  1. You need to watch more football then if you've never seen the ground cause an incomplete pass in the last 6+ years.
  2. Sorry, that rule is enforced ALL the time. That's how I knew about it. You see a guy catch the ball, get tackled to the ground, and it pops out -- incomplete. This one is slightly different because he hit the ground and rolled, which doesn't happen often in the NFL, but the "ground causing an incompletion" gets called a lot.
  3. They changed the rule from "possession and a football move" to "possession of the ball, all the way through hitting the ground." Johnson didn't hold the ball after hitting the ground. Therefore, incomplete. Look, here's a reference to the rule from back in 2004: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/cs-041231jerrymarkbreitsanswers,0,5802190.story
  4. It's not a reception as soon as you have control and hit the ground. You need to end the play with the ball. If it pops out, it's incomplete. Something similar happened in the Bills game yesterday, but nobody talked about it because it didn't have an impact on the game.
  5. If the player taps his toes on the sideline, then falls out of bounds and the ball pops out - it will be ruled incomplete. A player with possession crossing the goalline is a completely different situation - he already has possession. You mean the coin toss where Bettis called heads, then changed his mind to tails and the ref (correctly) took the first thing Bettis called as the actual call? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Luckett The refs ALWAYS call it incomplete nowadays if the ball pops out when the receiver hits the ground. The refs make bad calls - but the coin toss and the incomplete pass yesterday were both spot-on according to the rule book. The ground didn't cause a fumble -- the ground caused an incomplete pass. Which it can, if the player falls down and doesn't hold on to the ball. It happens all the time.
  6. I don't know about that. His first two carries could have been HUGE -- both times he was tackled by the shoe. After awhile, the Dolphins just realized they could put 9 in the box and stop the running game. The only drive that went well was when the Dolphins weren't stacking the line and rushing a bunch. But they quickly learned to change that... It's the same problem we've had all decade -- teams rush 8 to stop the run and pressure the QB, and since we can't block, we lose.
  7. I was going to post that too. It's been around since at least CS4. If you're a student or teacher, you can get CS5 for less than $200 as well.
  8. I disagree - in the first quarter, Spiller almost had two HUGE runs -- but was tackled by the shoe both times. If he didn't tie his shoes tightly, they would've ripped it off and he'd be off to the races.
  9. You should go eat at Kroll's. They have great butter burgers, and are right across from the stadium. Don't go on game day - it's always packed. (no pun intended) http://www.krollswest.com/
  10. The rules say that was an incomplete pass. There's nothing iffy about it. The rule states that you have to have control of the ball all the way through -- even after you hit the ground. They put that in to make it easier to officiate - no "did he have control before hitting the ground?" questions anymore. And even the Lions coach agreed with the call: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=300912003
  11. We made a joke in the chat room that we needed to make a macro of "Bell got beat bad." He was terrible.
  12. You would've rather taken the sack....?
  13. Don't even need to anymore - they have a web front end!
  14. Just a reminder on where the old timers are
  15. All -- The chat room link at the top of the forum apparently is not using IRC anymore. But IRC gives us admin controls to stop harassment, so we're still going to use it. The easiest way is to go to this site: http://irc.webmaster.com/ Type in your name, and use the room: #gobuffalo You can leave the password blank unless you have a registered name on that site. If you want to use an IRC client, follow the below steps: In order to join us, download an IRC client (I recommend mIRC -- http://www.mirc.com ). When configuring mIRC, use "irc.webmaster.com" as the servername and 6667 as the port. Then when you login, type: /join #gobuffalo To select your own name, type: /nick MyNameIsBob (or whatever your name is ). Hope to see you all there!
  16. Keep in mind that if you have DirecTV -- you can get Sunday Ticket for free today! So even if you don't want to fork over the cash for the TIcket, you can at least watch us SQUISH THE FISH!!!!
  17. No kidding! But we bring it upon ourselves by being lazy. Did you know that 40% of sick days are taken on Monday or Friday, giving them a 3-day weekend? Ridiculous.
  18. Only one way to find out... We're going to have to kill you. I have this game on DVD and I still dust it off every now and then. Even when we made mistakes (Kelly fumble), we still turned it into something awesome... I want those days again.
  19. Of Firefly fame. Mal: Whoa, hey. Flesh. Um... Saffron... i-it-it ain't a question of pleasing me. It's more a question of what's... um... of what's morally right. Saffron: I do know my Bible sir. "On the night of their betrothal, the wife shall open to the man as the furrow to the plow and he shall work in her, in and again, 'til she bring him to his fall and rest him then upon the sweat of her breast." Mal: Whoa, good Bible.
  20. The team's not much different than last season, and we still won 6 games. We have 20 less people on IR right now, so that has to count for something. We're hardly the worst in the league, let alone the worst ever.
  21. Crated by Tim Minear, famous for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, Wonderfalls, Drive, and Dollhouse. I have no idea what it's about, but I might have to check it out.
  22. That was a terrible rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
  23. Agreed. It's frustrating, especially since it's 2010 and portable HD cameras aren't that expensive anymore...
  24. The previews are still in SD, so probably not. Lame....
  25. DirecTV has some bundle with Qwest- but I don't know the details, and it's only good if you're in an area serviced by Qwest (obviously ). That said, if you're happy with DirecTV, why change? I know people who have Dish and like them a lot. They have less HD channels than DirecTV, but have different channels in their "base" package (for example, Dish has the Science channel, but you have to pay a couple of bucks more to get the tier with that channel on DirecTV). One thing to note is that if you're paying $10/month for HD channels with DirecTV right now, call them up and ask to have that removed for the next 24 months -- Dish is giving away free HD, so DirecTV has been doing the same. You have to enroll in auto billpay, but it's an easy $10/month to save. They probably won't give that deal to you -- it seems to be a small percentage of people who are getting that offer. And I agree - it's an awesome one.
