  1. Aw, come on - that's the best you've got? You could have at least called me a 'slim' again.
  2. I'm not trying to make a point - I'm just laughing at you.
  3. This isn't a thread about who's better than who. It's just intended to be a place to post footage of a live performance that captures the artist at their best. It can be anything, any genre, as long as it's a live performance. Though I've played & written music most of my life, there's not a whole lot out there in terms of genre that I care for. I've always been drawn to those particular artists that stand above the rest - people like Al Hirt, Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Buddy Rich, Aretha Franklin, Jimi Hendrix - across the spectrum to people like Placido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, and Sarah Chang. I'm picking this one to start for two reasons. First, the playing is beyond sick. Second, the accompanying bass is incredible, and is performed by Buffalo's own Billy Sheehan. http://youtu.be/5PIi7ujSsuM
  4. I heard murmurs about this a couple of months ago, but never thought it would actually come to pass. I'm definitely looking forward to this.
  5. I imagine that Cruz and his wife have more than enough money between them to cover all their costs out of pocket, so my guess is that he's planning on using his family's 'membership' as a source for 'first-hand horror stories' in his run to repeal it. But you're right, it is kind of funny.
  6. For what it's worth, Billy Sheehan played bass on that album. I got to see them tour that album when I lived in North Carolina, and watching Vai and Sheehan together was a thing of beauty. I don't know if people from WNY realize how world-renowned Sheehan is.
  7. I'm not so sure about that. She's not very strong at debating, and despite that they're all going to be fellow democrats, her opponents will undoubtedly bring up Benghazi & the State Dept emails in order to undermine her credibility.
  8. 'Nonetheless, one of two things is true: 1) the U.S. actually threatened Germany that it would refrain from notifying them of terrorist plots against German citizens and thus deliberately leave them vulnerable to violent attacks, or 2) some combination of high officials from the U.S. and/or German governments are invoking such fictitious threats in order to manipulate and scare the German public into believing that asylum for Snowden will endanger their lives. Both are obviously noteworthy, though it’s hard to say which is worse.' Is it just me, or does it seem lately that we play hardball with our allies, and softball with our enemies?
  9. Haven't you told him that those minty cakes aren't for eating?
  10. Here's one definitely worth a mention, at least - Spike Jones
  11. After trying several different devices, I settled on the Eleaf iStick, with an Aspire mini Nautilus tank for the fluid. http://www.eleafworld.com/product/detail.php/eleaf-istick.html http://www.aspirecig.com/products/tank-series/tank156.html As far as fluids are concerned, there are flavors that will approximate the taste of a cigarette, but it still takes a bit of getting used to. The place I get mine here in Texas is called Create-a-Cig. They sell pre-mixed flavors, but they also mix their own. I smoked menthol cigarettes, so I have them mix me up a batch of standard cigarette tobacco flavor and then have them add some menthol to it. It's a good idea to go to a local retailer and talk with them about the differences between devices that use wicks vs cartomizers, battery types, etc
  12. Overshadowing all the above was the A-24 Banshee. Not because of any particular role or capability it had, but because it was also called the SBD.
  13. Please don't let anyone talk you into giving them money to make crackers out of insects.
  14. It sounds like someone is playing a joke on you (or maybe I'm falling for one myself). I would think that a document of this importance from the FBI would be hand-signed and delivered by mail, if not by other means than just an email. Besides, it's not charging you with any wrongdoing, only threatening you if you don't help them bust up a Nigerian Prince scam. If you think it's legitimate, why not just reply to the email with a question regarding clarification of their request and see what you receive?
  15. I've been in and out of playing most of my life. I'm in a band now, one I consider to be 'hard rock' but we usually get classified as 'metal'. The only covers we ever play are Sign Of The Wolf by Pentagram and Rock Bottom by UFO. If you're ever in Austin and you feel like letting loose, just let me know.
  16. When I started listening to Kiss, their newest album was 'Hotter Than Hell' and I was a senior in high school. I thought they were great - fire, smoke, blood, and hard rock & roll (although I had a bit of a hard time with Peter Criss's cat makeup). I don't begrudge a recording artist their desire for success and popularity, but they just took it in a direction where I didn't want to follow anymore. As an adult I've played in front of some moderately large crowds, but as a first-grader I never would have been able to do what you did. Back then I couldn't even read my homework in front of the class without freezing. I was there as well. Brownsville Station - The Martian Boogie!
  17. No, because the band actually plays 'Thank You'. I don't believe anyone from Kiss is actually playing anything in 'Beth' - as I remember it was pretty much just a piano and a small orchestral ensemble, which reminded me too much of the stuff The Monkees did when I was younger. It was way too much of a commercial turn for me to stick with them, no offense to anyone who likes them.
  18. Pretty much the same here. I saw them twice, way back before Destroyer ever came out. Once I heard the song 'Beth', I washed my hands of them and never went back.
  19. I did serious damage to myself over the years smoking cigarettes (at slightly less than a pack a day), and none of it was apparent until the last couple of years that I smoked. I wound up with 99% blockage in my left anterior descending coronary artery (even though I have great cholesterol levels), and had to have a stent placed to open it up. I was wide awake when they did it. I struggled to quit for a couple of years after that - I wanted to, but I couldn't stick with it. Then people started showing up with these vaporizers, and I gave one a try. It will be two years in July that I quit. I learned around a year ago that all the years of cigarettes (39 years) had now given me early-onset COPD, with is treatable, but not curable. Both my cardiologist and my pulmonary specialist are fine with my vaping. The only ill effect from nicotine, according to the cardiologist, is a temporary (approximately 20 minutes) slight increase in blood pressure, but he said I needn't worry since my blood pressure is pretty good even without the medication he has me taking. If I was to offer any advise, it would be to just not get involved with smoking or vaping at all, but if you were to choose one, then vaping is definitely the way to go. And if Chef Jim thinks people don't look cool with a vaporizer, then all I have to say to that is that he hasn't seen me.
