  1. So Cal Val is very hot
  2. What's a "MORAN"? Erin Moran from Happy Days? What a MORON!!
  3. With Edwards benched, what excuses will the WR's have for not getting open?
  4. If the Bills could get a pair of 2nd rounders for Evans (like the Broncos did from Miami), then the Bills should go for it. The WR's aren't getting open and you don't pay a WR $9+ mil a year if he can't constantly get open. You give $9+ mil to an Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Vincent Jackson...guys that have the physical ability to shed the double coverage. There's no question, Edwards is not a franchise QB. I wouldn't mind keeping him as a backup, but that's about it.
  5. This past offseason, Nix & co spent the majority of the draft/FA on beefing up the defensive front 7. This offseason, the offense needs a major overhaul.
  6. Here's my short list of players that I would keep: Wood Levitre F. Jackson Lynch Spiller Stupar (as a backup) S. Nelson (only because we don't know how he looks this year) D. Nelson (only for red zone potential) Everyone else can be cut or traded. Hangartner was tossed like a rag doll by Matthews for his 1st sack Evans could not get open, you don't pay a WR 9+ mil for someone that can't get open and make plays. The Bills should trade him and get someone like Vincent Jackson that can get open and has the ability to shed double coverage. Evans can't do that. S. Johnson & Parrish had 2 costly mistakes. Keep Bell as a backup, but get rid of Green. Hate to say it, but Vick is the type of QB we need with this bad O-line. Vick is looking good so far in Philly. It sucks to be thinking about the offseason already, but the whole draft needs to be focused on the offense.
  7. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/9/15/1691073/bills-what-went-right-what-went An interesting read. I agree with the author that Edwards needs to learn to pump fake, that way he doesn't have so many batted down passes. I like Gailey showing confidence in the team by going for the 63 yard FG & also going for it on 4th & 11. Like the author said, those are things Jauron wouldn't have done.
  8. Like Mike said, great post! The biggest problems with the defense last year were the run defense, lack of a pass rush and getting wore out in the 4th quarter. So far, 2 of the 3 looked to be resolved. If the defense can keep this up and the offense can start making some head way, IMO the Bills will have a Top 10 defense this year. We have one of the better secondaries in the league, the run defense so far looks much improved along with the front 7. I hope in the offseason, the Bills can draft a pass-rushing OLB that can generate a lot of pressure on the QB. Once the D can start getting consistent pressure on the QB, our defense will be amongst the best in the league (IMO).
  9. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2010/9/14/1686949/bills-run-defense-didnt-break#storyjump "Buffalo's rushing defense held Brown to 65 yards and Williams to 62. The combined 127 yards is twelve over what each back gained individually against the Bills in a single game a season ago. Yes, they gave up over 100 yards on the ground, but as a team, the Dolphins were held to 3.7 yards per rush." That's a good improvement. Last year, the Dolphins and Jets ran all over the defense. "When the Dolphins got the ball with less than two minutes left, the Bills' run defense forced them to go three and out, giving the offense one more chance. That alone should show you the difference between last year's unit and this year's. At least it was a chance." I know it's only one game game, but so far so good with the new strength & conditioning program. If this was last year, the defense would have let one of the Dolphins RB's break loose for a long rushing TD on one of those final drives.
  10. Not trying to defend Nix, but he said he doesn't like to bring in "high profile" players. If Green plays this pathetic the rest of the way, he'll be out of here at the end of the season. Green was only going to be a stop-gap at RT, until Nix could draft one.
  11. I wouldn't say that. Mike Nolan, Miami's defensive coordinator, is one of the best in the league. Nolan helped turn around the Broncos D last year and the Broncos D finish at #7.
  12. Green was a quick fix after Butler announced his retirement. So far, Green does look like a royal bust, if he is, then it's on Nix. But does one player so far make him a bad GM? Even the great GM's don't hit on every player. Look at Tony Ugoh in Indy. Does that mean Polian is a bad GM?
  13. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2010091300/2010/REG1/ravens@jets#tab:analyze Sanchez 10/21 74 yards, That's royally pathetic. The Jets total offense had 176 yards for the night, granted it was 10 more yards than us on Sunday, but at least we scored a TD. I thought the Jets were going to the Superbowl this year? All this talk offseason about how they were a team of destiny...yeah, they really looked like it last night.
  14. It depends, or unless you're Tom Arnold?
  15. I agree about Miami's D. But, one thing we all should be impressed with, is that the Bills D did not allow a RB to run for 100+ yards. Last years run D was horrific, so it's nice to see an improvement.
  16. LOL at Cooter. Nix can be Boss Hogg. I'm hoping for a better turnaround on offense, like the Bills did this preseason. If not, then you're right.
  17. I agree, I wasn't expecting the Miami D to look that good.
  18. Great post! The defense & special teams looked better yesterday. But, the offense has got to rebound from this. I'm hoping that since this was the first week of the Mike Nolan defense in Miami, that Gailey & co will be better prepared next time for them next time. I created a thread about that, but I got bashed because of it.
  19. It's obvious that the Bills coaches didn't know how to prepare for Mike Nolan's defense. Besides the one drive for a TD, Gailey had no answers. When it seemed like the Bills were starting to get some momentum on offense, it was crushed by holding penalties. It's was just a very bad day for the offense. The defense & special teams did their jobs yesterday. I was impressed for the first time with McKelvin yesterday.
  20. As of right now, Miami has the top rated defense with only allowing 166 yards. If you look at what Mike Nolan (Miami's DC) did as the Broncos defensive coordinator last year, the Broncos D was the strong point on the team. Last year, their defense finished at #7 http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?archive=true&conference=null&role=OPP&offensiveStatisticCategory=null&defensiveStatisticCategory=GAME_STATS&season=2009&seasonType=REG&tabSeq=2&qualified=true&Submit=Go I was reading on bb.com, that Gailey & co were having a hard time game planning for Miami's defense, because of bringing in Nolan. In the preseason, the Miami D was vanilla, so they had to look at what the Broncos did last year. It's obvious that Nolan outcoached Gailey as Gailey couldn't find answers to the Miami D. Can Gailey get the offense to rebound? In the Bills first preseason game, the offense looked horrible (like yesterday), but the offense rebounded and played well in the next two games. I'm hoping Gailey can do that with the offense again. Only time will tell throughout season if Nolan and the Miami defense are really that dominant, and if the Bills offense is that horrible.
  21. I love the reading comprehension by some on this board. Above in my post, I stated how the refs were favoring the Fins and I even said that the offense played lousy, but yet all I hear "the offense blew the game", "this post is stupid". Fine, if you think that "non-call" had no impact on the game, then good on you. (Before you respond, you don't need to tell me about how bad the offense was, we already know!)
  22. The penalty would have put the Bills in FG position. If the Bills kick the FG, then I believe the Bills have 6 points on the board at that time. After the Parrish TD, the game would have been tied 13-13. I'm not saying the Bills would have won the game at that point, especially with the way the offense was playing, but the Bills got screwed out of that chance. Like another poster stated, blown calls by the refs should be allowed to be challenged.
