  1. If you want most people to understand what you're talking about, you might want to provide some details..... He's a -2 on the stat sheet; I'm guessing that has something to do with your post? CW
  2. My thoughts exactly.
  3. So says the guy who hasn't figured out how to use the caps lock key.
  4. ...onto Google servers. Food for thought: http://www.eff.org/news/archives/2006_02.php#004400 This is only for the "search across computers" feature, but apparantly it's a feature that's not obvious to disable. CW
  5. Sally is the first person from Minnesota to be on Survivor. Rather surprising, considering all the camping/hiking/fishing everyone does around here. I'm rooting for her, but it wasn't good when she lost the spear... CW
  6. I wish they would've gone into three tribes instead of 2.
  7. Agreed. If the calls "evened out" a bit, I don't think anyone would've complained as much. However, it seemed that every big play was negated by the refs and that's why there's such a public outcry this time and makes people wonder about the game. But that doesn't mean they should all lose their jobs. CW
  8. Current job = 6/year, you can store a max of 12 at any one time. Not paid upon leaving. New job = 8/year, you get them all on Jan 1st. The nice thing is if you don't use them at the end of the year, they transfer the hours into a "disability account," so if you ever have to leave work for an extended period of time, you get paid for that until short/long-term disability kicks in. Kinda cool. I'm not opposed to taking "Mental Health Days." Sometimes you just get so burned out at work that you need a day or two to refocus. That's not really a vacation, so sick time is justified IMHO. Now if you're planning on going out of town for a 4 day weekend, using a couple of sick days is wrong there. But for just vegging out at home to recharge your batteries, I think that's justified. (in my wife's line of work, they pretty much require their people to do that). CW
  9. That's a bit strong, IMHO. Something doesn't have to "stink" to be able to be improved upon... CW
  10. People make mistakes, and I wouldn't expect that employee to be fired or have to cover my late fees (the bank should do that). Now if the employee did the sabatage on purpose, that's a different story completley. But an innocent mistake? Can't fire people for that. The same thing holds true for officials -- the officials are graded after every game (about EVERY play...) and their future assignments are based on that. When I officiated high school games, I worked with a division 1-a ref (who did Big-10 games). We went over tape of various games and he pointed out (for example) one instance where the ref was not in a proper position on the sideline once the catch was made. The ref made the right call, but apparantly he was demoted for awhile, simply because he was out of position. The same thing happens in the NFL, it's just not made public. Again, all of this does not apply if the refs screwed the calls up on purpose. CW
  11. You do know that scare tactics like that don't produce the best employees, right...?
  12. You wouldn't recognize one of Buffalo's backup QBs from the past? I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.
  13. Old data. My neighborhood isn't listed at all (the first house was built in '02).
  14. Are you being serious or sarcastic? I can't tell... People make mistakes... And yes, I don't get suspended or fired when I make mistakes at my job. If you're getting repercussions for every mistake you make at work, maybe you need another job...?
  15. A. I don't buy that. I havn't seen any refs not being able to keep up with the game. Fans say, "You're old and that's why you suck!" but that doesn't make it true. B. The refs are already accountable. Full time, part time, doesn't matter. It goes back to my previous post; the "fear of being fired" doesn't really make you work better, IMHO. C. That's a good reason. However, I don't think it would happen. The other sports have full-time refs, and there's still major inconsistencies between crews. CW
  16. That seems to be the attitude of some people around here, anyway.
  17. The refs already do all of those things that you mention (film, rules, etc)... So having them fulltime doesn't change that. And there's not much reffing they'd be able to do in the April camps - since there's no contact, of course there'll be no penalties (aside from obvious stuff like false starts). I wouldn't be surprised if refs are at the mini-camps either, although I'm not 100% sure on that. And the whole "jobless" thing? I don't know about you, but I don't really worry about making a mistake and being fired at my current job. If I lost my current job, I'd just go get a new one... It's not like anyone says, "I'm going to be an NFL ref when I grow up!" You make peanuts moving up the ranks. High school games get you about $30/game. College games aren't that much more (unless you get to Division 1, then maybe it's more... But it's still not enough to live on). So all of these people will have lots of other marketable skills, I doubt they'd do a better job because they're fulltime and could be fired. So I still don't see how fulltime=better. CW
  18. Well, if Buffalo hadn't made so many mistakes, that call wouldn't have mattered, so it's not the refs fault Buffalo lost, it's all Buffalo's fault. 100%. Tennessee played a good game, Buffalo didn't. </sarcasm>
  19. I've asked others, and nobody has given me an answer, but I'll try again -- how would hiring full time officials help in the least...? It's not like there's anything to do during hte offseason (and don't think that they're not reading the rule book already during the offseason, on their own time). I don't see how that would help... CW
  20. How do you win 5-3 in sudden death OT...?
  21. http://www.cyber-junkie.com/fun/death/ I'll die in 2044 (69 years old) according to the calculator. Less math involved in my post too CW
  22. Please don't feed the troll
  23. Actually, it sounds more like someone reported it once, and lots of other outlets took the story and made it their own. Journalism in generally has been getting pretty shoddy lately, and this sort of thing is common now
