This is his exact quote: "Cowher is not here today guys. That's what I was told." As far as I know, that's the only place I've seen him report it.

McDermott originally joined the Eagles in 1998 as a scouting administrative coordinator, a position he held until being promoted to assistant to the head coach in 1999. He then became defensive quality control coach and later assistant defensive backs coach. In 2003 he replaced Steve Spagnuolo as defensive backs coach, as Spagnuolo was assigned linebackers coach. In 2004, McDermott saw both of his starting safeties (Brian Dawkins and Michael Lewis) earn Pro Bowl berths for the first time in team history. Under McDermott's watch, Dawkins went on to earn two more Pro Bowl berths following the 2005 and 2006 seasons. In 2007, McDermott was assigned linebackers coach, after Spagnuolo had left for the New York Giants. On January 28, 2008, Eagles head coach Andy Reid named McDermott secondary coach again. On May 18, 2009, McDermott was named the interim Defensive Coordinator as a result of defensive coordinator Jim Johnson's medical leave of absence. On July 24, 2009, due to the continuing decline of Johnson, the Eagles announced McDermott would take over as full time Defensive Coordinator. Johnson died on July 28, 2009.

He may be young, but he has been on the Eagles coaching staff for 11 years.

He is only 35 years old, and will be able to relate to players more easily. He has been skyrocketing up the ranks in the eagles organization. Andy Reid is a very good coach, and he thinks very highly of McDermott He runs the 12th rated defense in the league. He is a rising star in the league, and it won't be long before he is hired as a HC somewhere. He certainly doesn't have the experience Nix is looking for, but he could very well be the next hot-shot coach in the league.

Cutler was never very good. He had 20 turnovers in his last year at Denver. He also threw the ball the 9th most times in league history. He may have had 4,500 yards, but it took him almost 40 attempts a game to reach it.

I don't know how you can call him a franchise QB. Cutler wasn't even that good in Denver, and has been horrible for Chicago. Kyle Orton does not suck. I'm sure EVERY Bills fan would take 3,800 yards and 21 TDs with 12 INTs. Kyle is a much better QB that Jay Cutler as this point in their careers.

What does overdorff have to do with anything? The guy negotiates contracts.

Cutler wasn't that good in Denver, and won't be very good in Chicago. He has always made terrible decisions and thrown a high amount of interceptions. You cant win in the NFL if you turn the ball over. The top QBs are all very accurate and make good decisions. Cutler is nothing like those guys.

Chicago got hosed by Denver in that trade.

He will be snatched up in a second. There are a lot of NFL teams bad on special teams.

If the Bills really are going after Cowher hard, look for Modrak to keep his job. John Clayton was on WGR 550 and said Cowher knows and likes Modrak.
