In fact, he feels it's a crime that should be punished to the fullest extent, and any man that puts a hand on a woman is not a man. He used "punch" for dramatic flair. Hypothetically speaking, I could see Janeane Garofalo or Rosie Odonnell deserving a slug to the kisser. Although neither one of them are hot and I'm not even sure that they qualify as chicks either. She seems very nice and is a very good reporter (I actually got to meet her when I covered Jets training camp in Cortland last season), but she definitely isn't "hot".
