  1. I but that, but of course he has one pro bowler playing in front of him. Kyle willing is not a space eater who take sup blockers, but a player who sheds blockers and penetrates. That's a good skill, but not for s run stuffer, which is what a nose tackle is supposed to be -- hence Kyle Williams is not the NT we need for a 3-4, but a good tackle in a 4-3. Which scheme did the coaches pick to start the year with? IMO - a good coach puts the players he has in schemes where they can perform to the best of their abilities and then looks for players to fit the scheme he wants to play.
  2. This is bad for Buffalo. Not that the Bills would have been able to get Luck, but now it's possible that two top defensive players will be off the board before the Bills select, not just one.
  3. I saw this quote from Poz on the Buffalo web site and am baffled: “First and foremost, we’ve got to figure out why our run defense was so bad and fix those problems,” linebacker Paul Posluszny said. “Whether it’s personnel – do we need bigger, stronger guys? Scheme – are we lining up right? That’s something I know the coaches will take a closer look at starting now and they’ll have answers for us.” DOH! Did he really ask if it was scheme and that the coaches will take a closer look at? We had 16 weeks with a sieve of a run defense and now the coaches will look at it? If they could not figure out why we stunk at stopping the run in 16 weeks, then I have no hope that they will figure it out in the off season. We need someone who can watch film and analyze week over week.
  4. I'd believe that the Easter Bunny is real before I'd beloeve that.
  5. You are so spot on with this comment. We've had many, many tight ends come thru Buffalo with no production from any of them. A team that values the receiving contributions a TE can make would have shown something by now with the folks we had. It's sad to say, but I doubt anyone would know how good Vernon davis is if he had played in Buffalo. All he would catch is the occasional check down.
  6. Al Davis makes Ralph Wilson look brilliant. Ralph is a good old guy, old being the key word, and is not helping make Buffalo a place folks want to come. Of course anyone in their right mind would choose working for Ralph over working for Al
  7. Interesting, but I doubt it's enough to move up to #1. McKelvin, although a Bills 31 pick probably rates no more than a 5th rounder now. Evans lack of production probably rates him as a 4th rounder, maybe a low 3rd. The Bills need much to much other than QB to be making this kind of trade.
  8. I don't think there is too much of a question icw Luck. The issue there is he won't be there when the Bills draft, if he comes out at all. There is no way I could endorse giving up what would be needed to go to #1 and get him. You would have to give up most everythig to go up and then not improve any other part of your team. God knows there are many areas the Bills need improvement in.
  9. How can you possibly think anyone would want McCargo or Maybin. Smoking the wacky weed today I guess. DOH
  10. You are spot on -- we have an Orton and he's named Fitzpatrick. This would be a dumb move.
  11. I agree with you on Clenents and probably Whitner (although I have not seen his demands), but I think Winfield probably was -- he is still a productive player in this league. Bottom line is if you are not going to retain the player after the initial contract because top flight CB's get big bucks, don't take them early in the 1st round to begin with. Training someone elses star is not a smart move.
  12. We've done this before with DB's -- Winfield, Clements, Whitner We won't pay them when they come to contract #2 so why take them and dev elop them for someone else.
  13. That is a good question as well. It comes down to character and maturity.
  14. I won't say it's a bad idea and if he's available in round #2 then it might be a good choice. I like guys with multiple years of experience.
  15. It only will pay to get a tight end if we are going to use him for other than a blocker. I'm not sure it's the tight ends we have (although no one confuses Schulmann with Tony Gonzalez). but the scheme we run. quick question -- does anyone think Scott Chandler could be our future starting tight end?
  16. As sad as it was to watch the Bills this year, Fitzpatrick made watching at least a little enjoyable. I was amazed how he did something with the nothing that the team was. Can you imagine watching any more games with either Trent Edwards or Brian Brohm as the QB. The games they played were unwatchable. Fitzpatrick is certainly not Tom Brady, Payton Manning, or even Drew Breese, but her is also not the worst QB in the league. At least i could watch the team on offense when he played. Could not when he did not.
  17. I wish I knew. I didn't see Edwards doing any positive this year. We had bad talent last year, but Fewell made it work by getting the team to create turnovers. This year we couldn't stop the run and we did not create very many turnovers. With the way the defense played this year the question to ask is how did we ever get 4 wins -- must be some other real bad teams out there.
  18. Since the talk is all about drafting a QB ... Before a team drafts a QB in the 1st round, I think about some words I heard from Mel Kiper (I know lots of people hate him, but he makes sense here)are important. You need to look outside the physical attributes. Questions to be answered include: 1. Is he the first guy in the training room and the last guy to leave the film room? 2. Do other players follow his lead on the field and his work ethic off the field? 3. Is he the player who knows the game plan best? 4. Does he mope around when things go bad or not his way? These are the intangibles you don't see on Saturday, but are crucial. Think of the failures as highly drafted QBs and I'd bet you'll find that many don't have positive answers to these questions. Do we know the answers to these questions for Luck, Newton, Gabbert, Mallot, ...?
  19. IMO - Nobody is trading up to #3 to get a QB unless Luck falls to #3. If he does, and I don't think he will, then the Bills should take him there. None of the other QBs are worth going up to #3 for. I'm not sure any of the other QBs are worth a top 10 pick - they all have worts of one kind or another. The QB I like best after Luck is Blaine Gabbert and unfortunately I don't think he'll fall to round 2 and he is not worth a #3 pick.
  20. Haynesworth is a load of dung. The omnly year he had in which he tried at all was the year he was gearing up for a big payday. Being close to redskin country, you could not believe how much of a waste of talent he is. He's lazy and only works for Albert. He makes T.O. look like a team player.
  21. would not give up anything -- the team needs alot more than Luck.
  22. I think a good draft and especially a quuality 1st round pick will start to bring the optimism back to the Buffalo faithful. The fans have seen poor team for many years and then wasted 1st round picks that do not improve the team. What do you think is the last good 1st round pick the Bills made? Maybe lee Evans in 2004 or Nate Clements in 2001. That's a long time to be flubbing up your top picks. If we had hit on only 1/2 of our first round picks -- and that's a low bar to reach for -- we would be much better off. Worse yet, we traded up twice for flops, giving up valuable later picks. Until we improve our 1st 3 rounds selection in the draft we will continue to be a disappointing team.
  23. If we can't draft Luck at #3 (and we won't be able to -- not even sure he will come out) there is no way we should draft a QB at #3. We need to shore up our defense big time. I saw some posts about us taking the WR from Georgia. If we do that it will be more stupid that the Spiller pick of last year and that's saying something. Fix what is really broken and our defense is shattered into 1000 pieces. WR is not broken nearly as bad.
