Bills meeting with Syracuse DT Arthur Jones?
Steely Dan replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, Linky LMM SIGNS NFL DRAFT PICK: Lock Metz & Malinovic has signed Syracuse defensive tackle Arthur Jones for representation. Jones was No. 9 in Web site NFLDraftBlitz.com’s mock draft last week and was ranked No. 48 by Web site NFLDraftScout last week. He will be represented by firm principals Ethan Lock, Eric Metz, Vance Malinovic and Joe Panos, a former NFL player and recently NFLPA-certified agent who joined LMM earlier this year. Panos said he thinks his experience in the NFL was a factor in Jones’ decision. “I can relate to the kids because whatever is going to happen to these kids happened to me,” said Panos, who played guard for seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills after being a third-round draft pick in 1994. Among the things he can relate to, he said, is “some of the lines” prospective draft prospects will hear from agents. Panos said he is ecstatic to have Jones as his first client. “I am very fortunate to come out of the gate and get a kid like Arthur,” he said. -
Brandon has zero influence in draft
Steely Dan replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why would contract size matter to Ralph? He has to spend a set amount of money on players. If contracts enter into it then they enter into it the same way they do with other teams. JP doesn't disprove it somewhat he disproves it all. I don't understand why people think Ralph is cheap when it comes to players, his history proves otherwise. I think his administrations have tried to spend wisely. Unfortunately, it's dumb decisions and not money that are the teams woes. BTW, how did signing Albert Haynesworth to that godawful contract last year help the (picking #4) Redskins last year? -
Brandon has zero influence in draft
Steely Dan replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Ralph usually, this might have changed with Nix, does it semi-democratically with himself, the HC and GM all having a say in the decision. I'm sure if Ralph wanted to he could push his choice but I don't think he does that. I heard a rumor somewhere before that RW wanted Flutie instead of BS but acquiesced to his football men. I have no idea how true that is but RW doesn't strike me as a Dan Snyder or JJ type owner. Your evidence of this is what? -
As an amateur I'll give it a shot. It depends if St. Louis is willing to trade the pick at all. If they are going to do it the minimum value according to the draft value chart would be 1600 points. The number one pick is worth 3000 points. The ninth pick is worth 1400 points. (The last pick in the draft is worth .2) So Buffalo needs to make up approx. 1600 points after giving away the number 9 pick. Why do I say approx? The value is fluid and many things enter into it. IMO The value is affected by many things: how many teams want the pick, who's the top rated pick, how much does a team need that position, the probable contract value and cap availability of both teams. This why it's hard to peg a price. The problem with moving up is not only are teams giving away a bunch of picks but they are also tying up a huge amount of cap money in one guy who may or may not pan out. Just look at some of the previous number one's. A bad #1 pick can hamstring a team for years. The number of teams vying for the #1 pick are so few. Jerry Jones even said a couple of years ago that he wouldn't trade into the top ten due to contracts. So if the Bills want the pick they need to get the 1600 points from somewhere. Their second pick (41) is worth 500 points, the third pick (72) is worth 104, the fourth (112) is worth 72. The scRams aren't probably going to want all of them this year so depending on where they think the Bills will be picking next year some value can be made from those. Somebody here said next years picks are worth half value from this years and that makes sense to me. So even if Buffalo gives up the 9th, 41st and 72nd pick this year they would still be 924 points in the hole. So next years first rounder would be part of the deal and maybe another pick too. It's just not worth it. There wouldn't be an OT or NT that would help this team immediately in the fourth round.

Langston Walker back to the hole

I can't believe there is any team more desperate for OL than Buffalo but I guess I'm wrong. -
Deano suggested Avira to me and I think it's much better than McAfee. Norton I don't have history with but I believe Deano thinks it's even better than that too. You can get a one year free download on the net. I also have Malwarebytes and like it. My Avira has been pretty busy the last few months finding about 6 virus' in the last four months. That's more than in the year prior to that combined.

This is why it's ridiculous, IMO, to believe that the NFL wants Buffalo to move anywhere. It's that kind of fan commitment that will keep the team here. All of the people who call for boycotts are only trying to get the team to a different city. What he said.

Trade down for Morgan or Iupati ???
Steely Dan replied to BillsCelticsAngelsBama's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Iupati has an Eric Wood type attitude. If the Bills took him I'd love it because the line would be all kinds of nasty. However, IMO they have bigger fish to fry and there will be guys just as good at other more needy positions. JMO He's an above average PR but not elite. He had 12.5 sacks last year and seven the year before. Since Buffalo sucked against the run last year I'd like to see as many run stuffers as possible. If the Bills can force teams to consistantly throw into their secondary they will have a top 10 defense, IMO. Agreed, I love his attitude. Unfortunately there are about 5 guys I'd love to see become Bills out of the first round and they only have one pick. -
Might be a early run on OT's in the draft
Steely Dan replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In all my years of mock drafting I've never hit one right. So I doubt it will happen. If I get one pick right I'll be surprised and if I hit on one draft pick after round 1 I'll be amazed. If I hit on one after the first round and it matches where I had him going I'll probably faint. JMO, if four of the OT's are gone and the Bills go with the best player available route then they may take him. Some can argue that the best player on the board then would be Spiller but gradewise I don't think they're that far off of each other. It's also a player that has been with Gailey before and so Chansaw would know him very well. If they take him it will probably be with more information than most teams have on the kid. Maybin is best suited at OLB IMO. -
There aren't as many self made men as you'd think IMO. A lot of them come from wealth or have wealthy contacts through family. I don't want another George W.

I did too for a second but then realized it must be George. Had it been a Dennis the Menace movie then it obviously would've been George Wilson. -
Might be a early run on OT's in the draft
Steely Dan replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't mind at all. It isn't a position of dire need but a great DE is always a need unless a team has two BS's. A DE can disrupt an offense more than any other D player IMO. -

Might be a early run on OT's in the draft
Steely Dan replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It wouldn't surprise me at all to see them take Derrick Morgan no matter who's available. He's the top rated DE in the draft and was recruited by Gailey. He can be effective in the 3-4 as a DE or OLB, he's also a DE in a 4-3 alignment. I think the Bills will play both 3-4 and 4-3 in situations this year. The Pro Football Weekly Draft Preview pegs him as a top 15 pick. The NT and OT positions are the deepest in the draft so sitting back for a round for an OT isn't a big deal, JMO. This is also a possibility, IMO, because as far as I know the Bills haven't mentioned him once. -
Way too often the choice is the lesser of two mooks.
-
Why would anyone waste a draft pick because they think Oakland will do something smart? JMO You can look at the Bills being unlucky this year or you can look at them being very lucky. DT and OT are the deepest positions in this draft. JMO

Linkage And now they have released Adams, who gave up a career-high eight sacks, according to Stats Inc. in 2009, and Hamlin, who has one interception in the last two seasons. Both players will find new employers, and they might enjoy solid seasons. But this is the right thing to do, even if a bit dangerous at left tackle. Since 2003 Adams was selected to five Pro Bowls, although he had some maddening false-start penalties. The Cowboys were willing to live with some of the mistakes as long as he protected Tony Romo’s blindside.

Hey don't knock it. It saved Lois Lane's life!!
-
I doubt anyone offers him more than a two year, JMO. Sometimes when a guy is released it angers them and they want to prove the former team wrong. If he can re-invigorate his passion he might have a year or two left, at worst he would be solid depth. JMO I believe that Buddy won't overpay for him, if he wants him at all.

I don't agree with you on a lot of them but Nixon definitely doesn't belong on that list. Say what you will about Richard Nixon but he was a brilliant man. He was extremely intelligent. (That's not sarcasm) His only stupidity was in trusting the three stooges to actually bug the Democrats without getting anyone's suspicions up. Anyone who thought he meant that literally is the idiot, JMO
