You always take BPA as long as it's something you don't have a surplus of. Careers in the NFL are too short and there is no guarantee any player will be a "star". They stick to their board and take who they have rated highest. Now if they have a group of players all relatively the same grade then you can start going with the higher need

Some believe that DeJean is a future 4-5x all-pro. If Beane views him as that I don't see how he could pass on him. Very likely is the BPA at this point as well. However there are players that fit the bill at 4 positions there right now. Newton at DT, DeJean at S/CB, McKinstrey at CB and Mitchell at WR. They could maybe be OK with taking any of those 4 and maybe be willing to move down 3 picks and take whatever one is left or pick from those 4... Beane has a ton of options right now in this spot.

Trade for one and draft one. Nobody they pick now is walking in and being a #1 WR this year. Even if they drafted BTJ, he might not have even been a #1 WR. The only surefire #1 WRs in the draft were the top 3. Lots of slot WRs and guys with a lot of potential 2 and 3 WR capabilities, but we already have those.

I'm not even sure they are taking one. I wouldn't be surprised to see them trade down again or trade the pick for a WR on a roster already. Or take Cooper Dejean.

He is probably fielding calls from half the teams about pick 33 tomorrow...he might be able to get a better deal than what he got for 32.

I'm reserving judgement until I see what happens. I think something is in play outside the draft, ie, building up capital to trade for a WR on a roster already.

Bills going to have a LOT of offers and might even get more than they did with the Panthers trade.

Bills love giving the Chiefs key offensive weapons by trading down with them... SMFH... Why would you allow them to take the next Tyreek Hill in that offense?

None of those draft classes had the ridiculous riches at the WR position that this one does tho. Every draft is different. Can't really just compare them on their face.

Believing anything anyone says at this time of year is a fools errand. If they are talking about the draft at this time of the year, they are lying or at best telling half-truths or statements with a glimmer of truth. Count on it.

Yup, I talked about this exact same thing a few months ago...how fewer and fewer underclassmen are declaring for the drafts now due to this.

Elam isn't a failed first rounder. Most of the time when he plays, he plays pretty well. He has had some key INT's in big games for us at big times and in the endzone. Pittsburgh in the playoffs last year for example. For some reason, McD is unwilling to let him play and learn. Injuries have played a part in it, but I don't really understand how almost everytime he is pressed into duty(other than the Jags game where his ankle was basically unable to function properly) and he makes plays that you keep taking him out. He hasn't been given the opportunity really, and maybe he hasn't earned it in training camp or practice or preseason or whatever. But Goddamn, how many big plays does he have to make IN REAL LIVE GAMES THAT MATTER before you give him a chance? Does McD have some secret agenda where he simply dislikes him to the point he will only play him if forced to?

That's basically the Diggs contract with maybe a few million more dollars guaranteed. So, no?
