  1. ...from NFL superstar to a life of salad tossing.
  2. There is nothing more annoying than people who don't know the players, haven't seen them on the field in college, yet blindly quote statistics as if stats tell the entire picture. Did you watch them play? What did you see? I watched almost every game each played in college, many in person in Blacksburg, Tallahassee, Baton Rouge, and various other locales. Two totally different teams. Two completely different talent bases on each offense. Tyrod made plays by himself because he had to. He took off running because he had to since his line couldn't hold blocks. He won games by himself because he had to. EJ was surrounded by NFL talent whereas Tyrod didn't have that luxury. That VT went to crap after Tyrod left isn't a coincidence. I'm fine with people wanting EJ to be good. I want him to be good. But, there is a reason the Bills are loading up the roster with QBs to compete with him this off-season.
  3. I'm a 20+ year Tech season ticket holder (graduated in '93) and honestly, some of the comments from folks in this thread who haven't seen Tyrod play and don't know anything about him are just silly. Our objective is to add competition to the QB position and the Bills have done that. Tyrod is an excellent athlete and was a better college QB than EJ (Tyrod was ACC player of the year his senior season). Obviously Taylor was stuck behind Flacco in Baltimore so it makes sense for him to jump at the opportunity to compete for a starting job. Personally, I predict EJ will be cut and we'll start the season with Cassell and Taylor as our two QBs. Tyrod has all of the intangibles (e.g., leadership, knows when to run and knows when to take a chance with a throw, winner at all levels) that EJ lacks. We shall see...
  4. From down here in Titan's country, I hope they sign Jake Locker. Kid is hurt a lot, but he improved year-over-year in terms of accuracy and reading defenses. He should come cheap given the injury history. It is slim pickings for QBs - we won't find anyone who doesn't have some flaws - so why not sign a couple of reasonably priced guys then let them fight it out in training camp?
  5. The Bills had one of the best defenses in football without Kiko. That's a very clear indication that Kiko was/is expendable. McCoy is expensive, but we need a 1a running back and he is one of the best in football. Not sure why people don't like this trade. The team has sucked forever. Now they are making bold moves and taking chances. I like the change in mentality I'm seeing at One Bills Drive. Maybe we'll srike out, but we're at least swinging for the fences.
  6. I assume the thought is to do something similar to Atlanta where the domed stadium is connected to the convention center and can be used for larger conferences that need extra space. An outdoor stadium does give you the possibility of other events like national team soccer matches. Pros and cons to each.
  7. Tyrod can play and should be in the consideration set. He is a much better athlete than most of the starting QBs in the league. Does he have a big enough arm to make all the throws might be the biggest question. I like the idea of bringing in a couple of guys and letting them compete for the job and he's a guy who is worth a shot if the price is right. (Like the OP, I saw him play for 4 years at VT)
  8. Orton gets sacked. What a shock.
  9. Kyle Orton is a 10-foot-tall beast man who showers in Vodka and feeds his baby Shrimp Scampi
  10. If his confidence is shot (which it appears to be), this is probably the best thing for EJ. It removes the pressure for a couple of weeks, lets him "recalibrate" and then if Orton fails, he comes back in with added confidence given the knowledge that his veteran backup QB couldn't do any better.
  11. So your point is that Manuel hasn't received "good coaching" and he can legitimately lead this team to a championship (or at least the playoffs) with "good coaching?"
  12. EJ seems to spend most of his time trying to avoid negative plays rather than seeking positive "winning" plays. There is a big difference in mentality between the two. I think the comparison to post-concussion Trent is a good one at this point.
  13. EJ looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane.
  14. I always DVR games and rewatch them if I can. In particular, it is a great way to focus on o-line and d-line play.
  15. People can react to the loss however the hell they want. It's not your job to tell others how they are "allowed" to think.
  16. EJ was really terrible today. Even the most ardent EJ supporter has to admit that. 7 for 21 on passes to receivers? He needs a good road outing next week to keep the critics at bay. I am pulling for the kid, but he needs to grab victories instead of avoiding defeats. There is a difference.
  17. Did you know playing cards with Kenny Rogers gets old pretty fast?
  18. I'll take 3-0. IMHO, Buffalo sports fans have been programmed to accept mediocrity since we've seen so much losing over the years.
  19. Too soon. It'll take a few more weeks of something similar for the coaches to pull the plug.
  20. EJ is just a very conservative QB by nature. I think that is fine in close games when our running game is getting it done. But, he seems not to know when it is time to take some chances. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded a pick at the end of the game if he was throwing a 50/50 ball to take a shot down field given the game situation. I do mind him taking check downs and sacks when down 2 scores deep in his own end. Know what the game situation calls for.
  21. Good god. We're down 2 scores deep in our own territory with 6 minutes left. Might be time to take some shots down field, EJ. 2 yard passes aren't going to cut it.
  22. Good god. We're down 2 scores deep in our own territory with 6 minutes left. Might be time to take some shots down field, EJ. 2 yard passes aren't going to cut it.
  23. Some of these passes aren't even close. I get that it's windy, but EJ better get used to it because that's par for the course at The Ralph.
  24. What the crap was that EJ? Wasn't even close to anyone. Argh.
