Wow, if I were the NO owner, I'd institute a policy of just never signing any of our players to big contracts. What a mess for them between Spiller and Byrd.

With a redshirt freshman seeing his first action, they will try to keep it simple. The way this game is going though, they are going to have to open it up soon...

I'm really excited about his potential. Leaning toward taking him early (mid-2nd) in fantasy this year.

This is a great point. Ball control, smart returns, and an occasional swing pass out of the backfield would be well worth it. That PR fumble against the Pats still haunts me.

I would agree with you if the contracts were guaranteed. This is a two-way street in the NFL.

Don't be ridiculous. It's a new all-running back offensive line formation--at least it would have been if the suspensions didn't mess it up.

If things don't pan out, won't we draft a QB and see what the Ohio State kid has (and probably sign a journeyman to compete for the starting job)? In that situation, we still wouldn't end up paying a QB big money for a long while.

I might be alone in this, but I think a decent number 3 is in that group. One or two will emerge, and they'll probably add others before training camp.

They should name the teams, but instead of a game, have a series of competitive skills competitions. They could be a mix of traditional contests (speed competitions, accuracy matches) and off the wall things (maybe even a volleyball game or Horse). This wouldn't be for adults, but for kids who would really get into this sort of thing. They could spread it out across a whole day. The winning team might get some money and a patch to add to their uniform or something else that plays into their narcissistic tendencies.

Don't you have to figure that the numbers would be altered for a team that regularly goes for two (and theoretically becomes better than average at doing so?)

I think we'll get some favorable calls from the refs this week. The NFL would love to have Pitt make it in. At the end of the day, that might be the difference in this game.

If the Jets make the playoffs, I'm rooting for Fitz and Gailey. That being said, I'm rooting against them next week. I know that doesn't make much sense, but I'm a Bills fan, so that is kind of my thing. I'm rooting for Arizona in the NFC. I would love to see Palmer and Fitzgerald get a ring.

Against conventional wisdom, but given the importance of field goals and the extended extra points, a 3rd round pick makes sense if you're getting a great franchise kicker.

Agreed. That was one of the worst halftime shows I've ever seen, and they are normally pretty bad.
