  1. That's why FISA was established in the mid-70s though. CW
  2. Yes, it's prudent -- but the government NEEDS TO GET A WARRANT FIRST! It all goes back to checks and balances; I don't want one person to be able to do whatever the hell they want without having to be accountable to someone else. Why do you think our forefathers made three separate branches of the government? It's the violation of the checks and balances that I'm opposed to. CW
  3. Watch the show, Commander in Chief, it'll answer your question. CW
  4. Oh, yeah, I'm sure some lawyers are going to start a class-action suit, but it won't be the EFF. Class action suits are a complete joke -- I worked for the claim company that did the Denny's discrimination suit (remember when there were a ton of reports that Denny's treated blacks unfairly, denying service, in the late 80s/early 90s?). The lawyers got millions, the claiments got around $50 if I recall. Yay. Of course they should've gotten more, but people who were not really part of the class were making crap up. You could tell because you'd read the claims and they'd be word for word what the last 10 said. We did some research and found out that someone was selling the story to people. "Pay me $20, and I'll tell you how to get in on the suit!" Sickening... CW
  5. Yeah, except it's NOT just Arab immigrents. Ben Franklin would just love you guys. CW
  6. So because nobody (ie: you) is directly "suffering," it's ok to break the law...? It's ok to give one person complete control over the entire country? Dude, the problem is that we have these checks and balances in place for a reason. To blindly ignore them goes against the very fabric of the country. Did you know that if you went to Vegas a couple of years ago that the government now has a file on you containing when you arrived, left, what you did there, what hotel and ROOM yo ustayed in? And they have no plans of getting rid of that information ever? That doesn't scare you, just a little bit...? CW
  7. Ever hear of pro-bono? And as far as I know, I think the lawyers ARE employed by EFF. I did a quick search and found several different articles about different cases that basically said: "Attorneys from the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), representing the three news organizations, argued Apple had not used all possible means in finding out the sources for the leak and should not be allowed access to information on the servers of the Web sites." Not "attorneys working for EFF," but FROM EFF. So I'm not 100% sure, but it's a pretty good bet. CW
  8. EFF is non-profit, so they're lawyers aren't getting rich. The AT&T Lawyers are probably all on retainer, so they're already rich.
  9. After the first post, no less Here's another story about the NSA stuff. EFF is suing AT&T. http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/06/01/31/2222236.shtml CW
  10. What do any of these posts have to do with the topic I started?
  11. Let me know what you think of Ju On when you see it. It seems to either be a love-it or hate-it movie. CW
  12. Yes, it did. I don't remember where, but it was in the last year or two. The judge said something like, "I know this isn't the spirit of the law, but it's the letter so I have no choice," which is complete BS. CW
  13. Could be a jail or similar; I saw that in one of the neighborhoods I searched, and the dot appeared to be near the jail.
  14. People around here really like spoiling things, don't they? Could have at least put a spoiler warning ahead of time, or changed the color to something unreadable, or whatnot. *sigh* Glad I already saw the movie. I liked Ju-On (or the US re-make, Grudge). Not sure if it exactly fits your request, but it was definately creepy and not just a "monster in the house" type of thing. Sixth Sense is a classic. CW
  15. I agree with you - seems that no matter what restaurant you go to nowadays, there's at least two birthday songs. I roll my eyes and go on.
  16. Yes, 31-49 is a spin and if you can't realize that then you have issues. You say that the only reason most of the players were starting was because they're on a 5-11 team (and 31-49 over 5 years). You fail to recognize that they managed to win 9 games last year with the same players. That's spin. CW
  17. And a team that went 9-7 the year before. And a team that's missed the playoffs by one game in two of the last 4 seasons. I can spin too. CW
  18. She's in Oregon, not Washington state CW
  19. Exactly! I'm not saying I'd want to give up work forever, but I'd love to take a year off. And who says you can't pick up a hobby that "stimulates the gray cells?" If I had a ton of free time, I'd love to learn more about photography, photoshop, etc. But there's only so many hours in a day. However, just because he's sitting out doesn't mean that he's lazy or a "me" guy. He interviewed with Buffalo and wasn't interested in the job. Have you taken every job that was offered to you? After you interview, you may realize that you just don't want to work at that company. There's nothing wrong with that, especially if you have a nice fallback plan. CW
  20. The difference is you can't (easily) figure out who I am by what I've posted, and I'm making a conscious effort to post what I post. With the data mining of Amazon wishlists (for example), it's VERY easy to find out what I'm reading, watching, etc, and figure out where someone lives. Too much data. CW
  21. In my office, I have a Dolphins fan, a Packers fan, and several Vikings fans. None of them are mocking the Bills anymore; they all feel pity for me. That should say something about how the rest of the world feels about the Jauron hiring. There's nothing worse than being pitied by a Dolphins fan. CW
  22. I'm rooting for Seattle by 11-17 points...
  23. http://www.engadget.com/2006/01/30/with-mr...gives-you-away/
  24. If Snyder didn't want GW as head coach, why would he agree to a contract extention that gives GW a million or two if he isn't Gibbs' successor? CW
  25. So you're admitting that we should've kept Gregg, since he went on to be an assistant head coach (and will soon take over the Redskins team as soon as Gibbs leaves)? You can't have it both ways. CW
