  1. This is one of those topics that I avoid getting to deeply immersed in, but enjoy reading the back & forth. Although I'm very interested in history, it's not my forte. I know a little about a little, and that's pretty much it. As far as the civil war is concerned, I understand the basics, but detailed discussion is something I leave to others. That link I posted will give you a good primer on what most people around here have to say on the topic, and will prevent others from having to repeat themselves in a second thread on the subject.
  2. Wrong, but don't take it from me. Ms McElhinney states it perfectly:
  3. Q3 to Boyst. I'm hoping FC can take him out though, because if I manage to stay in for a few rounds, I'm really hoping to avoid the Boystian onslaught.
  4. Here - all you have to do to catch up is do a little digging. Like has already been said, this topic has been pretty thoroughly covered already. I took the liberty of using the search function to provide you this link: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/183809-new-orleans-to-remove-excremental-rebel-monuments/?hl=confederate
  5. Crap - I was going to guess "Hitler".
  6. Of all his songs, this was my favorite. I also like that since this is from the last segment of a television special about him, it ends with Chuck playing blues on a pedal steel while the end credits roll. RIP - his legacy is still being handed down among generations of guitarists, and will be for many years to come.
  7. Warranty? I'm not even sure it will last as long as the rest of me does....
  8. I think it's safe to say that no twenty years-olds will be asking for my liver when I'm seventy.
  9. Nothing ruins a joke like having to explain it.
  10. I despite hip hop beyond description, and I still think that's pretty badass.
  11. This is a bull$%#@ argument right from the start. Go ahead and google "Christian Bakery" and tell me how many pages you have to sort through before you find a website for a Christian Bakery. Go ahead and look through the yellow pages - I don't care what city you search - and provide me a listing for a "Christian Bakery". I'll wait. This entire issue is ginned up by people who are searching for family owned, mom & pop bakeries who are unused to and uncomfortable with the idea of involving themselves in gay weddings and the lifestyle in general, and once they find one they run to the press, screaming "bigotry and oppression" all the way. Everybody knows this, but people who argue your point of view pretend not to. You may not have a problem with gay weddings, I don't have a problem with them, but some people DO NOT WISH TO BE INVOLVED, and should not be coerced into it. Period. People who take your position are either being duped or are willing participants in deception.
  12. Wouldn't all this fall under the auspices of OSHA? Do we really need a sub-level just for the chemical industry? Why not fold one into the other and at least streamline the regulatory agency?
  13. I liked this from his linked article: "What’s clear is that the people buying from you and working for you want to know if you’re on their side. Or not. They want to know if you’re doing something to make the world better. Or not. And they will reward — or ignore or perhaps even boycott — you accordingly." No, only people who are obsessed with SJW issues or are rabid anti-Trumpers want that. Everyone else - the majority of Americans - still want a quality product at a competitive price, and do not want to be preached to by manufacturers or retailers.
  14. I'm an independent so I don't know - which ones in the picture are Republicans?
  15. If you admit that the results of the experiment are surprising, then we're in agreement. I'm not saying anything other than that.
  16. I've been reading about this too, but there's very little detail other than he's working in association with Ben Stiller and a few others, that they set up a Go Fund Me page, and that they've talked Turkish Airlines into making the delivery. It's great that they want to help, but the first thing that came to mind was won't the warlords just take everything once it's been delivered? Again, I don't want to rip on anyone who tries to help the needy, but on the surface this looks like it will accomplish a lot more in repairing a reputation than it will in providing substantive help for Somalis.
  17. The point I took was that just because it's fast food, doesn't mean that it's necessarily bad for you. It also defies the modern notion that in order to maintain a healthy diet and/or lose weight, you need to eat bark and twigs. Entire industries are built on health and healthy eating, while McDonald's is most often held out as the textbook example of all that's bad for America's health. I would think that the cynic would find it interesting that so much of what we're sold with regard to healthy living and eating is so soundly contradicted by that teacher's experiment.
  18. Not much to be skeptical about, since that's pretty much exactly the point of the piece.
  19. That is amazing. I would have been one of the ones claiming that was impossible, but the numbers look sound and it makes sense when you think about it. I cook a lot of my own meals, and I pay attention to what ingredients I use, but I have no idea what the nutritional value of the food actually is. And the numbers he attained are stunning: Cholesterol: from 249 to 170 / Triglycerides: from 156 to 80 / LDL: from 170 to 113. To be honest, it seems like the real lesson is that it's easier to eat better if you have the nutritional values readily available, not so much that McDonald's is good for you, but I'm still pretty impressed. Thanks for posting that!
  20. Boyst brings an extremely respectable level of ridiculous to the round. I have to give it to him. Besides, it's obvious the little feller never wins anything much anyway.
  21. My god, there's going to be some truly ridiculous posts before this is all over.
