  1. What, the owner isn't allowed to talk to the GM or coach? During the game, it may be uneeded or even detrimental, but having to talk to the your boss for "hours" during the week isn't really that far fetched... How many of you don't talk to your boss at least a few hours during a week? CW
  2. I don't see how full-time officials would help anything, actually. This isn't like hockey, basketball, baseball, etc, where there's a lot of games to be played. What would the refs do during the offseason? You can only read so much CW
  3. All I know is that even my wife (who watches very little football) saw the game (in HD, on the 100" screen in the basement) and said that he didn't get in. As to your point, the ball is usually tucked in the arm - unless your arm is under or over the ball when lunging at the goalline (which is rarely is because that's an awkward way of carrying the ball), your arm crossing the goalline means that the ball is a few inches behind it. CW
  4. Since when does the elbow and forearm constitute part of the ball? If your'e saying that the forearm just grazed the goalline, there's no way the ball did too. CW
  5. Agreed -- but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities to see Seattle stuff Pittsburgh on 4th and an inch. Heck, Pittsburgh went nowhere on their first three plays... At least make 'em earn it. CW
  6. Send her flowers on the 13th instead. I usually get my wife stuff before or after the holiday (V-Day, birthday, etc), instead of on the day itself. Keeps her guessing, and I think she likes it... (or at least she pretends she does... ) CW
  7. I don't think anyone's blaming the ref for making the call -- that's a tough one to make. But the replay clearly showed he was out. Maybe it's because I was watching on the big screen in HD, but there was no doubt he was down before the ball went in. CW
  8. If you're going to allow that, then I think they should change the rule so that you only need one foot, BUT, if you're pushed out of bounds, you STILL need one foot down. That'd get rid of the "he would've gotten his feet down if he wasn't pushed" judgement call. Takes more pressure off of the officials. If you're stupid enough to be that close to the sideline, then you better make sure you catch it with your feet on the ground - don't jump. CW
  9. No, I like the two feet down thing. As I said, receivers in the NFL all seem to be able to drag their foot without a problem. If you make it one foot down, there's going to be a LOT more scoring in the league. CW
  10. Yup - there were a lot of terrible calls, but this wasn't one of them. You see receivers make plays like that all the time (in bounds). It's actually surprising when they DON'T get the ball and drag the foot. CW
  11. Agreed - but it didn't touch either. Now I'll give the refs the benefit of the doubt on that play. I had the benefit of a 100" HD screen, and it clearly didn't touch the white line. However, I can't imagine that they have that great a screen "under the hood," so fine... But the other calls? 15 yards for tackling the ball carrier? A couple of phantom holding calls (one on the PR, one of the reception at the 1 yard line)? A crappy PI penalty? Pittsburgh only had one penalty the entire game, excluding two false starts on their first drive? Sounds a little strange to me... CW
  12. That was him?! I didn't recognize him! My favorite, by far, was the "You were open, now you're CLOSED!" one. I still chuckle about it. My wife loved the one where the doctor killed the fly, and said, "He's dead now!" as the mom and son walk in the room with their dad on the table. CW
  13. Why would it have to be so big? I'm not saying the players/owners are in on it -- but it only takes one or two refs, doesn't it? (and keep in mind that I'm usually the guy defending the officials; but last night was just ridiculous). CW
  14. The difference is, we're neither Seattle nor Pittsburgh fans, and WE all saw the terrilble one-sided calls. Heck, even the national media is drawing attention to this now. CW
  15. Can you give me a couple of examples of bad calls that went against Pittsburgh? Seriously, I can't remember a single one... They had three penalties for 20 yards, and two of them were false starts on the first drive... CW
  16. Well, I thought the red line was half a yard too far down the field too, so hey CW
  17. That's just it, it ISN'T consistent. 9 times out of 10, you never see that call. CW
  18. Also -- anyone else think that Ben was past the LOS when he threw that long pass? Looked to me that he ran past the LOS, then ran back behind it, then when he released the ball, it was past the LOS. Tough to tell, but it looked it to me. CW
  19. Came up to see if it was just me who thought Seattle was getting hosed. Glad to see it's not. Holgren was pretty pissed off going into the lockerroom too, complaining about the officiating. ("My guys upstairs say the ball didn't cross, but on the field they're saying it did.") CW
  20. I'm glad it's not just me.... Nothing beats SB 25... But the local high school can do a better rendition than this....

  22. Why are there so many more Steelers fans there than Seahawks fans? It's like a home game for Pittsburgh
  23. I love how the fans booed Larry Brown as they're going through the list of Superbowl MVPs. CW
  24. We should all send him a housewarming card. CW
  25. If you're talking about the DVD Profiler -- no, not yet. Just started looking into it yesterday. It's something I think I'm going to do soon though, so will let you know how it goes.
