When will the Bills STOP signing FA's?!
Steely Dan replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you'll hear a lot of people who have no idea what a DE in a 3-4 is supposed to do. They'll look at the sack numbers and scream he sucks. They'll try to compare him to BS without realizing what a freak BS was. Hopefully this move will make a lot more people realize that if BS played in a 4-3 he might have 300 sacks!! -
Here's a BN article about both players; http://www.buffalonews.com/2010/03/16/9898...with-davis.html "I'm very excited," Davis told reporters on a conference call before flying back to Denver. "It's definitely a great feeling. I'm happy to be here. What closed the deal was the fact that I felt very welcome. It's a blessing and I'm happy this whole situation is over with. Now I'm focused on helping the team achieve the next step." ________________________________ "I've gotten better every year I've been with the Ravens," said Edwards, 28. "Unfortunately I had the injury in '08 but I came back strong and probably had the most productive year of my career. I'm looking forward to continuing to grow and improve and be a great addition." Edwards has a good grasp of his job in the 3-4 defense. "It's definitely not a glamorous position," he said. "You free up the linebackers to make a lot of plays. When it's your turn to make a play you make that play. But definitely it's being able to set the edge and hold the point. It's a lot of grimy dirty work. I've kind of been brought up to do that work and not get a lot of maybe credit or respect for it. But that's the job when you play in the 3-4." Me likey dese dudes!!!

With the 9th pick .... Dan Williams

Any pick but Dan Williams will really disappoint me., if not make me; Not only is he a great player at a huge position of need for Buffalo, keeping him from Miami is an added bonus. -

Well you have to admit it took them 11 days to get three guys signed, what were they waiting for!!! That's almost two weeks!! -
Cash2Cap prohibits back-loading. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/fa?playerId=5576 Dwan Edwards | DT Complete player profile Full Name: Dwan Sedaine Edwards Born: May 16, 1981 Billings, MT Height: 6-3 Weight: 290 lbs. Age: 28 Pos: DT Experience: 7 years College: Oregon State Drafted: Year:2004 Round:2 Pick:19, Ravens Edwards had his most productive season of his six-year career for the Ravens' defense. He is a high-effort player who can contribute to the Ravens' multiple fronts as an interior lineman as well as defensive end. While he isn't powerful enough at the point to handle the nose, he is very resilient and battles to the whistle. He is a good athlete who fits best as an end in Baltimore's 3-4 defensive schemes. Edwards has improved his hand usage at the point of attack shedding blockers better than in previous seasons. Edwards continues to struggle as a pass-rusher and needs to continue to develop more creative moves and counters to contribute in this area. Edwards has made marked improvements over the past two seasons and has been a consistent performer for the Ravens.

With Davis signing and possibly Edwards
Steely Dan replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Technically, they spent a first round pick on one last year. I'd much rather see them go for a NT (Dan Williams) in the first round, that is far more important than OLB. JMO -

Dude, I work for the giant octopus anti-defamation league and I find that offensive. Giant octopi have a hard enough time overcoming stereotypes without you claiming one as a family member. Next time before you post please consider the feelings of those you choose mock. -
I give you mad props for coming back and apologizing. Soooo many people here will behave the same way and never apologize. At least you handled it as a man.

Florio is just reporting Schefters twitter about an agreement being reached and somehow adding that it has been signed. Geez reporting in this day and age sucks. When the Bills, Lori, JW or TG report it I'll believe it.
-
Ummm, he asked a very reasonable question at the time because there were conflicting reports. Take a chill pill and relax. Why the hostility?

http://www.nfl.com/players/dwanedwards/profile?id=EDW667014 Nothing to write home about but definitely A GREAT signing for this team right now. He should help smooth the transition to the 3-4.

Can I have a glass of whatever you're drinking? http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-b...ley&prov=ap ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP)—Don’t expect Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey to choose a starting quarterback anytime soon. Having evaluated the three quarterbacks on his roster, Gailey said Tuesday he anticipates holding an open competition to determine who will win the job. And Gailey didn’t rule out the team selecting a quarterback in the draft next month, or the possibility of acquiring an established starter in a trade or in free agency. “We’re trying to leave no stone unturned,” Gailey said during a brief availability with the media at the team’s headquarters. “Unless something different happens between now and post-draft, to me it’s an open competition for the job and we’ll see what happens. … We’ve got to see who can rise to the top.” Ummm...I..I...I agr...agre...agree. Th-th-th...anks JW. I'd much prefer a ho' down!! Woo! Woo! Wooohooo!!

http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/03/16/k...ve-competition/ If free agent visitor Andra Davis ends up getting something done with the Bills, inside linebackers Paul Posluszny and Kawika Mitchell could have some veteran competition. Davis has been an inside LB for all of his time in a 3-4 scheme, mostly on the strong side. He would be some of the stiffest competition those two incumbent backers would face since they’ve been in Buffalo. Of course Davis knows competing with those two linebackers would not be an easy task either. “If it worked out I’d just come here and compete,” he said. ”They’ve got some good backers here already. I bring experience and leadership and I would just come here and compete.” The coaching staff has intimate working knowledge of Davis’ game, since defensive coordinator George Edwards was his linebackers coach in Cleveland in 2004. If he in fact comes to an agreement with the Bills it would be one of the more interesting training camp competitions, but this is what GM Buddy Nix wanted to develop on the roster right away. His motto of competition makes everyone better is evident with this free agent visit. And what they also create is dependable depth, something the LB position has lacked the past few years.

Why doesn't Schoebel want to be traded?

Schobel is a loyal Bills player. It makes me like him even more! -
I saw the spine guy here today, Dr. Cappuccino and he said everything looked good. If Cappuccino thinks he's ok then he's ok.

This gives the Bills a little less pressure to get an ILB early in the draft. JMO

I'm not sure about on the field, I haven't been paying too much attention to Foote, but he definitely seems to be a much better choice as far as understanding the system.
