping ground for every social ill of those perceived as poor or needy, when it was intended to be simply a socialized retirement program.

I laughed when Maggie Mahar said ""We all know that the poor die sooner. Poverty is stressful." Oh boo freaking hoo!

My great grandmother was born a decade or two after the Civil War, married a tenant farmer, raised 10 children, lived through two world wars, smoked a pipe, and lived to be almost a hundred. She was dirt farmer poor and I am sure she had her moments of stress!

So now that you've said it I guess I am vindicated.

No offense Rock, you seem like you have a good attitude.

I was referring to Mahar's remarks that the poor die younger because poverty is stressful. A lot of things are stressful. It is not the stress, it is how you react to stress that causes problems.

Sorry for the confusion. I missed that you were calling Rob a dumbass for calling me a dumbass, you dumbass.

None of my parents, grandparents or great grandparents ever used those favorite cliches to declare that my generation had it easier than there's. They did tell interesting stories that are a part of history we cannot afford to lose.

Example: You could always tell when spring was coming because the only pages left in the Sears catalog in the outhouse were the shiny pages!

No offense taken, except that part about me having a good attitude! heh.

Like your avatar, btw, but shouldn't that finger be pointed at your temple?

And one can react to the stress a lot better with a bigger wad of cash in their pocket!
