  1. What's even funnier to me is that it's them who are behaving as if their hair is on fire.
  2. He oppressed the elephants. The bastard.
  3. Your original post began with this sentence: " There should be a whole bunch of angry Trump supporters after today's video." Wouldn't you think that after 24 hours, we'd be seeing story after story about pissed off Trump supporters? My disagreement is with your assessment of Trump supporters, and the implication that they are a bunch of pissed-off, nationalist rednecks.
  4. That remains to be seen. I saw that entire video, and I saw nothing too radical either way. In fact, I found the cooperative spirit among the participants to be extremely refreshing. The only pundit I've heard whose head is about to explode over it is Ann Coulter. I suspect that your idea of how Trump supporters are may be a bit inaccurate, but again, that remains to be seen.
  5. This is a perfect example of how most of us are actually in agreement on a lot of the fundamentals. Once we're aware of that fact, it makes getting along and having a real discussion a hell of a lot easier.
  6. Yeah, Obama always timed his trips to Austin to coincide either with afternoon rush hour or lunch time. Traffic around here is bad enough when the roads are open. To his credit, once GW became president and moved out of Austin, he rarely came back.
  7. I heard that reported today as well, only worded slightly differently: 5% positive reporting for Trump vs 80% positive for Obama, but I believe there was a caveat stating that the numbers were from "mainstream" news outlets, not from all sources. The numbers include the major networks as well as cable outlets. Of course Trump uses twitter to antagonize - he's using it to blast people who are reporting things he believes to be either false or unfair, including entire networks. It's not a question of "not aligning" with him.
  8. How many remember this? RIP
  9. If you didn't like Obama., then you were racist. If you didn't like Hillary, you were a sexist, misogynist pig. If I was Oprah, I would marry Ellen and choose Caitlyn Jenner as a running mate.
  10. Maybe - I'm giving Paulus the benefit of the doubt for the moment. I support legalized marijuana too, but I don't let my bias interfere with my understanding of how the legislative process works within the framework of the constitution. The_Dude on the other hand is simply ignoring facts in order to continue his self-righteous rant. Some people are still screaming helplessly at the sky, apparently.
  11. Are you serious, or just drunk-posting?
  12. I will, but not nearly as frequently as I used to. Nowadays it has to be someone who is older or appears to be a veteran, or appear to be truly down on their luck. There's too many in Austin that are young and able-bodied, hanging out with their dog, girlfriend, or both. I ignore them. Not long ago I was moved by one person in particular - a disheveled, solitary man appearing to be in his sixties or so, holding a sign that said "I have nobody". That hit me pretty hard, so I gave him the only bill in my wallet: a ten dollar bill. My buddy said "he's only going to go across the street and spend it on alcohol", to which I replied "good - I hope he does".
  13. Sincere condolences. I'm very sorry to hear this. You and your family are in my prayers.
  14. But can't you see? He's stated it clairvointley (sic) over and over.
  15. Nice! I have no idea how many t-shirts I own, but it's a lot. They're all black, too. Mostly concert tees (everything from Sabbath/Purple/BOC to King Diamond/Ghost) and a lot of horror movie tees as well. I have one that' pretty much just rags now, that's from Cassidy's - an old bar on main street that I believe burned a long time ago. I bought it in '79 or '80 - dark yellow print on black, advertising "Freddie's Special" - free shots after a spin of a roulette wheel.
  16. Slow Friday? I certainly see it differently than you do, but I appreciate the honest reply. Why on Earth would I want to join you at the kiddie table? There's too much "me against the world" hysteria over there.
  17. So what you are saying then is that there is typically a partisan shift from one administration to the other? That's your insightful trend? No %$#%, Sherlock. How does that relate to Sessions enforcing federal law? Less regulation? Have you changed your mind about net neutrality, then?
  18. Yeah, we'll be so pissed that we'll all turn into socialists! That'll really show them, boy howdy!
  19. That's not what I asked. Tolerate and like are two completely different things.
  20. Ah, a trick question! Don't you think I know that they're the banking system's version of the army, navy, and air force reserves?
  21. Is your implication that there are people who like pollution?
  22. And how do you know it's not, hmmmmm?
  23. I really wish science wasn't so politicized in America.
  24. The funny thing to me is that (and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) nearly everyone you're arguing with actually supports decriminalization, if not outright legalization of marijuana. Also, the stance that Sessions is taking on the issue is very likely to help create the groundswell of popular support that congress will require before they act on addressing the legislation once and for all. The fact is that at this particular point in time, any states that have enacted policy that permits growing, selling, or smoking marijuana have done so in defiance of federal law. Just because we may disagree with the law, does not make us immune to the ramifications if we're caught in violation of that law.
  25. It's frightening that you can explain that as eloquently as you do, tongue in cheek or no.
