  1. What scores are you getting? I usually get 400-600k when I play, but it's tough to get more than that (for me).
  2. I played this during some downtime on the cruise -- it was pretty fun, but got a bit repetitive after awhile. Definitely worth $3 though.
  3. I wouldn't consider the Nook color for one reason -- you're reading off of a computer screen. The Kindle uses E-Ink technology, so the display looks similar to paper, making it easier to read for long periods of time. In addition, the E-Ink technology uses very little power, meaning you can go weeks without having to charge the Kindle. My wife has one and brought it on our recent 2.5 week vacation - didn't have to charge it a single time and she read almost every night. In my mind, it's a no brainer. Keep in mind that there are other e-ink readres out there (original Nook, and the Sony E-Reader), but the Kindle is the king right now. Like Gringo said - the Kindle is very convenient. My wife keeps hers with her all the time. Here's a thread on the topic: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/110203-e-reader/page__p__1795475__hl__kindle__fromsearch__1#entry1795475
  4. Should be interesting - the Monday night Vikes game will be played at TCF Stadium, home of the Gophers.... Not sure how they'll handle tickets, since The Bank only seats 50k, and the Dome seats 65k.... http://www.startribune.com/local/111867304.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aU1yDEmP:QMDCinchO7DU
  5. Really? I just assumed the commercial for next season was showing teams that were actually going to PLAY next season.
  6. It's all about numbers -- the more subscribers, the better your company looks to investors, the more money you get. I have Comcast for my broadband. They then told me that if I get "lifeline cable" (basically the locals and public access channels) for $8/month, they could knock $15/month off of my broadband bill. So I have cable TV through Comcast, I just never actually use it, just to save my company $7/month (I expense my broadband due to my job), and Comcast gets to claim me as a cable TV subscriber.

  8. Two of the people we were seated with at dinner were from Rochester, NY. He works for the University of Rochester and is also a fire investigator and his wife works for B&L. It was cool to talk with people from "home.." I met lots of other Bills fans on the ship too. One guy from Toronto (who became a fan when the Bills started playing games up there - so I guess Ralph knows what he's doing?). Another guy from Australia (who now lives in China) who started watching the Bills during the glory years. And a few others I'm just not remembering right now. It was pretty cool. Met another Bills fan in the Atlanta airport on the way home as well. We're everywhere! I still don't see how that works... I realize the staff is doing most of the work, but I still don't see how he isn't tipping over. It's not like the staff was impaled in the ground or anything....
  9. IMHO, the attendance had nothing to do with the cold and everything to do with the fact that we had just lost to the Oilers the week before, Thurman and Kelly were both injured, and it looked like our team was fading fast.
  10. Yup, Brilliance is a Radiance class. We actually took the Radiance of the Seas from San Diego to Hawaii and back again a few years ago. It was weird being on a different ship this time, but knowing exactly where everything was located.
  11. Some that I remember: Brooke and Clair (the TV salespeople from this year) The asian guy and his dad (from this year) The Globe Trotters The singing guys That's all I can remember offhand...
  12. I think the float roadblock was meant to stymie people more than it did. It sounded like it was going to be complex, but ended up not being that big a deal. I was disappointed that next season was going to be an "all stars" type show -- especially since it looks like at least two teams from this season will be on it. But can't wait for HD.
  13. There's a reason DirecTV (and Dish) customer service is constantly rated higher than cable (and why cable is always very low) -- and this example proves it out.
  14. I didn't want to post this until I had some pictures to share -- but here they are. http://www.flickr.com/photos/43777639@N06/sets/72157625584226062/ (can't seem to link it without it wanting to be a media link... So here's the direct link) www.flickr.com/photos/43777639@N06/sets/72157625584226062 The trip was AMAZING. We started in Barcelona for five days, then went on a 12 day cruise to Italy, Greece, Egypt, and Malta. The photos are all unedited at this point, but are a good sample representation. The pictures that look like statues (the silver guy and the bronze guy) are actually people who dress up on La Rambla in Barcelona and start moving when you give them money. No idea how the bronze guy was floating like that though -- very weird, and he drew a big crowd. The pyramids were AWESOME. The only downside is that there are pushy street vendors EVERYWHERE, getting in your face trying to sell your crap. They jump in front of your camera too, then say, "You took my picture, $1." It's totally ridiculous. Then again, the average salary for someone over there is roughly $200 American, so I can see why they're trying to get money from the tourists... It looks like we got back at the right time too -- if we would've taken the next cruise out, we would've dealt with this! http://www.huffingto...o_n_795743.html http://cruisingnut.b...brilliance.html It's good to be back though!
  15. Or WAS it empty....? http://blogs.citypages.com/blotter/2010/12/metrodome_colla_2.php
  16. I'm moving to Alaska!
  17. Actually, it's not an exaggeration... The temperature doesn't get that cold -- usually bottoms out around -10, -15. But the windchills are frequently in the -30 to -50 range. It was 0F with -30F windchills at around 10am this morning. GB is usually a bit warmer, probably because they're on a big body of water. It's still cold there too though.
  18. There is talk of playing the game at TCF Bank Stadium, the Minnesota Gophers' stadium. It's outdoors on campus. The downside is that it only seats ~50,000 (instead of 60k at the Dome).
  19. Both teams are NFC, so it's FOX.
  20. It actually doesn't snow like this very often. I've lived here since '94, and this is by far the most snow we've had in a single storm. Apparently there was a similar storm in '91 that occurred on Halloween -- but since it wasn't that cold out, everything melted a day or two later. It's freezing here now (0F, windchills of -30F), so this snow isn't going anywhere for awhile.
  21. With picture: http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=892684
  22. Thanks! The trip was AMAZING! I'll be posting some pictures soon. I've lived in Uptown and Cottage Grove. Now I'm across the border in Hudson. (originally from NF, NY). This was a storm that WNY would've been proud of -- with the blowing snow, you couldn't see more than a block much of yesterday. It is -- the snow was very light and fluffy, not wet like WNY snow. But the perfect conditions hit to nail us with a blizzard, and now the temps are in single digits with -30F windchill. Yay. http://www.accuweath...astfox&metric=0 I live in a townhome, so I pay someone else to do that.
  23. Yeah, we've been getting nailed with snow the last 24 hours... Roughly 20" where I live. That's practically unheard of around here. http://www.startribu...mP:QMDCinchO7DU "By Saturday evening, nearly 17 inches had been dumped on Minneapolis, with snow still falling. Nearly 22 inches fell in Shakopee. Although that accumulation was short of the 28.4 inches of snow recorded in the storied Halloween blizzard of 1991, it was by far the deepest since then." http://www.startribu...mP:QMDCinchO7DU
  24. Apple better watch out - this phone is 100 times better than the iPhone, Blackberry, or any of the Android offerings. http://pomegranatephone.com/
  25. Hmmm, that's me.... But I have an attached garage and when I get to work, I walk about 30 feet from my car to the front door... So it's not that big a deal.
