  1. This is true. About 2/3 of all NFL revenue comes from the massive TV contracts (last year about $5 billion), which are expected to increase year-over-year through 2022. Every team is profitable due to the TV money.
  2. That's the whole point. It spurs development in an otherwise underdeveloped area. Many cities have used stadiums to create a renaissance in areas of urban blight. Denver (Coors Field) comes to mind as an example. It's not about what the area looks like now, but what it looks like 20 years from now. From a transportation and preservationist standpoint, the Central Terminal area has a lot of merit. Land is dirt cheap there too.
  3. From down here in Nashville, Kenny Ladler was the heart-and-soul of Vanderbilt's defense the past few years. The kid is just a player. 40 time be damned, this kid has a great shot of making the team this year.
  4. I have refused to buy any Bills merchandise for the past several years pending assurance that the team stays in Buffalo. As soon as that happens (assuming it does) I'm buying all sorts of Bills stuff. My thought is I don't want to hand money to an owner who then moves my beloved team elsewhere.
  5. Unfortunately, message boards seem to be conduits of hate speech and negativity. For an openly gay player to get drafted into the NFL is most definitely news worthy. Some folks are too homophobic to separate the newsworthiness of the story from their disdain for the lifestyle.
  6. This kid can play. I'm a Virginia Tech season ticket holder, so I watch Duke a lot. Ross pretty much shut down all of Tech's receivers last year. Graduated in 3 1/2 years from Duke with a real major (Political Science) and is 1/2 way through a Master's Degree.
  7. McShay is right. James Gayle of Virginia Tech absolutely dominated Cyrus in the opener. Maybe he was just off that game...
  8. Detroit prioritized the defensive line when Schwartz was there. They drafted DL (Suh, Fairley, and Ansah) in the first round of three of their last four drafts. That alone makes me believe they might have a serious interest in Clowney at #1.
  9. Two words sum up my reasoning for now wanting Sanchez... BUTT FUMBLE
  10. I'm shocked at how strong our draft class was this year. Regardless of how this year turns out, for once we look like we may have "hit" on all of our top picks: Manuel, Woods, Alonso, Goodwin. One more strong draft and I really like the future of this team. And, it has been YEARS since I have felt this way about the Bills.
  11. I guess they take losing seriously out there in Oakland.
  12. ...and posters continue to find ways to misspell the word "lose."
  13. True, but I don't have to shovel heat! It always cracks me up how defensive Buffalonians get when anyone says anything that can possibly be construed as negative about their city... it's like they're defending their child! I've lived in 9 states (including my first 18 years in Buffalo) and there are, of course, pros and cons to all areas. Go Bills!
  14. If you like awful winters, high taxes, and a woeful economy then, yes, Buffalo is a great place to live! Second highest poverty rate of any big city (32.9%), trailing only Detroit. Woo-hoo! *ducks and runs for cover*
  15. Indecisive, not able to feel the rush, etc. you can maybe chalk up as rookie mistakes... But those picks he threw were really terrible throws. Can't blame being a rookie on throwing a ball 5-10 yards behind a receiver. Geno just has this clueless look about him. More-and-more I'm glad we drafted EJ.
  16. Nobody... and I mean NOBODY... circles the dumpters... like the Buffalo Bills!
  17. The obvious reason why we kept only two QBs is EJ is okay and will start Week 1 (despite the press smokescreen) with Tuel as his backup. The Bills certainly need another corner, but good cornerbacks and few and far between. Another inside linebacker would make sense - those guys are always needed for special teams. As for the third player???
  18. I've always thought we could do better than Choice as a 3rd string running back. Dwyer or one or two others would be an upgrade over Choice. IIRC, Choice was originially brought in because he played for Chan at Georgia Tech.
  19. I like Roc Carmichael (former Texan) for a look at corner.
  20. Here is the list of available CBs. Who would you bring in for a tryout? http://espn.go.com/blog/buffalo-bills/post/_/id/196/breaking-down-cornerback-market-for-bills#more
  21. I sure hope Robey covers guys better than he returns punts.
  22. We had 5 drives in the second half and all were three-and-outs. A whopping 37 yards of second half offense. Overall we were out-gained 477 to 170. Ouch.
  23. 5 drives in the second half and all 5 were 3-and-outs. Had a whopping 37 yards in total during the second half. I'm not sure how much of that was rushing, but it wasn't much. Edit: 15 yards rushing in the second half.
  24. "Only winners get wings" ... no wings for the Bills.
  25. Is Duke Williams better than Searcy? He has to be...
