How can you not love Kurt Warner?

From bag boy to probable HOFer the guy is just a great story. I'm surprised nobody in Hollywood has thought about making a movie about him. Maybe after his playing days are over they will. He's a little over-religious but hey I might think divine intervention if my life was like his.

He's fun to watch play. It's like rooting for the underdog.

Rarely do I agree with you and I'm starting to have second thoughts now about Warner, but I do have to say that he appears to be a class act, classic overachiever and is about as clutch as it comes. He's a classy winner!

Jesus Christ, what the hell has warner ever done to anybody. It is pretty pathetic, this board will go to no ends to support & justify the actions of a thug like Lynch; & that is exactly what he is, but people nitpick because warner brings up religion once in awhile. This guy is a hall of famer & one of the best that has ever played the position, & he has always done it with class & dignity. i usually agree with you deano, but your off base on this one imho. Good to have you back brother.

I was the only person on this board who didn't want to draft Lynch so you can spare me that. And I could care less about Warner's religion; if he takes pride in his faith, more power to him. Right or wrong, I just don;t get the sense he's as sincere as he makes out; and apparently I'm not the only one picking up on it.

You certainly would take him over the last ten years of loser Bills QB's.

Don't know about thumping Bibles, but the Cardinals just came away with a sweet victory. Here's to hoping the Bills can put on a show like that in the near future.

I was the only one who said it out loud as I spent the pre-draft period defending my reasoning. I do not recall one person agreeing with me on the multiple occasions it was discussed.

Anybody who is saying he's insincere, etc., please provide the links to such stories.......I've read nothing but good things, and I talked to somebody in the Cards organization, and he said what you've heard is what you get. He's as good a guy to anybody in the organization or anybody period as you can be.

I was just making a general reference to the extent people will defend a guy like Lynch. I was not referring to you.

Not sure why you picked my post to respond to, Gord, but I understand what you are saying. I tried to be very clear that it is just a feeling I have about him. Simon hit the nail on the head when he says he seems inauthentic...at least to me, that is how he comes across.

But I have no real vested interest in this, and don't develop hero worship with any actor/celebrity/etc. I KNOW that none of them are perfect, and that with most what we see is the image they choose to project. So when one stumbles and we find out he/she isn't perfect (which we already knew...right?) we act like we have been betrayed, or something.

When a public figure goes through troubles/gets arrested/gets exposed for some wrongdoing, it doesn't necessarily have a huge impact on how I feel about that person. I go in knowing that everyone has some issues, and so I'm not surprised. I look at the individual, the particular wrongdoing they have done (or been accused of), etc.

I admit I get disturbed by acts of horrid proportions (Mike Vick) and blatant hypocrisy (Eliot Spitzer). Most of the issues that get reported and reported and reported and reported, aren't of that nature. Am I really supposed to be surprised and appalled to discover Tiger Woods is a hound? If he was a child pornographer, I imagine my opinion of him would change.

And lets face it, sometimes a bad guy is just more likeable than a good guy. Not BECAUSE he is bad, and the other guy is good. Simply because he is more likeable of a human.

But the real questions to me, when it concerns an athlete in a team sport, are: Is he a good team player? Liked by his fellow teammates? Hard worker? Smart on the field? Does he give a full effort? etc. I think Warner looks pretty good when judged by that criteria. I'm not sure he is always a selfless teammate, but he certainly gives his all.

But that doesn't mean I have to like the guy or think his image is authentic. I would probably rather smoke a blunt with Marshawn than go to church with Kurt.

How's it going anyway, Gordio?

He is a good guy and his actions on and off the field prove it...I don't know how someone would come away thinking he's not authentic unless it's one one of those hormonal touchy feely kinda things I don't understand.

I live in AZ and my daughter went to school with his kids (public school). He's authentic. What you see is what you get and always friendly and approachable. If his faith keeps him sane in this crazy world, who are we to comment.

Going pretty good, can't complain. Daughter is 7 months old now, seems like just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital. Everything else is alright. Won $100 tonight on Arizona, maybe that is why I have a soft spot in my heart for Warner. LOL

If he would stop with the Bible thumping after every game it would be great.

I cannot stand players that thank God after a win. Do you think God gives two flying craps about the outcome of the football game? And moreover, why don't you every blame God after a loss? Keep the Church stuff at, well, church. It makes the reporter uncomfortable, it makes the audience uncomfortable.

How about thanking your offensive line and going to the locker room.

Honestly, what annoys you more, the fact that Kurt Warner means what he says and says what he means and acknowledges God who he believes has helped him through his life, or people sucking up and kissing butt to Tom Brady? Seriously, there are more important things to argue about, like bias in the media involving professional sports (see Tom Brady)

Seriously, why does everything that is meant for entertainment purposes or natural interest, whether in sports or in entertainment, always seem to be dragged into a political or religious debate???

Outstanding! Glad to hear things are good at home and the new daughter is doing well.

When does she turn 18?

:flirt:

He is a little over religious personally but he does not project it and try to influence others.

Kurt is a great player, plain and simple.

I think the movie idea is good if his life wasn't already so well documented; it is more of an NFL films documentary the way I see it.

What a player though, man, Kurt Warner is fun to watch. If he does not retire whats his name from USC that always loses to Vince Young, will spend another year on the bench, or maybe even get cut. He sux.

It's too bad that you have the screenname of such an awesome band when you have such a weak take. Yes, Warner is a good QB who has had the good fortune to have awesome weapons 2X in his career. However, when he had a less stellar supporting cast (see NY Giants) and OF coordinator, he was horrific.

I also cannot stand the "thank you Jesus!" poster boy that he seems to be. But I am from the old-school or religion (see non- born again, non-fundamentalist), where you set an example by the life you lead, not by the first microphone you get in front of. That aspect of Kurt Warner makes me want to puke in my suit. But, if you want him, you can have him.
