I think scapegoat is too strong a word concerning Edwards...The Defensive Coaching was absolutely terrible these past 2 Seasons and no one in the NFL deserves to be fired more than Edwards...No one...It's not scapegoating...It's a smart football move...

I'm dead serious about this... The Season is over...it's Black Monday...Why the heck does George Edwards still have a job? I know The Bills don't do anything quickly...But seriously...He should have been gone already...Period...End of story...

He also finished 18th in the new QBR Rankings...Just behind Matt Moore and one spot ahead of Kyle Orton...

I understand what you're getting at, but there is an ocean-span of difference between Fitz and the top tier of NFL QB's...And injuries or not, give me Rodgers, Brady, a healthy Manning, or Brees...and I'll take my chances any day...

You pretty much hit the nail on the head regarding my concerns about Upshaw...I really don't question his ability to play in the NFL...But I'm not certain he has the explosion necessary to be a great NFL Pass Rusher...Heck it can be argued he's not a great College Pass Rusher...He's an effort guy no doubt...But some Scouts say he's going to measure under 6-2 at the Combine and run in the 4.7 Range...To me Upshaw is the type of Prospect you're going to love if you get him at the bottom part of the 1st or early in the 2nd...He'll be a piece of a decent Defense, but not necessarily a star...Kind of like Robert Ayers who I loved coming out of College...But I wonder if Upshaw is truly worthy of #10 overall...I just worry he'll never be a 10-plus Sack guy in the NFL, and he's going to struggle a bit with OLB assignments if he truly is a 4-7-4-8 speed guy... Then I look at a few of the other Prospect that may be around at #10 and I drool...I've had the pleasure of seeing a ton of Alshon Jeffery while living in Charlotte the past 20 years...And that Kid is a special talent...You put him on the other side of Stevie Johnson (ya I know...assuming...) and now NFL Defenses have HUGE problems coming up with ways to stop the Bills...There may be one or two Top LT Prospects available at #10 overall...I just wonder if passing on a top Prospect at another Position in order to Draft a Kid like Upshaw or Coples is going to backfire on the Bills big-time in the end...And unfortunately I've given up on Nix Trading up or down... Too true... And yes I know it's course...I was typing fast and did not check because I was late to work reading this damn board as usual...

Get me LaMarr Woodley at #10 this year Bro and I'm 100% on board... Of course I'm a Michigan Fan so I'm not sure if my vote counts on that one... I hear you and I agree...I would LOVE to see The Bills grab the Defensive help they desperately need in the Pass Rush area...I guess what I'm wondering is if in fact you can get a Woodley type in the 2nd Round this coming Draft that will be every bit as good as the Upshaw or Coples that can only be had at #10 Overall...Though Upshaw is growing on me a bit...We'll see soon enough My Friend...

Don't get me wrong...I know The Bills need Pass Rush in the worst way...I'm REALLY uncertain if any Prospect from this coming Draft, especially at #10 overall, is going to be the answer to those woes...We'll see...The last time this Organization went out looking for Pass Rush help they Drafted Maybin...And despite the fact that it turns out Maybin can rush the passer a bit, it was a disaster for The Bills...What I see from this group of College Pass Rushers is a few guys with good ability who disappear WAY too often...There are good Prospects, but they are Prospects, and I don't see one worthy of the #10 Overall Pick...There will be no Marcell Dareus at #10 overall in the 2012 Draft...So IF The Bills decide this is going to be the Draft to fully address the Pass Rush, first off, I think Bills Fans will be disappointed with the results (again)...And secondly they better Trade Down (and we all know that is not happening)...In contrast if a Kid like Jeffery is there at #10 Overall I think your getting incredible value...And I also think there will be at least one REALLY good OT available at #10 as well...I'm going to go ahead and say it now, I don't think this is the year to be looking for high 1st Round Pass Rushers...Teams reach every year looking for magic in that department...The great ones are few and far between... All I'm saying is this...IMHO this Team is WAY closer to 5-10 than they are 10-5...And that means they have holes all over the field...And yes Defense and Pass Rush is a huge need, but if a player is available at another position of need that GREATLY upgrades that position...A player that will be a perennial Pro-Bowler well...They have to take him...WR, CB, DE, OLB, QB, O-Line...It does not matter...They just have to get the best guy and move forward...

Why just a WR? Look...If they blow the Pick, if they don't make good UFA moves, if the young players don't get better, if Fitz continues to be bad Fitz...If any or all of these things happen they could very well be right back picking in the Top 10 again... If they pick Alshon Jeffery at #10 overall and he turns out to be the next great thing at WR that is a HUGE upgrade and a piece of the puzzle...They got a stud in the 1st Round last year and they need another stud...They need to continue to get difference making players...They desperately need to get better Coaching on Defense or they are simply not going to be able to take the next step regardless... I don't really care much about what position the Bills Draft in 2012...They just need to Draft a stud and make a slew of other good moves to improve this Team...If they take a WR it better be a good one...I'm sure there were plenty of Detroit Lions Fans who felt they did not need to take another Top 10 WR when they Drafted Megatron...It's all relative...

Astro, I'm interested as to why Alshon Jeffery has dropped so far on the Drafttek Big Board? Is that a misprint or something? 49th? I mean...The Kid is still a monster...SC just does not have a QB...I don't see how Jeffery drops below 15th overall...And if he does somebody is going to get an absolute steal...He's my favorite player for The Bills right now...Assuming he runs in the 4.5 Range...I would take him ahead of Blackmon....And yes I really mean that...I think AJ is the PERFECT complement to Stevie... I know The Bills need Defense...But a Kid like Jeffery is a once in 5 years talent IMHO...I REALLY hope he's a Buffalo Bill come April...

And I did not say anything about why he got cut, or that it's common...Or anything like that...So I'm not sure where you're going with this...Outside of something that is law breaking or suspension worthy would it make Edwards any less of a fit for The Bills? Assuming they are not going to go out and pay top dollar for a UFA WR outside of Stevie?

Exactly... Let's not get carried away Folks...The Jets could not afford to re-sign him, and then he got hurt in San Fran... Look at Edwards big catch at the end of that Indy Playoff Game as evidence enough of what the Jets thought of him and his ability to make a clutch catch... Look, I'm a Michigan Fan and admittedly biased...But if Edwards is healthy Buffalo is the perfect spot for him...Assuming they re-sign Stevie of coarse...Edwards will likely get a one year offer to resurrect his value...He'll get a chance to get back at The Jets and he should compliment this WR group REAL well...This is the type of deal The Bills can and will make...Because lets face it, they are not going to break the bank for Vincent Jackson or Dwayne Bowe any time soon...Edwards will come cheap for a year and he'll be plenty motivated...

Seriously though I'm not delusional concerning Maybin...I don't think he's all that whatsoever...I'm just pissed The Bills Coaching Staff could not manage to bring out the one and seemingly only thing the Kid can do...Especially considering it's been our biggest need on Defense all Season...I wonder if they could have got 6 Sacks and 3 FF's from Maybin how different this Season would have turned out...That's all...

Exactly... This was (I think) the 7th Game that the Tebow led Broncos scored under 20 points...This game reminds me a bit of the Redskins Game...Great effort by the Bills D...But you have to take into consideration who they were facing...No need to get carried away...

Well... The Broncos are not exactly a Juggernaut Offense despite their #1 Ranking in Rushing...In 6 of the 9 Games with Tebow as a Starter they have scored 18, 10, 17, 17, 16, and 13 points... In a way I think an Offense like this makes it easier on The Bills...They don't have to think as much...And The Bills do have athletes on Defense...Plus it does not hurt that Tebow can be terrible throwing the ball at times...

Well...Add to that they already had 2 Pro-Bowl caliber RB's on their Roster when they Drafted Spiller... But hey...Remember...Buddy said, "There's only one Spiller!!!!"

The only thing I'm sure of is that both of these Drafts will be better than what The Bills will actually do come April...

But The Bills have cash to burn under the Cap...What's their excuse? You know when the Bills cut Maybin, like 99.9% of all Bills Fans I agreed with the move...I was buying what The Bills were selling...Now, not so much...But for the life of me I can't understand why so many Bills Fans still justify the move after what they've seen...You can't hide the film...You can't take away what Maybin has done...No matter what Defense he's in he still got to the QB's and forced those fumbles...There's no denying it... I'm more than willing to say I was wrong...Maybin has a skill...It may only be a single skill, and it may fit The Jets better, but still it's a skill The Bills Defense desperately needs...And they had him...They Drafted him, they can easily afford him, and there was absolutely NO reason to cut him...Why did they cut him? To keep Batten or Eddins (who they cut shortly after and is now sitting on the PS despite injuries to Merriman and Kelsay)? It was clearly a stupid move...Granted hindsight is 20/20...But the bottom line is Maybin is contributing to a Division rival and had major contributions in one of The Bills losses this Season...And that makes it a terribly dumb move...

Well... Jason Taylor is OLD...That's why nobody wanted him...I think he wanted to play his last year in Miami anyway... This whole argument that Maybin sucks and he's only a decent Pass Rusher because he's on the Jets would be all fine and dandy IF The Bills had any...I mean ANY semblance of a Pass Rush whatsoever...It's one thing to let a former #11 overall pick go because he can't play all 3 downs...I get that...It's completely another thing to let him go when his one and only current NFL skill is exactly what your Defense lacks most...A FREAKING PASS RUSH!!! Chan Gailey hinted strongly to Tim Graham that Maybin was released do to a lack of talent...Now for those around here who have short memories, Maybin was drafted (and yes I understand it was the previous regime) to Rush the Passer first and foremost...Go back and read the comments from The Bills before that Draft...They were determined to get a PASS RUSHER...If they wanted a 3 down LB I promise each and everyone of you they would have taken Cushing...But instead they wanted a difference maker on 3rd Down coming off the edge...That is why they Drafted Maybin, and anyone who thinks differently is simply making crap up...Maybin had done it for only one year in College...He was the definition of a project...No matter how dumb you think Jauron and Modrak were, believe me, they knew Maybin was a HUGE projection as a 3-Down Player...Everyone under the sun knew it...But what Jauron saw was the ability to get after the QB off the edge...And Maybin had the best first step off the line that many of these scouts had seen in years...And sure they also figured in a few years he would fill out and be a more complete player...But in the meantime he was Drafted to do one thing and one thing only...Pass Rusher...Sound familiar? That's exactly what he's doing for The Jets...Only when Gailey and Nix came in did they up the expectations of Maybin...And he never got the Coaching necessary to be a decent Pass Rusher in Buffalo let alone a 3 Down OLB...What a joke... So sure Maybin is one dimensional...And yes The Jets are a better Defense than this bumbling bunch of misfits we've got...But the fact that the Bills could not get Maybin to do exactly what they Drafted him to do...Rush the Passer, and get 5-10 Sacks a year...speaks volumes about this Coaching Staff...And I'll take Maybin's Pass Rush skills any day on this current Bills Team...After all he's clearly a better Pass Rusher than any player we have currently...The fact that we cut this Kid is a complete and utter joke...Just like The Bills...I was fooled into thinking Gailey knew it all and Maybin had no talent...I know better now...The Bills have no Coaching talent...That's the real problem...
