  1. Remember when people thought Robert Woods getting 5/34 was outrageous?
  2. i've believed DL was going to be the pick all along. this only reinforces it...
  3. I absolutely love Kyle. I knew he was the best player on our defense in his 2nd year. Wall of Famer....no doubt. Retired jersey? Not quite.
  4. Per the team on Twitter
  5. if my GM of the Bills what?
  6. "Are you still a believer in Santa Claus? 'Cuz at seven it's marginal, right?"
  7. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited about the cap room, but there are several other, BETTER teams, with a ton of cap room as well. Playoff teams like Indy, Houston, and Dallas all have 50 + mil. As far as 10 picks go, all the extra picks are day 3, so not going to get overly excited for that. They blew 2 2's and 3 3's in trades for Benjamin, Zay, Allen and Edmunds. That's 5 potential impact starters. Let's hope those guys develop to make it worth it.
  8. Uh, they're going to get 4.5 savings for cutting Clay after the year.
  9. Double sigh If you spend $1 on gum, how much did the gum cost? This isn't rocket science. Yes, Maybin and Dareus cost a 1st. That was the price to secure their service.
  10. Sigh. He was our 1st round pick in 2014 and 2015 That's 2 1st round picks.
  11. yes, because the run happened before/at the dawn of free agency, they had no choice i guess you forgot about the Bickering Bills.... they grew to love each other and are extremely close now, but if you're remembering it being like that at the beginning, you are dead wrong.
  12. yes, bash your head against the wall while having a Jim Kelly avatar. Those players on those teams basically hated each other. They were a tremendous team because they had several elite talents. Would clapping and praying have won them the SB?
  13. Unless of course they decide to use those extra picks in trade ups...again.
  14. I think Sal is good at what he does, but he is a homer. It's funny listening to him and Jeremy talk in the mornings because you know they're friends, but absolutely disagree about what is important in building a team. Sal is like many of you, he thinks all wins matter, and would just generally feel good after a win. Jeremy on the other hand understands that there is no such thing as momentum carrying over from season to season and that good players make a team good, not clapping and prayers.
  15. Clay is not a wash financially. he saves 4.5mil. Even on a team with a ton of cap room, does it makes sense to carry 2 veterans who have been minimal contributors who next year would cost 18 million? or you could cut them both and add another 10.5 mil to the pile. I think it's worth it to move on from both. Remember, cap space rolls over. So savings are savings. It is not use it or lose it.
  16. because you can never have too many good young cheap players. to assume the Bills are going to get a good OL, WR or TE in free agency at this point is wishful thinking. They are not the only team with cap room. Jets, Browns, Colts, Dallas, Raiders, Cards, Texans, Seahawks, Niners, Bengals all have over 50m in cap room. There is going to be a lot of competition for the players who do get to market. That's likely going to cause most of these players to get paid more than they're worth. That's why drafted players are preferable, because of cost control.
  17. Have you ever looked at mock drafts even this time of year against what ends up happening? There are guys being projected as 1st rounders today that might end up going in the 5th round in 6 months, and vice versa. For the record, McShay does have 2 QB's going in his top 10. But as of now, 7 of the teams picking in the top 10 have either young QB's or QB's making a butt ton of money. Jax, Tampa and NYG would likely be looking QB. Those teams could be willing to pay to move up to secure a QB knowing a team looking for a defender would take the extra assets while pushing D prospects down the board.
  18. Sorry, don't buy it. Never have. Remember when the Bills were 0-8 and had the inside track to the #1 pick in possibly the best draft in NFL history? They brought Fitz in, went 4-4 and ended up picking Dareus, who was about the only non QB bust in the top 11 that year. Did those 4 big wins carry over to the next year, or did it just stop them from drafting their franchise QB for 7 more years?
  19. Yep. Again, it was for QB's, so it was different, but look at last year. The Colts added 2 2nd's and went from 3 to 6 The Bills traded 2 2nd's to go from 12 to 7. So THEORETICALLY, a team like the Colts could have gone from 3 to 12 and added 4 2nd round picks. Obviously they chose not to and added Nelson, and they have been much improved. But the ability to do it was there. There is really no better chance to stock your cupboards than to be picking high and know you DON'T need a QB.
  20. Beane has already stated he is BPA. They will not reach for need. As unpopular as it may be, if a defender is the top player on the board, they're taking a defender. That's where trading down factors in. If they have 3-4 guys rated the same and can trade down, add assets and still get a guy they like at say 16 as they would at 10, that's a win-win. This is not a year where the draft prospects align with our needs. My desire to be at the top of the board is purely for trade down reasons. Would you rather finish 6-10 and pick 14 , or have finished 4-12, and pick 4th? And then theoretically trade down 1 or 2 times to 14 and add 3 or 4 more assets? That's how you fill the holes in the roster.
  21. Do you think that will stop teams from doing it? McBeane has traded up 4 times in 2 drafts. They gave up a 5,3,2,2,3 for Zay, Dawkins, Allen and Edmunds. That's 4 potential guys who would likely be contributing. The Allen deal "had to" be done. The others didn't. They traded up because they thought those guys were better than other guys they could have gotten in their original spots. Draft picks are lottery tickets, and GM's will always treat them as such. Sometimes you'd rather have more tickets, and sometimes you will trade extra tickets for a guy you feel is a sure winner. That will never stop.
  22. Chicago 2016 Leonard Floyd Cleveland 2014 Justin Gilbert Miami 2013 Dion Jordan Dallas 2012 Morris Claiborne Is it common, no. Are we asking for a ridiculously specific example, yes.
  23. If we beat the Pats then everyone above can kick me in the junk for my statement above. THAT win would be worth it. As others are saying, yes, this is a D heavy draft and Beane has stated he will take BPA. But on a team with a lot of holes, how much would you love a Colts-esque trade down from 3 to 6 to add 2 2nd's? I know that was for a QB, but when you're talking top 5 picks, all bets are off.
  24. No, it's not. Don't get me wrong, while I am excited to see Allen develop, the draft position never stops being important. 3 days after the season ends, you will not remember these useless victories, but you will then immediately wish we picked higher.
