  1. You know what...There are a TON of dumb Post here every day/week/year...But that has to rank in Top 100 dumb posts of all time at TSW... Just a little hint for you...Over-generalization gets you nowhere, proves nothing, does not make you smart or clever...It just makes you look like someone who cannot back up his opinion with facts so you're going to overgeneralize and TRY to belittle Folks so they back down...That will NEVER work on TSW...EVER...You will be challenged because there are some REAL smart Football minds around here regardless of the occasional idiot that pops in and out... So...Yes Ryan Fitzpatrick is < Jim Kelly... No Ryan Fitzpatrick does not suck...But he's also not a Franchise QB...Not even close up to this point...He's a career 12-23 QB as a Starter with a 73 lifetime QB rating... Dalton/Mallett/Kaepernick may or may not be better than Fitz...We'll see in a few years...Mallett and Kaepernick CLEARLY have a higher upside than Fitz...No one knows if they'll ever reach that upside...Jim Harbaugh and Bill Belichick are betting on the fact they will...Those 2 NFL HC's know more about Football than you do... The Bills STILL need a Franchise QB of the future, a FACT that their GM and HC FULLY admit...A FACT that several Folks around here understand...But we also understand the Dareus Pick and the lean towards Defense in this Draft...It does not change the fact that we don't feel like Fitz can be a consistent winning QB in the NFL...And if we're lucky, we're wrong...We'll see... Now you may return to over-generalize to your hearts content...
  2. I know right... I absolutely LOVE Mayock...But he's not 100% Folks...None of these guys are...Even God himself...I mean Belichick ( ) gets it wrong sometime...And Mayock was not necessarily negative about Sheppard, he simply said he had him a Round later... The thing about Sheppard is, first and foremost, they had him at the Sr Bowl and he answered any questions they had about him going sideline to sideline...In fact it seems like, based on what Gailey said, he blew them away there...They obviously had no questions about his durability, Leadership capabilities, or overall athletic ability...They're looking for a Starting ILB in the 3-4 to plug in next to Poz...I think this Kid fits like a glove...I really do...I think he's got a darn good chance to start Week #1 and that's REALLY saying something for a 3rd Round Pick...In fact I think his chances to start are WAY better than Aaron Williams and they got Sheppard a Round later...I think the comparisons to Tally are actually pretty fair...I just don't see a downside to the Sheppard Pick...I REALLY like that Pick...
  3. Well...This is straight from Buddy... On if there would have been more consideration if Dareus had gone No. 2 to go offensively or with QB Blaine Gabbert: BN: Very likely, yea. On how the quarterback position has sorted itself out based on his expectations: Obviously there were some shockers last night. But we’re to the point, and I think I’ve said this a lot of times, but with the first pick we wanted a franchise guy. If he wasn’t there then we were going to get better on defense and work on needs if the right guy was there. We are still going to go to camp with probably four quarterbacks, so that’s not to say we won’t take one in the draft, but it’s also not to say we wouldn’t go after a veteran to be a back-up for us and then take another arm to camp. He might be a college free agent. On if how it (the quarterbacks) fell affected the team’s game plan much: Maybe a little bit. We didn’t think Marcell (Dareus) would be there. Now the whole thing leading up to it until the last day or two, we thought he’d be gone. But when he was there and (Cam) Newton was gone, he was there, it was an easy pick. So...QB at #3 became secondary when Cam was gone and Dareus fell to them...Makes sense...The run on QB's in the 1st Round made getting one at #34 that they were comfortable with as a potential Franchise QB impossible...Again, makes sense...There's no indication, based on what The GM said, that they think Fitz was better than any of the Top QB's in this Draft or that they would not have Drafted a QB that was not named Newton...There is every indication that's not the way The Draft fell and they stuck to their Board... There comfortable with Fitz Folks, that's all...They were still looking for a Franchise QB though, which tells you EXACTLY what they think about Fitz longterm...And they absolutely felt there were QB's that were better longterm options than Fitz in this Draft...It just did not fall in such a way that one of those QB's would be available when they Picked, and Buddy is not big on moving around...
  4. Buddy pretty much said today we would probably get a Vet UFA AND maybe even an Undrafted FA...He said we would got to Camp with 4 QB's...
  5. I tend to agree a bit...Young and Smith actually have similar Stats, though Young is clearly the better runner of the two and has a much better Won/Loss record over the past 2 Years...But I agree about the Coaching Smith has received...I am not a Singletary (as a HC) fan at all, and I would assume any QB would struggle under that guy regardless of the Offensive Staff...I just think Singletary was in WAY over his head...And I realize he's not an Offensive HC, but I think a HC and a Starting QB go hand in hand...You need a REAL strong HC when you're bringing along a young QB...And even then sometimes it does not work...Look at VY as an example of a young QB who failed under the best of NFL Coaches... I should mention though that I've heard the Coaching argument brought up about Smith a few times and not everyone agrees...There are quite a few "experts" out there who feel he simply is an average QB...Nothing more...
  6. Here's why
  7. You do know the Kid has cancer right? It's treatable (a success rate for beating the cancer he has - non-Hodgkin lymphoma - is better than 90 percent), but it's still cancer...
  8. Well 1st off the Post was in response to finding a Franchise QB because once again someone brought up Brady like it happens all the time...It doesn't...NFL Network just had a 3 Part series on drafting QB's and the vast majority of Starting QB's come from earlier in the Draft, and the likelihood of finding one goes down with every Round...8 out of the 12 Playoff Teams from 2010 had a QB who was Drafted in the 1st round, another was drafted in the high 2nd, and the two Teams who finished with 10 wins and missed the playoffs have 1st Round QB's...Considering Franchise QB's, it's FAR more rare to find one late than it is to find a Starting DT late...It's not the same for every Position when comparing it to Franchise QB's...It's more rare to find a late Round or Undrafted Franchise QB than it is to find a late Round or Undrafted Position Player...That's just the way it is...You can try to do it anyway you want...But if you want a Franchise QB the odds say Draft one earlier...Period...End of story...
  9. I swear sometime it's like the Fitz police around here...The original comment was a generic comment about the difficulty of finding Franchise QB's late in the Draft...That's all...It was in response to yet another post about how QB's, like Brady, are found late in the Draft...Which is actually about as rare as it gets in the NFL...That's all...I never said the Bills should have Drafted a QB, I never mentioned Fitz, or that they should have addressed QB early...I'm thrilled with the Draft so far...It helps to read back and see what the context of a Post is about...
  10. Seriously? You know the odds of finding a Tom Brady caliber QB in the 6th Round? Let's see there's Brady, then there's... The truth is the odds of finding a Franchise QB decrease with every Round that goes by...That's fact...Not saying you can't find one late...Just saying the odds are REALLY against it...
  11. We'll see...He's going to be a Rookie...He was the #34 Overall Pick in a terrible Draft Year for DB's...I like Williams, but projecting him to start as a Rookie in the NFL is a HUGE stretch...As a 5th or 6th DB he should do very well though as he learns his craft...
  12. Where's Rudolph?
  13. This is EXACTLY what I believe to be the problem with a lot of Bills Fans when they evaluate Fitz...They're comparing him to JP and Trent and not to the better NFL QB's...
  14. Agreed...And My feeling is bash away...That's what Local Sports Talk does some time...But TALK about The Bills and be pasionate about your Home Town Sports...Especially when one of the Sports is The NFL! And especially during the NFL peak times, the Draft being one of them...I figure if I can get my brain bashed in by Buffalo Bills Football year after year, and yet keep coming back every year for more, the least someone can do who is getting PAID to talk about it is ACT like they care...
  15. Agreed... I'm not saying the Bills can't win with Fitz at QB because I can't see into the future...I am saying that winning consistently, winning 10 Games or more in a Season with the QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has been thus far in his career is almost impossible...He's going to have to get MUCH better...And it's a stretch at this point to assume a QB with a 12-23 Record as a Starter and a career 73 QB Rating is going to be able to improve that much...Even though 2010 was by far his best season so far Fitz is going to have to do MUCH better for The Bills to be a consistant winner...I'm not a gambling man, but if I was I would not bet on Fitz...Not yet anyway... Cherry picking? It could be easily be explained as how Fitz did after Teams got a few weeks of Game Film on him...I don't see how that's cherry-picking...It's reality...And the stats from those last 9 Games are MUCH closer to the QB he was before the first 4 Games...So, at this point anyway, it's actually more likely the first 4 Games were the exception...And I'm not predicting anything...Just saying it is what it is...
  16. Wow! That's REALLY sad...I bet Schoop would be more excited if it was an Actors Draft or maybe some kind of Food Draft...Or whatever it is they do...ON AIR sometimes...They always seem to get up for that stuff...If I was their Boss and I heard them get negative about the NFL Draft I would fire them in a half-a-heartbeat...For no reason other than it's a freaking SPORTS TALK Station in an NFL Market? How does ANY On-Air personality get away with saying the NFL Draft is stupid? That is insane...
  17. He gave the Vikes an A for Ponder at #12, yet The Bills get a B+ for Dareus...These Grades are SO stupid anyway...But come on?
  18. I'm not up there anymore so I Stream WGR as much as I can...No matter what Sport is more popular in WNY I get the feeling most Folks are frustrated by the personalities, especially the afternoon personalities, being outwardly indifferent about The NFL and The Draft...To me it would be unacceptable as well...I'm in a bigger sports Market down here in Charlotte where College Basketball is pretty big, and the Local Sports Talk has been all about the NFL draft for over a Month now...I know the Panthers had the #1 Pick and Newton is quite the topic for conversation, but still...The fact that these guys are not REAL excited about any Draft for the NFL Team in their Town, when it's their job to discuss it...That's kind of sad...I'd kill for that job...And I'd find plenty of excitement within for both NHL and NFL talk... 'BTW I do have to say I still don't mind Howard Simon at all...Maybe it's the fact that I've been listening to the guy forever...I don't know...At least he comes across like he cares about The Bills...But the fact that WGR is SO married to the Sabres does make it a little tough to listen to at times if The Bills are your #1 Buffalo Sports priority...
  19. Good thoughts Bill... I doubt VERY much Bowers will be the Pick...I just think with the Dareus Pick, Carrington last year, Edwards, and Spencer the Bills will look to plug holes elsewhere...Not to mention the injury situation...The Bills rarely take chances like that...If they did take a chance on an injury I would MUCH rather see them go with NC LB Bruce Carter... I'm intrigued with Nix's comment about finding another Starter at #34...If that's what they plan on then it could be RT, ILB (OLB of they move Moats inside), or TE I'm guessing...With that in mind I think Ayers, Houston, and Wilson are in play at LB...I don't see much value on the O-Line at #34...And of coarse Rudolph should be there unless someone Trades up to #33 to grab him... Ryan Mallett would sure stir up some conversation... Seriously though, I have faith in Gailey with QB's...If they take Mallett I think Gailey would have a plan in place to build an Offense around him...But I have a feeling they like Kaepernick more... I'm hoping for Rudolph at #34...I just think landing the #1 D-Lineman, and the #1 TE in this Draft would be pretty sweet!
  20. That's not what I said...I'm not extrapolating anything...What the problem with some people around here? All I commented on was what was said in the Presser...That's it...No reading into anything...I could care less what anyone assumes from the comments...Some of Y'all are so busy being defensive and kissing butt about this QB stuff you can't even be civil...It makes me sick and is exactly what is wrong with this Board nowadays...The quality of individual Poster has dropped so dramatically around here over the past 10 years it's not even funny anymore...
  21. Well to be fair Simon I'm sure you and NGU have better inside info than the rest of us, but they asked Buddy straight out had Dareus gone at #2 would QB have been a bigger part of the conversation at #3...Buddy said "yes"...Gabbert? Again Buddy says "yes." So that's all we have to go by from the outside looking in...
  22. I'm REALLY hoping for Rudolph at #34...I think getting the #1 Overall Player (on a lot of Boards) in this Draft in Dareus, then following it up with the #1 TE in the Draft would be an absolute best case scenario in Rounds 1 and 2...But if they took one of the QB's I would not be overly disappointed...I wonder how much Chan is intrigued by Kaepernick's upside...I'd be MUCH more comfortable Drafting him in the 3rd Rd...But lets face it, the way the QB's came off the Board in Rd #1, the chance of CK being there at the top of the 3rd is slim and none... So anyway...I'm hoping for Rudolph...
  23. Talk about oxymoron...
  24. I was SO close to getting what I wanted... Seriously though I'm SO thrilled with the Dareus Pick...I just never imagined he would fall to #3...
