  1. My company released a (now defunct) product a few years ago and the acronym was "FFS." I got a chuckle out of that, although most people didn't know what that was short for.
  2. I can't figure out why this is news... Companies do that all the time; for example, Google owns "googlesucks.com." I know my company alone has roughly 2000-3000 URLs, and half of them are the same sort of thing. This is such a non-story but I've seen it posted all over the place..
  3. It's kinda funny that certain people still single me out because I said (and maintain) that illegally downloading a song is not theft, it's copyright infringement... That leads to "you don't respect people's property!" Yet I'm the one legally buying stuff.... Go figure.

  5. I second the Newseum -- it was the best museum we went to on our trip last year. They have part of the Berlin wall, a communication antenna from the World Trade Center, tons of interesting newspapers, news clips, etc. It's really good! You say that you want to see the Smithsonian. Keep in mind that it isn't a single museum but rather a collection of many different museums and you won't come close to seeing them all in that short amount of time. Great views from the top of the Washington Monument - but you have to get there early to get tickets so I don't know if you'll be able to make it. We stayed at the Quincy ( http://www.thequincy.com/ ) in the business area and it was wonderful -- we had to take the metro to the Mall, but it was a breeze. Public transportation is very good there. If you want to see an entertaining show, check out the Capitol Steps - http://www.capsteps.com/live/ A lot of people recommend the Holocaust museum, but it sounds really depressing. At the start they give you a card with information on someone who was in a concentration camp and by the end you find out if they lived or died. No thanks... You'll love DC - but you'll have to plan a longer trip in the future.
  6. I think you'd be able to do this -- you don't have to eat 25 wings at a time. If you're just trying to get a taste of the wings, you could do it with only 2-3 and I think you'd be fine from a health perspective.
  7. Proof of what....? Yes, I have proof that I pay the airline for a ticket to get from point A to point B, the airline employee takes my bag and makes sure it gets to my destination. Whatever happens after the fact doesn't matter to me as a customer, because I have already entrusted the airline with my bag. As I said, "in essence, they subcontract." Legally binding? Who knows until you take 'em to court. But that's how it is from a logical perspective.
  8. It's the airline's fault because they're the company you deal with and in essence it was their subcontractors who were the ones who stole from the luggage.
  9. If you have a Best Buy Rewards Zone account (free), it looks like they've given you a free $10 or $20 certificate if you login to your account. http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?sduid=0&t=2488270 I logged in today and sure enough -- $10 worth of free money.
  10. When are you giving up on the internet for a year? Good luck, but like others say - a few days and you'll be done.
  11. Put me down in the "season will be canceled" camp -- but I hope I'm wrong.
  12. Because the close losses were things like dropped touchdowns in the endzone... Not longshot fieldgoals with low percentage chances of success.
  13. In some cases, you may be right. But the four attempts were LONG ones -- 61, 53, 48, 48. At least one of those 48 yard kicks was into the wind as well - can't remember about the second one. Those are very difficult kicks to make. If they missed a few 30-40 yarders, you might have a point.
  14. Not sure what Bills Daily is... So no idea.
  15. Just a reminder about the TSW Cookbook. Still need to put more recipes there (including migrating more from the old cookbook). With the holidays here, it's a good time to try out new recipes and post your own!
  16. Isn't it pretty expensive though?
  17. There's a link from the main TSW page, so it's not really 100% unofficial. And besides, who cares if a group of people like to get together on IRC during the game and post about it here? We currently have 19 people participating. Why can't we change the "chat" link at the top of the page to the link from the main page of TSW? Nobody uses the chat room at the top -- they use Shoutbox or they use the IRC link... Literally 0 people in the chat room on the top of the forum.
  18. That's fine. Lots of people like the official chat room better. Personal choice.
  19. Play by play and game discussions. See ya there! http://www.twobillsdrive.com/fan_zone/chat/
  20. Hope this makes you feel safer Steve! http://www.techdirt....e-airport.shtml "But even more scary than that is the article notes that the TSA admits that it's really bad at finding weapons, saying that the "failure rate" of tests is reaching 70% at some major airports and at some airports "every test gun, bomb part or knife got past screeners." So, while scanners are looking at or touching your crotch, they're apparently not bothering to look for guns. Comforting." Security theater at its finest! Can we funnel half the money we give to TSA into something worthwhile? How about giving it to the airlines so that they stop charging for checked luggage that employees loot anyway?
  21. That sucks. That's why I never put anything but clothes in my suitcase -- can't trust anyone.
  22. Local radio station has a promotion called "Toys for Ta-tas." Bring a new, unwrapped toy to the local strip club and get free admission and lunch.
  23. A good review of Kindle 3: http://www.neowin.ne...eview-kindle-3/
  24. Agree 100% on the maps comment. We bought a book on Barcelona, and couldn't use the maps at all. That said, I've heard it works well if you install the Kindle app on your PC (which can also access all of your books). You lose the portability, but might be nice for seeing maps and such. As for book costs -- $10 is roughly in line with what a new book costs, and is much cheaper than a hardcover. It's not fair to compare it to a used book price, IMHO. From what I've read, publishers are afraid of digital distribution, so that's why they don't want to reduce the price and is also why not all books are available. In addition to getting the classics for free/cheap, Amazon frequently gives away the first book in a series for free as well in order to hook you into buying the rest of the books in the series. Good idea, no?
