  1. I know that's what you're saying -- but what I meant was that arrogance/blame/ego don't really show up in preseason. Did Kelly blast Ballard for not blocking during preseason? No, he did it during the regular season (after an injury). True colors don't come out until things are live. His reputation out of school was of being arrogant. You won't be able to find out if it's true or not until the regular season (or maybe even next season). Personally, I don't think it'll be a problem. But Dr. Z is hardly being lazy in writing what he did. CW
  2. Check him now? He hasn't done anything yet. Remember, preseason doesn't count. Or do the positives count but we should all ignore the negatives...? CW
  3. bumping for those who missed it
  4. It seems that everyone is missing the point, so I'll say it again -- the same people who say, "We don't care about Bledsoe, he's not on the Bills anymore!" are the same ones jumping for joy when he has a bad play in Dallas or says something "controversial." I'll stop posting about him if others do the same. CW
  5. Favre and Young were never traded after being starters. It's a bit different to trade a 2nd or 3rd string QB. CW
  6. How is any of this different than what we saw last year? Funny, when I said the same things last year (like, "Moulds should've caught that," or, "Our OL can't block," it's all pinned on the QB. This year, we hear, "JPL would've been great if everyone else had played well." Let me be first to say what others said about DB (with sarcasm button definately on): Yeah, Losman will be great if we give him 5 probowl OL, a probowl RB, a probowl TE, and two probowl WRs!</sarcasm> Same OL, different QB (again), same results. CW
  7. Maybe it's because the "anybody but Bledsoe" crowd kept saying, "But he's NOT a rookie idiot, he's a SECOND year player!" like that key peice of information guaranteed a great season. We heard how Stojan's grandmother could lead us to the playoffs this year, over and over, and over again. We've been told that JPL will be great this year, "because he really wants to succeed! He says he won't accept failure this year!" Apparantly all of the other NFL players come to camp and say, "Well, it'd be NICE to win, but I really don't think I can help the team do that..." Nobody told them that telling the press "I want to win NOW" is all that's necessary at the NFL level, as long as you have some talent. I think a lot of people believed all of this stuff. What have we seen differently in preseason this year compared to what we saw in the regular season last year? INTs returned for TDs? Sacks and fumbles? Lots of sacks? Personally, I'll be shocked if we make the playoffs, unless the D and ST carry the team again. When will we wake up and realize our blocking up front is atrocious? CW
  8. NFL Network is showing bits and peices (ch 212 on DirecTV, not sure about cable). The game's blacked out because it's not a sellout. CW
  9. Someone pointed out this DVD a month or so ago: http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=APX027303 I just received it today. For $6, I think it's worth it. Lots of footage of all of our draft picks, as well as footage of Leonhard and some guy I never heard of before (both UDFAs). There's also "bonus" footage of McGahee, Jim Kelly, and Cornelious Bennett. This is all footage from their college days. Some is pretty bad, but it's cool since I hadn't seen most of it before. The voiceover work is really lame and very generic -- nothing really particular to the player, just generic rhetoric. Still, you're watching for the plays, not the commentary. After watching it, Leonhard and Parrish both appear to be great punt returners. Leonhard had a TON of interceptions and some nice pass breakups as well. Havn't watched the other draft picks yet. There's also some video/stats of the first round draft picks. The production quality is pretty low, but for $6, why not? I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to see a lot of college plays from Buffalo's draft picks (or Kelly/McGahee/Bennett). CW
  10. Gas actually went from $2.99 DOWN to $2.79 in St. Paul today... Should've filled up (I still have 3/4 tank), but I didn't notice it until I was already past and didn't feel like turning around. I won't need gas for another week or so anyway. CW
  11. If you like Buffy/Angel, you'll definately appreciate the dialog in Firefly. For those who are still on the edge about Firefly/Serenity -- Joss Whedon also did the screenplay for "Toy Story" and many episodes of Roseanne, amongst others. He also has written the screen play for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0923736/ Give the movie (and series) a shot CW
  12. You might want to tell her that, since she has a V6 engine, running the AC probably won't affect gas milage at all. I have a Camry v6 and I get the same gas milage with or without AC or heat. CW
  13. I'm going to ask my boss if I can work from home once a week - I think he'll say yes (an advantage to working in IT). My wife and I are also going to try carpooling once or twice a week. My job is right on the way to hers (I'm about 25 miles from home, she's about 33 miles from home), so it makes sense. I like working early (6am-3pm), whereas she works more 8am-5pm, but I'll make the adjustment to save some cash. CW
  14. Myself included. CW
  15. Good luck, stay safe! CW
  16. Stop, you're both right! CW
  17. Were you buying through Ticketmaster? They always rip you off.... Still, $11/ticket for those seats is really sweet. You can't even get nosebleed seats for a preseason game in Minnesota for that cheap. CW
  18. People seem to "give a chit" when he played bad his first preseason game... They were all over him. Right now, I still don't think it was the right move to cut him this year (next year, sure). I hope JPL proves me wrong though. CW
  19. Funny how I saw everyone post about how terrible DB was in his first game with the Cowboys, but not a peep from yesterday's game... (yes, I"m stirring things up, but at least it's football related ). CW
  20. I'd disagree. You can't let the world get you down. You need to go to the game to stop thinking about the terrible news, at least for a few hours. It's theraputic. Plus, you can get some hugs from the players. That has to be worth it, no? CW
  21. I read an interesting stat in TV Guide (or similar) shortly after Firefly started. They said that Firefly was the 2nd most TiVo'd series ever -- something like 1 million people recorded it (only CSI was higher, if I remember correctly). Fox cancelled it because they were only getting roughly 3 million viewers/week. What they don't seem to understand is that the REASON it wasn't higher was because they didn't market the show at all (I saw one commercial, and it was VERY lame), they aired the series out of order (the pilot was aired last...), they pre-empted it for baseball several times, and they changed the start time once or twice. Oh, and it was on Friday night Sounds to me like the TiVo people were the only ones able to watch it because of the crappy scheduling! CW
  22. I've been saying it since the show was on TV, but Firefly ROCKS. The movie is also going to ROCK! (Fox SUCKS for cancelling it, but I won't go into details on that). If you like good story-telling (don't think of it as sci-fi, because that's WAY too general), great dialog, and wonderful character development, you owe it to yourself to watch Firefly: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...&s=dvd&n=507846 The DVD has been out for years and is STILL in the top 25 of ALL DVDs sold by Amazon! It frequently shoots up to #1 as well (and Amazon sold out of its entire stock of Firefly during PREORDERS!). After watching the series (it's only 14 episodes, unfortunately...), you then get to watch the movie. It's already been screened around 66 times in the country and is getting rave reviews from everyone. I"ve seen the trailer, and it looks great. Universal has already said that they'll be making a trilogy, as long as it does well at the theater. So far, I havn't heard anyone say, "I'm sorry I wasted my time watching Firefly," and I've recommended it to a lot of people. Watch Firefly, watch Serenity, and be amazed that excellent quality writing gets cancelled. CW
  23. 1) Homeless shelters do that all the time. *I* don't know how it's done, but others who have experience do. 2) People aren't prisoners in the dome (I don't think...) They can go out and about during the day to prevent going stir crazy. According to some here, movie theaters and such should be giving them free tickets because it's the right thing to do 3) The Astrodome has showers... I'm guessing they'll let people shower in the locker rooms. I'm guessing that there will be some sort of system for getting people through, but I don't know what it is. Again, the people doing it have experience with this sort of thing I think. CW
  24. Ahhh, ok I misunderstood. That said, I still don't think it needs a separate forum; it's only one thread every few days at most. We don't need to encourage everyone to post more CW
  25. I'm not sure that it's necessary or wanted. There are tons of other places on the net to see/discuss that sort of thing. Besides, do you want to model yourself after a Dolphins board?! (where's the puke icon...?) I'd vote no. CW
