  1. some of you people must not be able to read... look at his stats in this paragraph... Sanders oversaw a Green Bay defense that tied for the NFC-lead with 22 interceptions and ranked fourth in the NFC with 28 takeaways in 2008. They also lead the league with six interceptions returned for touchdowns. In 2007, Green Bay’s defense ranked third in the NFL in third-down defense, sixth in scoring defense and 12th overall. In 2006, Green Bay ranked among the best pass-rushing defenses in the NFL. The Packers ranked first in the NFC (fourth in the NFL) with 46.0 sacks. Green Bay also ranked fourth in the NFL with 29 forced fumbles and fifth in the NFC in overall defense (11th in the league). WHAT IS WRONG WITH THOSE STATS PEOPLE? And...somebody said this article does not bode well...but read it again and apply some common sense... http://bleacherreport.com/articles/66611-g...strategy/page/1 It says he was bad on 3rd downs...but his Defense ranked 3rd in the NFL in 3rd-down defense last year. It also says that Phillip Rivers and Eli Manning are "Mobile" Quarterbacks!?! Ehhh...not quite! So, how credible is this article as a source??? The article also claims that the problem was that guys were out of place, not in the right gaps and they were "trying to do too much." So, that tells me that the players were not doing their job as they are taught to do...that my friends is not the coaches fault. They lost Johnny Jolly, Corey Williams and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila from last year's D-line. Bottom line...I think it is a great addition to our Coaching Staff, and certainly 100% upgrade over Bill Kollar. Just listen to some of the other points being made...it is a Defensive Coordinator taking over as our DEFENSIVE LINE COACH!
  2. thank you. i took some time to back up my argument that this guy could be something, again, with the right coaching. he seems to be mature and a hard worker with good character. i also read that he is very smart. let's hope he has a high motor!
  3. Pettigrew's blocking looks good at :57 seconds into this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBWke-myLQw His hands look damn good too... But, does he have character issues? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwdAfEWIvR8...feature=related Chase Coffman looks nice... James Casey is a BEAST! They call him "THOR!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Do82SBJKMk...feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lPFXDxRXqU...feature=related
  4. if they let greer walk, knowing mcgee's contract is up next year...it just might be jenkins. however, jenkins and mckelvin as our corners for the next 3-4 years would be awesome. just like winfield and clements. jenkins is a monster at cornerback...probably the best all-around corner to come out in years. i do not condone selecting him, but if greer walks and we do not extend mcgee, i say go get him if he is there. he is a top-5 talent this year, in my honest opinion. i REALLY wanted him last year before he decided to stay at OSU.
  5. I really like this guy. I think it is a pretty nice addition. I mentioned in another thread that I read about him coming out of College in a draft magazine. What I read was quite good reviews. I remember he was rated as one of the top Centers in the draft behind Mangold, Eslinger and Chester. He was projected as a 3rd-4th rounder. His measurements: Height: 6'3 Weight: 307lbs 40-Yard: 5.24 / 20-Yard: 3.04 / 10-Yard: 1.78 20-Yard Shuttle: 4.70 / 3-Cone Drill: 7.59 225lb Bench Press: 27 reps. Vertical Jump: 27 inches. / Broad Jump: 8'00" I did my homework on the guy though...I am sure he IS just camp-fodder, but I see potential. I think he could be a very good player, after some work with the right Offensive Line Coach. (Which we DON'T seem to have) Marvin Philip http://calbears.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/m...p_marvin00.html Not bad stuff...I like what I read about the dude. (Here is my paraphrasing of what is said about him) - He was a College Freshman in '00, left on a Mormon Mission from '01-'03, came back in '04, and graduated in '05. A Few Highlights: -2x All Pac-10 @ Center. -'04 and '05 Finalist for the Rimington Award. (College's Best Center) 2005: - Named Cal Golden Bears' Captain. - Started every game for Cal @ Center as a Senior. - 1st on team in Pancakes, 2nd on team in Knockdowns. - Preaseaon watch for the Outland Trophy. (College's Best Lineman) - Rated/Ranked as The Sporting News' Best/Top Center in the Nation. - Voted Cal's Most Valuable Offensive Player. - Received Joe Roth Award for Courage, Attitude and Sportsmanship. 2004: - Started every game for Cal @ Center...team led Pac-10 in YPG. - Voted as a 2nd Team Associated Press All-American. - Received Cal's Brick Muller Award as the team's Best Offensive Lineman. 2003: - Philip missed Cal's first 9 games after returning from his Mormon mission. He gained 30 pounds to get back to playing weight, regained his starting job as the team's Center. Then, get this...after missing the first 9 games of the season, he still LED THE TEAM in Pancakes and Knockdowns that year. - Received Cal's Bob Tessier Award as the team's Most Improved Lineman. 2000: - Philip started "several" games as a TRUE FRESHMAN (holding his own against teams such as USC and Arizona St.). He then sprained his knee and missed some games, before returning late in the season.
  6. Yes, he did. He was the starting Center as a Senior. However, Marshawn was a Sophomore, but he was also the starter. So in theory, yes he blocked for Marshawn when he was at Cal. I think he could be a very good player, after some work with the right Offensive Line Coach.
  7. is that not what i said 4 hours earlier...and i got sh-- for posting it? todd didn't give WVUFootball29 any sh-- for posting this, now did ya toddy boy?
  8. i am clearly aware that our coaching staff will be around for at least another year, and i am certainly not "whining." i was just sharing some news that i learned of early this morning, just like EVERYBODY else does on here. sooo...eat sh-- todd! thanks!
  9. so instead, you want us to draft this Darius Bey dude? don't ya think we have enough underachieving wide receivers? i have heard he will be taken in the 1st...so i would say "PASS!" I WOULD LOVE THIS DRAFT! 1: Brown DE/FSU 2: Caldwell C/Bama 3: Ingram TE/UF ESPECIALLY the DE from Florida State. But, honestly...I would rather get by this season, and hold out hope we can get Jermaine Gresham next year!
  10. yeah, wasn't he supposed to be a reasonably high draft choice coming out of college, but then he got injured? i am pretty sure this is the guy i am thinking of that i read about in a draft magazine that year. he was rated as one of the top centers in that year's draft, thought he was projected as a 2nd or 3rd rounder? then again, maybe not.
  11. signed by the carolina panthers for defensive coordinator position. also... san diego chargers hire ex-browns offensive coordinator rob chudzinski as assistant head coach/tight ends. he turned down the 49ers offensive coordinator job to join the chargers. and... dan reeves most likely will join the cowboys as a consultant to wade phillips. (i would have taken ANY one of these guys, in ANY capacity, with the bills.)
  12. i really like this idea. i think we need one of these kind of players...although we do NOT have an innovative offensive coordinator capable of putting together schemes to use a player like this. i enjoy watching what the jets do with brad smith and seattle with seneca wallace. (to name a couple) add a couple more (on a smaller scale)...49ers use michael robinson and the falcons have dj shockley.
  13. so basically you are saying Dick Jauron should just learn how to do HIS JOB?
  14. I think Deon Butler will be a good player in the NFL, and you have him being the LAST player drafted. I wouldnt mind having him on the Bills. I like Paterno coached players. I'm also a PSU fan. haha. What do you mean by "...trade residual"? Like, on the Roy Williams trade? Was the draft pick that was traded, performance based? That is probably why he was doggin' it and they werent getting him the ball...so they wouldnt lose a higher pick?
  15. dont know if anyone saw this one... http://www.newyorkjets.com/ *his video message/introduction to the fans. he says..."blah blah blah...but we WONT be one of those bend, but don't break defense." I have liked him for a couple years, thought he would be a good coach. I think he will succeed within time. He has the makings of a pretty good defense there. If he can keep Favre and draft a young guy, get one somehow, I think they will might win the division if Brady is out. New England is declining...quick fast. Not really sure what Buffalo is up to?
  16. is that why obama and his people purchased tuxedos and dresses for less fortunate people from the white house "neighborhood," so they could attend his "neighborhood ball" tonight. obama is about helping the less fortunate. all he talks about is creating more jobs for people in this country. you sound like a conservative idiot. GO FLUTIE! :worthy:
  17. willie james huff, better known as "funky chicken"...is that you?
  18. http://www.nfl.com/superbowl/story?id=0900...mp;confirm=true *when buffalo came back in games, they could handle the adversity. we could not handle the success.
  19. stay away from "Hardy" boys. if we draft him, he will be a non-factor after his first 2 games next year, get injured and miss most of the following season. although i like james hardy and he is the WR i wanted (besides malcolm kelly)...i dont see him being much. i dont know much about greg hardy the DE...havent seen him play enough.
  20. please help me understand why a 6-7, 260lbs pass-rushing DE with 4.6 speed DOES NOT fit in our pathetic defensive line?
  21. didnt leinart start for arizona? then they replaced him with kurt warner? leinart was a much higher draft pick and more highly touted than edwards was. look at arizona now. not a bad move. didnt young start for tennessee? he got replaced by collins? young was a much higher draft pick and more highly touted than edwards was. look at tennessee now. not a bad move.
