  1. I just don't get it? I mean...If you want to say the 3rd-7th round picks were average...Fine...I get it...But the 1st two picks were strong at need positions...So where does he get the D+? And value? Regardless of the off-the-field stuff, as players Henderson and Richardson could be tremendous values where they were picked...Whatever Mel...
  2. Well...I do care about two of them...Henderson and Johnson... But ya...the others...Not so much...
  3. It depends if you are buying what they are selling...If you are...It is clearly a sound strategy...If you're not...well...It's not... And what they are selling is simple...They are selling the fact that Manuel, Lewis, and Tuel were basically all 1st year QB's in a brand new system that they expect to take a BIG leap in their 2nd year now that they understand the Offense...They are also selling the fact that any Rookie they would bring in is going to go through the same rough patches those three went through last year and they don't feel that's a good idea...They feel very strongly that these three will be much better at executing the Offense now that they fully understand the playbook and the philosophy of what Marrone and Hackett are trying to do...Marrone said it in the final Draft Presser...He said it's like night and day with the three of them understanding the playbook and what is expected of them to run the Offense... We'll see if they are right...That is absolutely debatable at this point...But they are giving valid and logical reasons to stay put in order to move forward and get better...
  4. I think based solely on the talent and where they Drafted them I would give it a B+...Watkins is a stud and arguably the best player in this Draft...Definitely one of the Top 5...Kouandjio was a 1st round talent and would have gone MUCH higher if other teams agreed with the Bills doctors...Brown was a solid pick and will contribute...Cockrell was a great value in the 4th, he's going to surprise I think...Richardson and Henderson have BIG upsides and if they were clean off the field (Richardson with weight and Henderson with...well...a few things) they would have been 2nd-4th round picks...And Johnson has some very nice athletic ability, measurables, and production for a 7th round pick...Plus they pick up Brown and Williams who are already good, solid NFL players... Hard to put too many holes in this Draft...Sure they would have liked to get a 4-3 DE, and maybe a Safety...But this Draft, for all it's depth, was weakest in those two areas...So the Bills did the smart thing and took the more talented football players...I honestly think that with this off season almost in the books this is the deepest roster we have seen in Buffalo in the last 15 years or so...There's just not a lot of holes anymore...Which puts the pressure squarely on the QB position to simply execute, and not lose games for us...I'm very excited about this coming season...More than I have been in years...
  5. Exactly... Jerry Jones admitted Manziel was the #1 player on their board when it was the Cowboys turn to pick, but they could not take him because of what you so correctly explained to me right before the Draft...Romo's contract made it impossible...QB's can and do slide big time if the teams with QB needs pass for whatever reason...See Rogers, Quinn, etc...This is not a new thing...The new thing is QB's being over-drafted like Gabbert, Ponder, Locker, and Weeden...
  6. Well said as always...
  7. BIG mistake!!!!
  8. I really...I mean really like Rich Eisen normally...But I felt that last hour or more (it seemed like an eternity) of the Draft commentary was an effort by Rich, and the NFL Network, to get on the good side of what they figured was sure to turn into a public relations nightmare...Especially if Sam went undrafted...You could literally see Mike Mayock's frustration with having to have this lengthy conversation about Sam instead of talking about the players who were being Drafted...I could feel the negative energy...They pretty much glossed over the entire 7th round with the talk of Sam...And they had touched on it so often leading up to that I had memorized that comparison chart they kept using by the end of the 4th round...Everyone who really follows the Draft and NFL football, especially including the guys on that stage, knew there was a very good chance Sam would go undrafted...His measureables were terrible...His drills were worse...Sometimes great College players don't make it in the NFL with awesome measurables...Sam was a good College player with a slow 40 time, a laughable vertical, and he only did 17 reps...What exactly are NFL teams supposed to do? Draft him out of pity? I really do wish Sam the best...He was a good College player...But the attention he drew to himself in this case certainly did not help when he was unable to back-up his potential with raw numbers...He's likely going to get handled by NFL linemen...It's a massive step up for special players...There is at least some discussion about a player like Clowney and how good he will be in the NFL...And Clowney is freaking Zeus compared to Sam...And what was with the Trent Cole comparisons by Jeremiah? Cole ran a 4.70 at his Pro Day and had a 38" vertical...Cole is obviously a much better natural athlete than Sam...And Cole has 79 career sacks in the NFL...I felt that was further pumping up Sam's potential unrealistically... Whatever...That was literally the worst couple hours of NFL Draft coverage I've watched in over 25 years of being glued to every minute of the NFL Draft...It was painful...
  9. I wish him the best of luck breaking on to that roster...
  10. The Bills were 23rd in touchback percentage last year...Hopkins would boost that stat up big-time...
  11. And that did not even mention his now famous twitter quote...
  12. True... Make no mistake...If this kid wakes up and actually puts the hard work in the sky is the limit...Because I don't think up to this point he's come close to the dedication necessary to truly tap in to his potential...His potential entering College was that of a high 1st Round pick...All he needed was the proper dedication day in and day out...He could not do it though... If the light goes on, and he can stay healthy, the Bills will have 3 ultra-talented mammoth OT's...He's getting his chance...We'll see if he steps up and straightens out...
  13. This should be interesting...Marrone loves a challenge I guess...

  15. You're probably right Pete...And I should not cast stones...But so far he's blowing a hell of a good opportunity at a comfortable life with real poor decisions...I tend to give less lead-way to guys like Lyerla because he's not a dolt...He's smart enough to know better but he still can't learn...And I don't think that projects well to an NFL career...Players have too much free time...And even as a UDFA, if he makes a team he's going to get close to $400,000 per year...That's a lot of money for a kid who continues to make bad decisions...If the Bills take him in the 7th or sign him as a UDFA so be it...I wish him the best no matter what...But due to his reputation he's going to be one or two mistakes away from being out of the league, and he has not even entered it yet...
  16. And I don't think he cares about changing...
  17. Hornsey is an interesting Punter...He's probably got the most room for improvement considering he has only been Punting since 2009...I'd be AOK with Hornsey or Van Der Kamp at this point... I just think Lyerla is going to have major problems in a Locker Room full of grown men who can pummel him if he opens his mouth...He's nuts...And an idiot...
  18. And that is the understatement of the day... He's bonkers... I would not be surprised at all if they took a Punter with their last pick...My favorite, O'Donnell from Miami just went at #191... That's an interesting situation... I think Hopkins is going to end up being a REAL good NFL Kicker...
  19. From everything I've read about Richardson it all revolves around his weight...When he was around 320 he played at a very high level...When he got up over 340 his play suffered greatly... I always worry about guys with weight issues going to Buffalo because WNY food is the best...as we all know...It's a dangerous area of the country for anyone watching their waistline...
  20. I've always thought it was term used for the combination of height and arm length... Like...If an OT is 6-7 with 34" arm length he's tall...But if he's 6-7 with 36" arms he's long... But what the hell do I know? I'm 5-9 with T-Rex arms...
  21. I know we have a pretty decent amount of NC residents here now...Cockrell is from Waxhaw NC right outside of Charlotte where I lived for 20 years...He's a VERY solid player...Maybe a bit of an over achiever-type...But he held his own against some very good WR's over the years...He has good size and...well...He's from Duke so you know the smarts are going to be there...I really like this pick...
