EJ as Evaluated by FSU fans - Caution: pretty brutal
MDH replied to moshermw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe he will maybe he won't. I'm willing to give him time. If he earns the starting gig, great, if not, so be it, he can learn from the sidelines. Not sure why there is so much crap directed at him other than it's the internet and that's what people do. -
EJ as Evaluated by FSU fans - Caution: pretty brutal
MDH replied to moshermw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last time I checked young QBs struggle with accuracy until they get comfortable with the system and speed of the game. If you are rushing your throws because you're unsure of what you're seeing it leads to - wait for it - inaccurate throws. All the talk of "you can't improve accuracy" is a bunch of bunk. Most QBs have their completion percentage improve through their first 4-5 years in the league. It's amazing to me how nobody will cut this kid any slack. You'd think he was a douchebag with as much as people pile on a young guy trying to learn the position. -
EJ as Evaluated by FSU fans - Caution: pretty brutal

I'd wager that EJ will have a very long NFL career. He's got the tools and is self motivated and works hard. That's not a guy who will wash out of the NFL. It's possible he never develops into a legit starter, but there is always a place in the league for QBs like him. Hell, despite how many here want to paint things he's still in this QB competition and is giving Cassel a run for his money. Cassel being the 10 year vet. But yeah, EJ will wash out of the league... -
Geno Smith Punched, Jaw Broken, Out 6-10 Wks
MDH replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't expect anybody to stand up for him but I would expect the leadership in the locker room to break it up and attempt to de-escalate the situation. Two teammates get into a heated argument and everybody just stands around and watches until one of them is lying on the floor with a broken jaw? -

Yeah, I'm with you. An argument, even with a finger in the face, isn't provocation to punch somebody. A finger to the face might provoke a shove, or a "you best get your finger out of my face!", but to straight out deck the guy mid-argument? What world do you guys live in who don't think this is a "sucker punch?" That being said, at the Jets. -
Bills training camp practice 8/11
MDH replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those guys in your example devoted their lives to football. They didn't just show up at practice/games, watch it and report what they saw. I've watched football for almost all of my 40+ years on the planet but that doesn't make me qualified to understand what's going on in practice - and I'm talking specifics - unless I've truly studied the game and/or know what the staff is working on and who is responsible for what on any given play. I've seen thousands of plays on Saturdays and Sundays where I'm not sure who's mistake it was because I don't know each player's assignments. I never hear that sentiment reported by any of the media tweeting from camp. That's where the frustration comes from. It's full blown coverage without any understanding. -
Bills training camp practice 8/11

Where is EJ failing in practice? He had a poor outing yesterday but otherwise most reports having him play pretty well in the past 5 or so practices/scrimmage. Nobody has separated themselves in practice so this thing isn't going to be decided based on a few practices. If someone lights it up this weekend and next they'll take the reigns. My guess is that whomever looks better between Tyrod and EJ gets the start in the 2nd game. If they perform well this week and next the job is theirs. If everybody sh*ts the bed they'll go with Cassel. -

I wonder if Roman has the final say on the starting QB. -

Wouldn't that have made him 4/7? Sacks wouldn't count as attempts. -

It's also strange how most were pointing to the scrimmage as the thing that was going to separate them. Now it's the practice after the scrimmage that is the most important? All these guys are performing on about an even level in practices with perhaps Cassel being at the bottom more than the other guys. The pre-season games will determine the starter. If Tyrod or EJ light it up in multiple games and play consistent football then the one who does that will be the starter and nobody will remember one Monday practice. -
Matt Cassel to start Panthers Preseason game 1
MDH replied to Beef Jerky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The question that should be asked is if he is going to the "right" spot with the ball why doesnt he move the team better? He should easily look the best yet thats not what is being reported. If he is going to the right spot and still doesnt look good then he has, by far, the worst accuracy of the bunch. -
Yeah, for some reason I can't ever recall which letter is doubled so looked at the post I was replying to and mimicked the spelling. I blame Fixxxer!

Yeah, I don't think Cassell is getting cut either. My guess is that either EJ or Tyrod wins the job with Cassell as the #2 and if the starter gets hurt the #3 guy will be the starter with Cassell still being the #2. As you say, Cassell's experience can help the young guys in a lot of ways and his presence is invaluable.

It does make you question how legit the "QB competition" is when the other two are consistently outplaying Cassel yet he still gets most of the time with the 1s. I'm not too worried about it at this point as it's early but if this continues for another month and Cassel is the starter I'll wonder why they had a QB Competition at all. If they wanted Cassel in there they should have just given Cassel all the reps with the 1s. At the end of the day I don't think Cassel will be the starter though. I think they've put him in front of the others simply as a sign of respect to the vet. But at some point in the very near future they need to get this whittled down to two guys. It won't serve the team to have all these reps getting split. The earlier a decision is made the better.

Bills' Camp @ SJF: Week 1 Day 6 - Begins on Page 64

Having a bad practice is now "regressing?" Hes inconsistent, which isnt the same thing. -
The ending scene from Ghost. I couldn't find a shortened version online but just watch the first 90 seconds and that will be enough. Find a major motion picture with worse special effects.

They are four practices in and - by most accounts - EJ has looked the best in 2 of them. It's no more likely that he doesn't win the job now than it was since they traded for Cassel and signed Tyrod. Not sure what you're even talking about. The moment there was an open competition there was a real possibility EJ didn't win the job. -

The funny thing is that each pass in training camp is dissected and overblown more than passes in actual games. Nobody goes point by point over every single incomplete pass or near INT in a regular season game but they do just that in a practice session. It's beyond ridiculous. -

Yeah, but nobody is going to click on a link to hear you compliment your neighbor. Now, if you were to rip him a new one you'd likely get quite a few people to come and watch/read that. -
Do yourself a favor, Google: "Linday Lohan Instagram"
MDH replied to boyst's topic in Off the Wall Archives
What am I supposed to be seeing? Looking at her Instagram now and don't see anything out of the ordinary for Instagram. Did something get deleted that I'm not seeing? -
As others have said, thanks Astro! Very much appreciated.

It doesn't speak well of Watkins' maturity when things like this come out of his mouth. Even if it's true you don't go to the press with this kind of stuff. This is the type of thing you joke around with your teammates about and it ends there.

Nobody stops for them, but some people pay attention. I've seen plenty of outstanding musicians on the subways in NYC, DC and London but there is a reason I'm on the subway - I'm going someplace. I don't usually have time to stop and listen even when they are good. I'll just drop some money in their case and be on my way.

Bills OL coach Aaron Kromer arrested (Suspended 6 games)
MDH replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with this. I'm all for waiting for all the facts to be revealed before deciding how I feel about this issue (and want the Bills to do the same) though it's pretty disturbing all the posts in this thread who make the assumption that most of the blame lies with the "punks" and they had it coming. And posters on this board think Pats' homers are the only ones who are delusional. -
I went to a NE game during the early 90s and the place was half full. Boton is a great sports town if you are the Red Sox or the Celtics. Before Brady the Pats were always 3rd fiddle.
