Jets-Broncos live Game Thread
KOKBILLS replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not excuses...The injuries? Now that's excuses... Name one Game outside of Washington and KC (both those Teams were obviously pretty bad Offensively) where The Bills Defensive Coaches came up with an outstanding Game Plan to stop (not slow down) an opponent? Teams have marched up and down the Field on us all year...If we don't get the Turnovers vs. NE and Philly we get slaughtered in those Games too...Look at the 6 Quarter span of Sanchez and the first half vs. Romo...Our Defense was lost...Those 2 completed almost 90% of their Passes in that span...Romo was almost perfect...It's Coaching...You'll see soon enough when Edwards is (where he belongs) Coaching LB's for another Team, probably in College, next year... I'm not saying The Bills are not underachieving on Defense based on the talent...Because that's true...I am saying that has a TON to do with Coaching...The same way Fitz and a few guys on Offense overachieved due to Gailey's Play Calling early on...It goes both ways...Gailey gets the most out of talent (well...at times at least he does)...Edwards squanders it... -

It's a one word answer for those of you who are wondering... Coaching... Our Defensive Coaching Staff can't game-plan, is predictable, can't develop talent whatsoever, and can't adjust to anything...They've made the likes of Jason Campbell, Mark Sanchez, and Tony Romo look like Montana, Marino, and Johnny U...It's Coaching Folks...And I'm not saying we have great talent...We just have terrible Defensive Coaches... -
Fitz's Inaccuracy A Problem Going Forward?
KOKBILLS replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't disagree 100%...But...I know it's just one play, but you can't get any more wide open deep than Jones was when Fitz overthrew him by 5 yards plus last week...That's a Pass a guy making $9 million per year needs to make 99% of the time...So granted the Bills need a better WR option opposite Stevie...But it's not all the WR's either...Fitz has made some pretty crappy throws at times as well... -
Good news about our Dline...
KOKBILLS replied to HerdMenatlity1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be REAL shocked, and to be honest scared if he was based on what I've seen so far...That Kid is no where near ready to be an NFL Starting CB...Then he misses all this time to boot...When he was in there he might as well have had a target painted on him, because opposing QB were going right after him...And he did not respond well at all...I thought he looked terrible in pre-season outside of the one nice play he made on the INT...Other than that play he was consistently a step or two behind...Williams has shown me next to nothing...So acually he fits right in amongst The Bills CB's... But I will say this...A TON of it could be the fact that The Bills Defensive Coaches are terrible and simply have no clue how to put Players in position to succeed...Nor can they develop obvious talent...So when the Bills get a brand new Staff on Defense, which I expect to happen (actually I'm PRAYING it happens)...Maybe Williams will turn out to be all that...We'll see I guess... -

At this point I'd settle for just slowing them down every now and again... It's really become brutal! -

Thanks for the math lesson Mr Professor... You're point is still off...For numerous reasons I'm too tired to bring up anymore...Math lesson or not... Genius...

Right because Whitner has SO much to do with that 7-1 Record... I have to admit he's is better when surrounded by exceptional talent and good Coaching...But saying he suddenly got good because the 49ers are 7-1 is a joke... And Haloti Ngata called...He begs to differ as well...
-
The Whitner Pick was 100 times worse than McLovin...For many reasons it's not even close... I would say it's got a LOT more to do with who is Coaching these schemes and their ability than it does the actual change itself...Seems like Houston is accepting the move to a 3-4 pretty well...It's about the Coaching, Game planning, scouting the opponent, and the ability to develop the talent given...
-
Totally agree...It's hard for me to believe that most of these 11 draft Picks on Defense over the past 2 years simply can't cut it (well...outside of Dareus and Carrington at times)...I think it's just poor Coaching...Whether it is in the area of development, game planning, putting guys into situations they can be successful...whatever...It's REAL poor Coaching and development...There is just no excuse for this Team to be as bad as they are on Defense...No excuse whatsoever...I think what you've seen with Maybin is proof positive of that...Not that Maybin is much of anything...But the Bills Staff got nothing, notta, zip out of Maybin...A #11 Overall Pick...Yet Fatasaurus Rex has found a way to get him on the field where he can be most disruptive...and he's got a play or two out of the kid...It's Coaching Folks...And it's REAL bad...

I know Poz said he wanted to play in a 4-3, and I don't question that it was a factor in his decision...But after what we saw last year, and now this year on Defense I wonder if the truth is Poz knew Edwards was in WAY over his head regardless of what Defense he wanted to run...So once Poz saw the big offer and knew he was going to a Defensive minded HC...it was an easy decision... Just saying...

It depends on your definition of a solid #1 WR...If Fitzgerald, Calvin and Andre Johnson are outstanding #1 WR's then, to me at least, a Player like Dewayne Bowe, Vincent Jackson, or Anquan Boldin would be a solid #1 WR...Stevie Johnson is currently 17th among NFL WR's in yards and his 12.1 average per catch is low for a #1 WR (TE's Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham, and Fred Davis all have better yards-per-catch averages than Stevie)...Stevie's numbers would be great for a #2...He's not a solid #1 though IMHO...As a #1 he's slightly below average... Why can't the Bills get a decent #1 WR through Free Agency or the Draft?...A guy like Bowe, Vincent Jackson, or Gordy Nelson would be 1A to Stevie's 1B if you want to say Stevie is still a #1...This Draft is deep at WR if all the Underclassmen come out as well...I see no reason why The Bills can't pay Stevie like an exceptional #2, or a lower paid #1, then go out and get another solid UFA WR to put on the other side...In fact I think they HAVE to do it in order for this Offense to take the next step...They can't just throw somebody out there next year...They have to get a legit threat on the other side of Stevie...Because Stevie is just not good enough to be a stand-alone #1...He's good, but not THAT good...
-
Sarc/ or not I don't think anyone has come remotely close to saying we should CUT Stevie Johnson... This entire thread is about whether or not Stevie is a #1 WR who deserves #1 WR cash...It's a common misunderstanding that this Board was built on the power of over-exaggeration...But I appreciate your effort to pitch in...

100% agree...

Poll: The Bills' No. 1 Solution
KOKBILLS replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This Bills have holes and problems on both sides of the Ball...But I think nothing could help more than better Coaching on the Defensive side...And I don't think they have anyone on Staff capable of getting that done currently...The fixes for The Bills are going to start on Week 18...Otherwise known as the off-season... -
Hope you're right... But based on what I've seen from this Defense this year, the Offense the past couple weeks, and the growing injury problems, I think they'll be lucky to get to 8-8...
-
I like Stevie as much as most, but I completely disagree with that statement...Who exactly is going to give Stevie #1 WR cash?...Future UFA WR's like Welker, DeSean Jackson, Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston, Reggie Wayne, Brandon Lloyd, and Dwayne Bowe may all be ahead of Stevie in most NFL GM's minds come this off-season...Heck after that Group there is Pierre Garcon, Mario Manningham, Braylon Edwards, and Jordy Nelson... Now...Before anyone gets their panties all up in a wad, I'm not saying all those WR are as good as Stevie...What I am saying is with all these WR's potentially out there, and a REAL decent group coming out of College in April, what Teams GM in his right mind is going to pay Stevie Johnson #1 WR cash?...It's not going to happen...And it shouldn't in Buffalo either...

Bills Offense: This Is Why We've Been Figured Out
KOKBILLS replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
100% agree with this point... Look no further than the Houston Texans and what a PROVEN NFL DC can get out of the talent he's given...Anyone can say whatever they want about Wade Phillips as a HC, but as a DC he's one of the best...He's taken a Defense that finished 30th in the League last Season (dead last vs. the Pass) and has them playing lights out...All that without their best player on Defense (Mario Williams) to boot... The Bills have spent 11 Draft Picks in 2 years on Defense...Plus they added Nick Barnett...There is ZERO excuse for them to be as bad as they are...I'm not saying they have a ton of talent, or as much talent as Houston...But they DO have talent, and they are TERRIBLE...Good Coaching would go a LONG, long way in helping this Defense at least be respectable...Outside of the Washington Game just about every Offense they have faced has made them look silly for at least part of the Game...Edwards is in WAY, way over his head...It was a terrible hire and this is what makes Head Coaching tough...Chan hired the wrong guy and now he's got to go out and right this wrong... -
Stick a fork in em' and get ready for The Draft...This Team is done...They will be lucky to finish 7-9 at this point...The way the Defense is playing, the way opposing Defenses have adjusted to our Offense, and now we lose our best O-Lineman and a Team Leader...Not to mention what the loss of Kyle Williams has already meant to the team...It's over Folks...April is right around the corner...
-
Exactly right! It cracks me up when I read all these trolls ripping on the OP for making a valid point...I'm not saying The Bills should not retain Stevie because he is a good Player and the last thing The Bills need is to lose talent...But anyone who thinks Stevie Johnson is a legit NFL #1 WR is delusional...And thus he should not be paid like one...And I'll go out on a limb and say no other NFL Team is going to pay him like a legit #1 WR either...Not a single one... The Bills still need a legit #1, and Stevie would be one of the best #2 WR's in the League...That's the way this Offense needs to be built...The Bills still need a #1 WR either through Free Agency, Trade, or the Draft...

A Few Thoughts About The Game

fred jackson 31 carries in the last two game
KOKBILLS replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills have been their own worst enemies in falling in love with this short-passing Game and seemingly having nothing to counter with when Teams obviously know what is coming...The way the Jets and Cowboys played Freddie and the Screen Game overall took The Bills completely out of their element...The other thing I've noticed is how Fitz seems to go to Chandler more in the Red Zone and WAY less between the 20's...Maybe I'm wrong about that...but it does seem that way...Nevertheless, Teams understand shutting down Freddie is priority #1...The Bills are without 2 of their Top 3 Tackles on the Offensive Line, and I don't think it's a mystery why the production in the Running Game has dropped back with Levitre at LT...Did everyone see Levitre getting shoved back all day by Ware? I give him credit for sticking in there, but Ware was bull Rushing and knocking Andy back 3 Yards on contact...It was scary... Anyway...Yes the Bills need to run Freddie more, but opposing Defenses know that too...They know the Offense runs through Freddie...So they are trying to take Freddie out of the Game early by shutting down the Runs and Screens, get a lead, and then The Bills can't feed him in the 2nd Half... -
At this point I think you can make an argument for WR, OLB (HAS to be a Pass Rushing OLB), and CB as the #1 Need position...It's a toss-up at this point...
-
Of the Passes I was referring to one ball (the 4th Down Pass) was WAY high and thrown with no arc directly over the Defender...The other Ball (a deep Pass towards the hashes) was 5 Yards over his head and WAY offline...Not sure what other Pass you're referring to that went off his hands...Maybe I missed that one...The Pass on 4th down was not horrible, but it would have taken a super-human effort to bring that one in...Few NFL WR's make that Play... Like I said I don't think Jones is an NFL #2 either...He was thrown in there when the Bills dealt Evans and the truth is they probably planned on Easley getting the job eventually...But Jones sure as heck is not as bad as some of you are making him out to be...Some of Y'all are clueless...

A Few Thoughts About The Game
KOKBILLS replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed...this garbage about Spiller not getting touches is a joke...Chan basically hand-picked the Kid...If he showed enough to deserve them he would get all the touches he needs to shine...But he comes up short FAR too often...He can't break a tackle to save his life, and you would hope a #8 overall Pick would not stumble and drop a deep pass right in his hands when he does get the chance to make a big play...I mean...After watching Spiller look like he had 2 left feet and no hands on that play how can anyone question why he does not get more touches? More often than not he looks over-matched out there...They Drafted him at #8 overall to be the newer, better version of Darren Sproles, but he's no where close to that good...I thought Dez Bryant lacked maturity to be a great NFL WR...But I don't get paid to make those decisions either...Think the Bills would rather have Bryant now? 11 Draft Picks on Defense in two years and not a single one is a stand-out Defender...Dareus included...Though I do think the big-fella could be great in time...I mean...How is it even possible that a Team can Draft so poorly year, after year, after year?...Heck they don't even deserve credit for the Dareus Pick...that was a no-brainer...Or at least it seemed to be...I know AJ Green is having something to say about that...This is the most bizarre string of poor Drafting...It may even be historic it's so bad...Jeez...
