The Mizzou/Yale/PC/Free Speech Topic

Because living the way you choose to live regardless of what others may think isn't enough to make you noticeably different to people who only recognize superficial differences such as gender or ethnicity. Purple hair on the other hand marks you as bold individual to any idiot within fifty yards. -
Liberals stick to principles, BLAST Weinstein

Yep, it's just now being reported on television. -
You know a great deal more than I do with regard to economics, so I'm not inclined to argue with you. That said, do you not find it inexcusable that our national debt has reached the level it has? At what point do we stop looking at our debt as a ratio to GDP and start looking at it as actual debt that needs to be repaid (or at least avoided), and agreeing across partisan lines that congress ought to act more responsibly with the national purse strings? If congress can't reduce the deficit annually regardless of unemployment, then something is very wrong. You're right - Republicans are in control, and they continue to prove that they only preach fiscal restraint when they're in the minority. When they have the majority, they have a habit of leaving their testicles back in their home districts.* Something I've always wanted to ask you: if you don't like Rs or Ds, then why on earth do you support bipartisan legislation? By definition, "bipartisan" means that both parties are involved - there's nothing "independent" about it, and is nearly always some ineffective, middle of the road "compromise" designed to do little more than make everyone feel good. * see above.

Don't you think that congress should exercise a little restraint in their expenditures when their receipts are less? That they should balance their budget so that they don't overspend?

How does unemployment relate to the fed's ability to balance the budget?

He should give her instructions on how to read both traditional clocks and Roman numerals, written in cursive. -
I believe you of all people would appreciate this (NSFW):

What amuses me in all this is the fact that "taco" is as generic a term as is "sandwich". People are way, way too sensitive over this kind of thing. -
Indeed, he is a master of many tongues.

I wish these threads would just be closed instead of moved to PPP. They were moved because people engaged in the "conversation" couldn't handle the topic. Moving the thread here only encourages these boobs to follow, bringing their nonsense and name-calling here. You folks from TSW are more than welcome here, but we already have Gatormans, Buseys, Bugs, and other assorted trolls mucking up the conversations at every turn. Please drop the sanctimony, use your heads, and try to have an honest discussion with people without crying "racist" every time someone says something you don't agree with.

If we were to silence those whose speech we perceive to be hateful, spiteful, repugnant, or obscene, then we would be no better than those who believe as that professor does. She should be free to voice her opinion, however offensive it may seem. The rest of us are able to rise above such pettiness if we choose, and that makes us better for it.

Nekkid man kills 4 at Tennessee Waffle House

I never thought I would see the words "Waffle House" and "cuisine" in the same sentence, let alone back to back like that. -

Sadly, there is a lot of that kind of thinking nowadays. I mean, who needs specific knowledge when one can simply assign right & wrong based on an amalgam of ignorance and their own warped moral code? -
It sounds to me like they're just trying to keep the Russian collusion theme going in the face of what appears more and more to be a likely dismissal by Mueller.

At one point during his lecture, a protester yelled, "F*** the law!" Blackman responded that it was a "bizarre" thing for a law student to say. http://insider.foxnews.com/2018/04/19/cuny-law-school-students-protest-professor-josh-blackmans-lecture-free-speech
