  1. Where the team stands now at 4-2 and having played pretty mediocre football on the whole for most of the season after almost making the Super Bowl last season is an organizational failure. The team has regressed since the end of last season. And that should not have happened. We obviously needed some additions at WR, and did nothing other than draft a kid in the 7th round as an afterthought. That is stupid on Beane’s part. We needed help on defense and drafted 6 guys. Unfortunately 3 are injured, one has not been given a chance, 1 looks awful and 1 has been a beast. We signed 3 D lineman in free agency, and 1 has looked good, and 2 have been suspended (hopefully they will give the team some juice starting this coming week) My biggest problem besides the lack of talent at WR is that we brought in trash in the secondary besides our rookies. Tre and Dane are not NFL players any longer. And Rapp is a back up period as is Bishop. Either the team has no clue on what starting NFL talent looks like, or they are blindly loyal to guys who were good at one time. But can’t run any longer. Give Hancock a chance. And play Poyer until you can find someone in a trade. The back end is killing us. Also we continue to go with small LB’s who can’t defend the pass and get run over against the run. That will not when you a Super Bowl. The organization really needs to be doing a lot of self evaluating. We will see come next Sunday. And the Panthers are a solid team. We had best be ready.
  2. The Bills have their future and present player on the roster to start at safety. And I have been screaming about it since training camp started. And that is Jordan Hancock.. The guy showed he can play in the preseason.. His upside is much better than anyone the Bills have had since Poyer and Hyde in their prime. He needs to start ahead of Bishop. And have Poyer start ahead of Rapp. Could someone define for me what the "Bills Culture" even is? I know CJ Gardner Johnson has gone through many teams. And he really isn't that good watching his game. But is the narrative that there are certain types of players we shy away from for reasons that have nothing to do with their on field play?
  3. Our entire receiving group other than Shakir are giving us pretty much nothing. We barely throw to any of them, except Keon on the sideline when he is blanketed. We design almost nothing down the field for our WR's. We hit two nice passes to Palmer and then he was injured. We have barely used Moore. Samuel only dressed for two games, and we did not target him once down the field. Keon can not catch on the boundary. Get him running in the middle of the field. As for Shavers, figure out what he is good at, and give him some targets. As for Shakir, get him the ball all over the field, not just within 3 yards in front or behind the LOS. Sure our WR's are not game breaker burner types. But my goodness we are scheming almost nothing down the field. Elijah Moore was above average in his career before coming to Buffalo. Get him the frikin ball down the field some!! The same with Samuel!! Our passing scheme is absolutely absurdly terrible!! And this is with probably the best QB in the league. Get rid of Joe Brady if he can not orchestrate an NFL passing game. And if McDermott does not want him to. Get rid of McDermott too. So if you want to dress Gabe, make sure we throw him the ball. Running is fine. But you had better be able to make plays in the passing game, otherwise you are not winning anything. This is not the Chicago Bears of 1985. And even they threw deep to Willie Gault and Dennis McKinnon a decent amount.
  4. Seriously, what has happened to Benford? He looks dazed and confused every week. Taron is just physically overmatched with his lack of size. Although I thought he made a nice breakup on the 4th and short throw over the middle. And how come are safeties are showing no improvement? They look horrible. I have been saying this all year. Get Hancock on the field. He will be a starter going forward! The guy has instincts and talent. He won't get better sitting on the bench. And only playing special teams. Bishop has no instincts for the position, and I don't think he has a lot of talent either. And Rapp has no athleticism period. Start Hancock and Poyer if you have to against the Panthers. It has to be better than Bishop and Rapp. That being said, regarding the original post on this thread. Tre pretty much sucks at this point. And should not be on the field.
  5. I love Walker's play. He has been good since he stepped on the field for us in the preseason. He is a huge man who has really nimble feet that allow him to get into the backfield and use his power. A great pick in the 4th round. Heck he is playing like a 1st or 2nd round pick. And will only get better, if he can stay injury free. Oliver has played with a lot of juice the two games he has played. He just needs to stay on the field. Agree about the LB's and DB's. Both units have been lousy. Except for Shaq Thompson who has made some plays. We need Hancock to get some reps on the back end. Our safeties have been terrible.
  6. I was at the game. Atlanta had guys open all over the field. Our DB's have forgotten how to cover, or have no idea where they are supposed to be. Bishop and Rapp and Tre are bad and Benford is regressing. Penix was meh tonite. I told my step son who is a Falcons fan, that I would give him a C+ He missed open receivers, plays with not a lot of confidence and makes questionable decisions with the ball. A good QB was putting up 400 yards tonite. We are that bad on the back end against the pass. But we still had a chance to win. Unfortunately, the offense had less than nothing after the TD to Ray Davis. This is a football team heading in a bad direction. These next two weeks are very telling. We play an improving Panthers team, and a once again very very good Chiefs team coming out of the bye. 4-4 and its time to clean house of the McBeane stench that has permeated into this once very proud and ascending franchise. Hopefully there is a big time awakening this week and next from top to bottom in the entire organization. The team tonite was embarrassing to watch. And that should never happen.
  7. Seriously, is there any coaching even being done on defense?? Its a ***** show. Maybe the players hate McDermott and have quit on him.
  8. Samuel is ALWAYS injured. So is Bernard. So is Milano. So is Daquan Jones.. So is Taron Johnson. Kincaid has his best game as a Bill. And now he was out tonite. We are on our 3rd punter. Our second kicker (one good thing so far from this season.) Now Palmer is injured. Why was Benford out for parts of tonite's game? Bishop has missed most of the last two training camps. Hairston has been out since training camp. This team is always injured and has been a revolving door of mediocre to marginal players. Amari Cooper came in and broke his wrist. Oliver plays well against the Ravens and hurts his ankle. We don't have good starters at a lot of positions, especially on defense. Let alone have good back ups. We need guys who are tough solid bigger guys who can take some punishment.
  9. I was at the game tonite. Watching Keon try and run boundary routes is just painful. Even Shavers is better. And he still isn't anything close to being good. Not sure why Keon runs nothing breaking towards the post or the middle of the field. He has no idea how to adjust his body, his feet and get his hands up to have any chance of catching anything on the sideline with a DB anywhere near him. Why are we running that nonsense with him? And what did we see in drafting him as a high 2nd round pick. He has no better skills than Shavers, (less speed) and Shavers was an undrafted free agent. Beane McDermott and our assistant coaches are running this franchise into the ground. And why does Bishop look so lost? Didn't he play at Utah, a really solid college program with a real good coach? He comes to the Bills and looks awful. Get Hancock on the field ASAP. The kid started on Ohio State's Nat championship team. My god, look at the WR's he went up against every day in practice. They are all 1st round picks. Its not that hard. Get guys on the field who can run hit and tackle people. That's what football is on defense. Why draft a guy from a program like that if he isn't going to play? (instead we go with Rapp, Poyer, Bishop and Cam Lewis. And if Hamlin wasn't hurt, he would be ahead of Hancock also.) Are we purposely trying to embarrass ourselves? Has Bishop made a big hit coming up on a play once since entering the league? My goodness, what is the team looking at when it scouts players? Landon Jackson had no idea what he was doing when he was playing late in the game. And we took him in the 3rd round. Why? Most of our draft picks suck. And at least half the defense is always injured. And we have nothing at WR. Something has gone very wrong.
  10. We have the worst secondary and wide receiver groups in the league. And it is not even close. Our LB's as a group are pretty bad as well. That's on Beane. And the coaching staff. Its the same management team going into its 9th year. Many in the league have caught up to the Bills, and passed them with how they run their teams, and play the game. We look old slow and disinterested. We have wasted so many high picks in the Beane regime. And traded for has beens like Amari Cooper. These next two weeks will be very pivotal for this season. And beyond. You have to wonder how happy Josh is playing for an organization that seems like it has fallen way behind how the game is now being played.
  11. Other than the Jets. What offense hasn’t presented problems for us? We can’t stop the run consistently. And there are always large open spaces at all levels of the field for teams to complete uncontested passes against us. it’s seems like the LB’s and DB’s have no idea where to line up a lot of the time. You just don’t see that on most of the defenses in the league. Too much thinking. I think it has really hindered guys like Bishop and Dorian Williams who are good athletes, but are having to think too much instead of just playing the game w speed and intensity.
  12. I don’t think we really know completely what kind of a team we have this year relative to the rest of the league just yet. It kind of evolves over the entire season. Tampa looks real good. Baker is on fire. The Panthers are much improved. As our the Pats. We have Josh Allen which is our ace card obviously. James Cook and Kincaid if he can stay healthy. But the team overall looks lethargic, stale and bottom tear on defense. And plays w very little intensity which is a product of its coaching staff. And the lack of emotion of its head coach. It’s great not to panic. And be a leader. But some urgency and forcefulness is needed as well. And the willingness to make changes to our scheme so opposing teams will not have an easy time preparing for us. Isn’t that what coaching is about. If not, just let Josh run around and play street all game. This is 9 years of the same regime. It really looks old and tired. Watching Diggs run up and down the sidelines exulting all his teammates last Sunday night late in the game was something. The Bills are missing that. Emotion and passion do matter.
  13. More talent would be great. I agree we need a speed receiver. Maybe the guys you mention will make a difference too. it just pisses me off every season the holes and deficiencies in the roster. Beane is so mediocre acquiring good talent. maybe it’s the scheme and the coaching staff. We just seem to be spinning our wheels. i don’t think people are panicking. I think it’s more frustration that they see a team w a bad secondary and a pretty weak receiving group. And a coach and GM who don’t seem to want to fix the situation.
  14. We very well can win tomorrow night. (I am actually going to the game) But we are not destroying the Falcons or most any team with the secondary we have playing right now. They have been awful. Give way too much space all over the field. The Falcons are not a great team. But we better have had a strong week of practice and come out locked and loaded on both sides of the ball. Really frustrating how little we did to improve the team after last seasons crash landing in the AFCCG. Maybe it’s the coaching. But we have been sleep walking a whole lot through the first 5 weeks of the season. I think getting Hoecht back after the bye will really help if we know how to use him. He is a freaky athlete. And we don’t have any guys like him on our defense.
  15. I think that about sums it up E in C. What does that say about our management and coaching staff bringing back a CB that plays like he is well into his 40's, that was let go by 2 good organizations after last season? And not being able to cover a WR that can't get separation from anyone he plays against when running routes. You could see in the first preseason game against the Giants how far off the line of scrimmage he was playing when he was in the game. What are the Bills thinking??!! That's not how to build a Super Bowl roster!! I like the grit that Coleman seems to show. And he has made some plays. (a few nice TD receptions) But anything down the field near the boundary he has no chance to make the catch. I just don't understand if he has such problems getting any separation, what we saw in Keon to make him a very high second round pick when we were in desperate need of a big time WR. He has the athletic skills of a 4th or 5th round pick. He has some size. But so does Tyrell Shavers and he was undrafted.. I would run Coleman on some crossing patterns in the middle of the field, or some intermediate post or comeback type routes, where he can shield the defender with his bigger body type. But sending him down the boundary. He can barely get his hands on the ball w the DB in his jock.
  16. Sometimes change is good, just for change sake. Shake things up a little bit. The organization has been the same since the 2017 season. Need some new ideas, new schemes, new concepts, look at some different type of players at WR and across the defense. How about Nick Saban? I don't know if he would want to go back to the NFL at his age, and give up all his commercials and ESPN College Game Day. But the guy is a winner. And he has a lot more fire than McDermott ever brings on the sidelines.
  17. Of course McDermott is better than Mike McDaniel. And he is better then Josh McDaniels too. But that means beans at this point. Comparing Andy Reid to McDermott is stupid. Reid is an amazing coach. (sure he has an amazing QB. But so do we. But they have won 3 Super Bowls under Reid, and been in 5, and we have been in 0 with McDermott) McDermott's defensive scheme sucks. And it has been figured out. It is too complicated for the majority of NFL players to thrive in. He is becoming a dinosaur. Our coaching staff has held us back. Any culture we have is because we have one of the best QB's to ever play the game. The rest is all noise. And yes football is the ultimate team game. And a team needs good players. This organization has been derelict in putting enough good players around our amazing QB. You want culture. Did you see how Stefan Diggs was bringing his culture to the Patriots on Sunday night on the sidelines and the field? I liked that culture a whole lot more than the culture McDermott brought to our sidelines on Sunday night, I can tell you that. You keep loving your McDermott culture 716, I want wins and championships. Not defenses that can't stop anyone when it matters. Over and out.
  18. What is the "Bills Culture" anyways? I think its Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things with some help from James Cook. But this supposed process and culture would be nothing without #17. He is our "culture". McDermott got the Bills out of playoff hell in 2017. Since then its been all #17.
  19. The secondary is as much to blame for this loss (including Christian Benford) as anything. They absolutely can not cover any receiver tightly. All 4 of our home games this year, the opposition has had guys running wide open all over the field. Short, middle and deep zones. Other than the pick by Bishop on the "Philly special" by Olave last Sunday, has anyone in the secondary made a play on a ball all year? Why are our safeties always 10 yards away from the receiver catching the ball? There was one deep pass yesterday that Maye threw in the second half I believe, at least 30+ yards down the field. And our safety was still too far behind him to make a play on the ball and the receiver. That McDermott is calling out Coleman, when Tre White and the entire secondary looks pathetic seems really petty. McDermott likes "his guys" and that's it. Coleman has not made a lot of plays since being drafted. But what WR on our roster really has down the field? Its a real problem. But not just a Keon problem. They should have done a better job scouting him, and finding out what makes him tick before drafting him, if the organization was going to constantly make him a scapegoat.
  20. Great post Ethan. I said last night. White needs to go. He could not cover college receivers at this point. And Shaq is still good and plays hard w an edge.
  21. The secondary is terrible. (Even Benford looks lost out there.) No one is contesting any throws. Our corners have not come close to making an interception. Beane has put together a roster thet is nowhere near chsmpionshipnlevel. We seriously could be 1-4 or 2-3 right now. We have a great all time QB. A very good RB and a strong O line. Good TE’s. But our WR’s are bottom 5 in the league collectively. And the defense has no stars or guys who are even very good. I would argue that Shaq Thompson has the most talent on this defense. And the secondary is bottom 5 also. The coaching is not smart enough, creative enough, and too arrogant to tweak or redesign their schemes. This is the 9th year of McBeane. It has grown stale, and relies all on #17. But has shackled him for whatever reason. Some new blood in the organization on the management and coaching side (someone from the outside) would do wonders in giving some much needed new perspective. I think the league has passed McDermott and Beane by over the past few years.
  22. Good point about Poyer. He understands the defensive scheme extremely well. And plays with an edge to his game. He and Hyde were always great leaders on the defense.
  23. One of my boys sent me that analytics post about Sanders and his rush pressures. I must admit I was surprised. Hopefully he will continue to get better and feel more comfortable in his role. And I hope he isn't seriously injured. Because you know the Bills never give out much info on our injury situation.
  24. Agree about White and Rapp. They are terrible. In fact, I think the secondary as a whole is bottom 5 in the league. Bishop is athletic, but is always a step or two late to the party. Is constantly thinking instead of just reacting, (accept for the pick on the goal line against NO last week). Taron looks like he is aging before our eyes, and really doesn't do much in coverage any longer. And Benford has gone from a strong A type lock down corner to a C+ this season. Doesn't look like the same player. I do want to give props to Shaq Thompson. I think talent wise he is the best Bills defensive player right now. And I would put Bernard right there behind him. And a shout out to Dione Walker also. He will be the leader of our D line by next season with Ed Oliver, if Ed can ever get back on the field. I thought Josh looked fine last night. He made one bad throw on the pick. He was running his ass off, and is elusive enough to give every broken down pass play a chance. Our WR's are just lousy except for Shakir. They don't get open. Finally, kudos to Kincaid. He was a beast last night. He needs at least 10 targets per week. And a thumbs down to the coaching staff. (Except for Special teams.) The team plays with no fire and intensity. And their schemes are lousy and predictable on both sides of the ball. That starts with the coaching staff. No way are they smart enough or creative enough to get us to a Super Bowl. Coaching really does matter.
  25. Agree about Arizona. Wow that was awful.. I bet them -7 1/2. It should have been a run away. Thats a joke of a team. That TD when they kicked the ball in their own endzone after the guy fumbled away the interception, was one of the craziest plays you will ever see.
