  1. Just did a little more research on PBEM. Looks like player A mails their file to player B who mails their file to player C, who mails back to player A, etc. That means you could (theoreticaly) get a lot of turns done quickly... CW
  2. It'll probably be relatively slow compared to a regular game, but I'm thinking of doing more than 1 turn a day. Maybe a couple of turns on weekdays and three or four during weekends. I don't know, havn't looked at the logistics yet. So would you be in or out? CW
  3. I know several people here play Civilization IV. I was wondering if anyone wanted to play a PBEM (Play By EMail) game. I'd be willing to host it (once I read the docs and figure out how ). It's an awesome strategy game and I think it'd be fun to play with fellow Wallers. If anyone's interested, post in the thread (or send me PM). Maybe we can try to get this started this weekend. EDIT: Here's the game: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...g=UTF8&v=glance CW
  4. I'd take that one step further and say if you can't afford it, don't buy it. Americans in general like to buy everything and live well beyond their means. If you don't have cash in the bank to buy somethijng (aside from food), then you shouldn't be buying it, credit, debit, or otherwise. CW
  5. In the drive throughs around here, you don't get to see the register at all. They tell you how much it costs, you give them a card, they give you the card and a receipt back. Don't be so quick to judge My wife's been burned several times by them accidentally processing the card twice. If it were the bank/debit card, do you think you'd ge tyour money back? Doubtful. With a credit card, I simply send an email to Citibank )or Chase) telling them about the mistake, and the charge disappears. CW
  6. Well if you don't know how to manage your finances, you should be using cash and not a debit card. Or you should use a credit card and pay it off every day -- you can do that online now. If you don't carry a balance, you won't be charged interest in a credit card and can in fact make a decent amount of extra money for yourself - I routinely make about $500+/year on my charges alone because I charge everything. Not a penny of interest. CW
  7. Windows. Did you hear about the case in London where some "security officials" were spying into the house of a woman while she was changing and such? But that won't happen here. Screw the constitution, who needs checks and balances anyway, as long as you have nothing to hide yourself. Whatever happened to "We'd rather let 1000 criminals go free than to falsely convict one innocent person?" I thought these were what our country was founded on. Oh I'm sorry, things have "changed" now and I'm a terrorist supporter if I disagree with the changes. CW
  8. http://hardware.slashdot.org/hardware/06/03/30/0113220.shtml I like the comment someone made comparing the US to ancient Rome. Sorta... All in the name of anti-terrorism. CW
  9. Copout. I don't know a college student who can't afford $25. You have a PC, don't you? Those cost more than $25. If $25 really is too much, then rent it. Or split it with friends/roomates. Or buy it and then sell it when you're done (you should be able to get $15 for it easy). There are ways, and in this case, it's definately worth it. CW
  10. No, I think it's an awesome story - I even paid attention to it when I watched the scene. The episode is "Shindig." I forgot to put Lost and Battlestar Gallactica on the list. BSG is VERY good, but you do have to watch it from the start to understand the story. Highly work the time though. CW
  11. I've posted about this in the past (in the consumer forum, generally), and most people come back with, "I'm protected, I don't have to worry." Here's some more ammo: http://clarkhoward.com/shownotes/category/7/40/225/ CW
  12. And this is EXACTLY why you should never EVER use a debit card. ALWAYS use a credit card. You have much better protection (plus you can usually get money back from rewards programs). CW
  13. Dude, do yourself a favor and really BUY the DVD. If sales stay high, another movie/season are a real possibility. Why do you think the Serenity move was made? Because DVD *sales* were high. Don't "buy" the DVD. CW
  14. Officially, it's a "Sci-fi western." Everyone I've shown the show to has loved it. Nobody has said, "Eh, it's ok." Everyone has said, "WHY THE HELL WAS THAT SHOW CANCELLED?!?!?!?!" Watch it, you won't regret it CW
  15. Firefly Still #14 in sales at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000AQS0...&v=glance&n=130 If I have to pick shows that weren't cancelled before their time: Smallville (well, I watch it on DVD...) Firefly Prison Break Firefly Veronica Mars Firefly Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are good too. But they're no Firefly. CW
  16. Easy enough to get around. Moulds, you're now the 7th string WR. CW
  17. My wife and I are going to San Diego in May (for a few days before getting on a cruise ship to Hawaii!). Anyway, my company has an office in San Diego, so I asked someone there for a list of things to do and got this: Well there is this http://www.flytorrey.com/ and this http://www.sportfishing.org/ and this http://www.nps.gov/cabr/ and this http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/parks/camping/info.html and this http://www.midway.org/site/pp.asp?c=coIMKTMCF&b=81432 and this http://www.aerospacemuseum.org/ and this that I can get you tickets for http://www.sdmaritime.com/ and this http://4adventure.com/seaworld/ca/default.aspx and this http://gothere.com/sandiego/seaport/ and this http://www.sandiegozoo.org/ CW
  18. Actually, I think the guy pointed at one of the opponents, then did the "throat slash" sign. CW
  19. All I can say is wow....
  20. Biggest upset in NCAA history. Pathetic showing by the Gophers.
  21. I love posts where the poster assumes everyone knows what the hell they're talking about already. Links? Details? We don't need no stink'n links and details!
  22. Anyone watching the NCAA Hockey tourney? I'm watching the Gophers/Holy Cross game, and MAN are the refs calling a ton of penalties. What the heck is up with that? It's relaly taking away from the game, IMHO, as they stop it every minute or two for another penalty. Minnesota has 11, Holy Cross as 8. It's nuts. Gophers are tied at 3, and on the power play. GO GOPHERS!!! CW
  23. I'm not sure how affluent the town is -- I know that Edina and Eden Prairie (which are 'burbs right by Chanhassen) are very ritzy areas. Regardless, they have to have their own fire department, and I'm sure the housing isn't cheap (can't really get much of anything around here for less than $150,000). There's a really nice dinner theater in Chanhassen too. That's about all I know though If the house was burning down while he was in it, shouldn't he have left the house and called 911 (or similar)? I didn't think you were supposed to do that from your own house while it burned... CW
