  1. Cam Newton has had exactly one good college year at QB in a non-Pro style offense. There is no way to tell if he is the real deal or a true one year wonder -- remember the last one year wonder we picked in round 1 -- Aaron Maybin. Granted -- different positions, but no way I go with a one year wonder with the #3 pick in the draft.
  2. Yes -- an average salary is fair. It would be great if Poz was a back-up next year because that would mean we found someone better. I'm not sure we will. He is not any better than average at best either as a MLB in a 4-3 or an ILB in a 3-4.
  3. Unfortunately, what we got from the Bills was what I expected this year. The Offense played better than I expected (which tells you how little I expected). The Bills defense really regressed this year - I blame that partially on a move to a 3-4 when we had no 3-4 personnel. I hope that we replace our d-coordinator. As far as Niox & Gailey, I am split. Nix did little to find us top talent - Spiller for one was a waste. He may have found some FAs that looked good, but you really have to hit on the top picks to have leaders -- we have not done that in many, many years. Gailey had the team playing hard all year -- with the exception of the 2nd Jets game -- no one looked good there.
  4. Easily Yes -- shore up the defense! Our defensive front 7 may be the worst unit in all of football -- and that is with having Kyle Williams playing who is pretty good. It is a mistake to trade up to get Luck as if we still have this defense we won't win any more games next year than this year. Interesting stats and a good point, but how many teams with 1st round pick QBs are not in the playoffs? If I remember correctly we had a 1st round pick as a QB (Losman) and he was not the answer either. It's not when they are picked, but that they are the right pick.
  5. Anyone who watched the Bills this year has to know the Bills need to fix the defense. Their run defense may be the worst I've seen in the NFL in a long time. If we had the #1 pick I could see going for Luck, but don't give up picks to get him, we need too much.
  6. I for one have seen enough of Brohm now to know why Green Bay give up on him. Watching him today brought back terible memories of #5. Whether you like Fitzpatrick or now, you gotta now know there was a good reason he was playing and Brohm was sitting.
  7. The word is that Edsell of UConn will be named HC of Maryland tomorrow. Appaarently he has recruited the East coast muchh better then Leach, which is the main reason for his selection
  8. I was rooting for a win for the Bills, but that performance should have embarassed each and every player. I could not stand to watch the end of it.
  9. This team neds a major defensive upgrade. I don't want to hear that were just a couple of players away. We've given up over 200 yrds on the ground I believe 6 times this year out of 15. We get fooled when the defense has some stops against poor teams. Look what a good team did yesterday and that was playing conservatively. Not sure anyone other than Williams on theline is worth keeping and maybe Moats can play, but too early to tell. Poz is a back-up at best. Takes the wrong angles on the run and as someone here said yesterday he can't cover toast if he was butter. We will neverbe good until our D gets better.
  10. Next week the Bills need to lose. A win over the Jets will hurt this franchise much more than helping it. I only wish the game meant somethign for the Jets so we could cause them pain. Darn Redskins beating the Jags. Beating the Jets is always good, no matter what. While the higher the draft choice the better, I'm not sure if we continue to draft the way we have that it really matters. We have struck the big zero the last two years in round 1 with both choices being pretty high.
  11. If we are taking an ex-HC as a D-Coordinator then I suggest John Fox who will likely be gone in Carolina. He has done well before.
  12. I won't deny that a QB wuld be good for Buffalo, but anyone who saw our defense today has to believe that we need alot of talented help on that saide of the ball. I keep Williams, Moats, Poz, and Florence, but everyone else is back-up material at best.
  13. It's all about the money. That is all the NFL big wigs and owners care about. The actions thay take shows each and every week that it's not the fans that are important, but the almighty greenback. can you imagine the ratings on the Detroit - Bills game if it was primetime. I'd be watching WWE Raw or The Closer. It's sad, but true.
  14. It's always a good week when the hated Jets lose, but if the Jet faithful can poo poo it by saying the game was meaningless then it takes some of the joy out of it. I hate the Jets and root each week for the Bills and whatever team is playing the Jets.
  15. You need a great pas rush without a ton of blitzing to slow down the pats. Given Buffalo does not have that, I'm not saure how we attack them. My guess is we will look to have them throw short and then pusish the receivers with hard hits. Hope for a turnover or two. Frankly, it's tough to imagine how the Bills will be able to hold the freakin Pats to below 30 points.
  16. Moorman has been disappointing most of this season. I'm not sure if he's done or not. I wonder if the fact that our coverage units are not as good as they were a couple of years back has caused him to try harder to place the ball rather than just kick it.
  17. Well Bills Fans, it could be worse, we could be Redskins (or should I say Deadskins) fans. Strong;y rumored this week to be sitting down the QB (Donavan McNabb) that you gave up a 2 & 3 draft choice for Rex "Freakin" Grossman. This is as disfunctional a franchise as there is in the league. Example #2 - Give $21 million to a player who doesn't give a crap and is suspended for the last 4 games of the year. There is hope yet for the Bills -- a team that makes them look good.
  18. I want my QB (or any high draft pick) to have more than one season of results to examine in order to make him a top draft pick. Cam could be a flash in the pan - a one year wonder. We played that card with Maybin and where did it get us.
  19. I don't like drafting one season wonders. He's done it one year -- not a full resume of performance. Maybin was a one season wonder. How did that work out?
  20. I have two favorite teams each week -- the Bills and whoever is playing the Jets. I hate them. I hope we kick their butts
  21. NEVER hope for losses going into a season -- NEVER Can he afford to take the pay cut that going to the Pros would bring
  22. Which is the bigger disappointment for fans of the team involved? 1. Stevie Johnson dropping the game winning pass in his hands in OT 2. Redskins holder missing the snap on an X-tra point which would have sent the game to OT with 9 seconds left. Bills emotions aside, I'd have to say the X-tra point is more disappointing for a fan as most folks consider that an afterthought, especially when you score on 4th down to get there. Of couse this happening to the Redskins makes it more enjoyable - only better if it was the Jets or Cowpukes.
  23. The Bills found a few players this year who can contribute and realized that a few they thought could contribute will not. We all know who both sets are.
  24. I think it's interesting the the three "large" wideouts taken early in the 2008 NFl draft - James Hardy, Malcom Kelly, and Devon Thomas are busts. The small guy - DeSean Jackson has been a hit. All the experts said you need big wideouts like "Plexiglass" Burres, but that's not true -- or so it seems. What you need are guys who know how to play and are willing to work at it.
