  1. That's the way I see it. EJ needs to take control of his own destiny. He's no longer the wide eyed rookie. There comes a time when a young man realizes what being a leader is all about. Often, that realization isn't anything like what you expect it to be. He has had time on and off the field to figure things out. I expect we'll see a huge improvement from him this year.
  2. That's been done before. I'd like to see Dareus do that....
  3. I really like a spread formation too. When you have blockers like Felton(his locker is right next to Shady's) and Clay, you can still run with power. Just imagine spreading out the defense like Gailey used to do but now you have a FB and a move TE that can crash into the defensive line and open holes. The beauty of the run game is that formations and movement can be used to distract a defense. Clay can chip his guy and slip out on QB keepers as well. Roman had a top 10 offense in 4 consecutive years as an OC in SF. He can design some kick ass run plays. If Keap was more consistent throwing, that team might have been as unstoppable as NE.
  4. Nice! http://www.endzonescore.com/buffalo-bills-offense-being-remade-under-greg-roman/10397
  5. Actually, Spikes also contributed big on running downs too. Still, I think when teammates have time to work together and trust the man next to you, you become better. Defending the run is all about gap control. When guys are playing their position the way that they are supposed to(trusting the man next to you to do their job as well), the team performs better. Two years ago, I think they had the talent but just didn't play well as a unit. Last year there was an improvement. Perhaps the scheme had a lot to do with it, but it could be just gelling as a team. Amen, brother.
  6. I suppose that's one way to get DLmen to move.
  7. I think LB play had a lot to do with it. The prior year the run D seemed to get burned for some big runs, but I always had the feeling that the D was struggling to gel as a unit. May be a little of both. Another year and these guys know each other pretty well. Regardless of scheme, I think they will improve even more. The secondary looked as good as I have seen last year. I think the on field communication is better. The band is still together and I think that is going to show even more this year.
  8. Roman tried to open up the passing game and Keap didn't live up to expectations.
  9. Author could be right. Depth on the DLine would be helpful.
  10. Security is overrated. Just think NE fans must feel every year arrogantly thinking they will be seeing a contender year in and year out. If the Bills snatch the division title away from them this year, you'll be glad you didn't you didn't have feelings of security. Sports is supposed to be sweeter when the underdog comes out of nowhere and takes down the top dog. Most of us see things about the team they unsure of or are downright skeptical about. But that doesn't stop us from being positive about where things are heading either. The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat and all that jazz. I'm pumped like every off season. Maybe even more than other seasons. I think we might be on to greater things and it feels good. We don't need no stinkin' security. We just need to see our team defy the odds. When it happens, the reward will be all the sweeter.
  11. I like the way you think. EJ will be fine. Cassel is going to be very good competition too. The thing that I'm excited about is having coaches that are going to find a way to get the most out of them. Offense, I think is going to be fun to watch this year.
  12. It's been a long time since we have had both a top notch defensive coach paired with a top notch offensive coach. I am so pumped for this season. Add in all of the weapons..........damn, I'm pumped.
  13. This would make sense. If that is true I don't want any part of him. Anyone that provides death should be avoided.
  14. Did you get a look at our new fullback in that game?
  15. Love the idea, but what if the phone doesn't ring?
  16. I think that would be a flag. Illegal formation.
  17. Shady in the backfield. Harvin and Sammy on the left side of the formation. 6 OLmen on the field in an obvious power run formation. Clay also on the line. With the QB, that's 11 men on the field. Harvin goes in motion like it's going to be a jet sweep. Only the QB doesn't hand it off. The defense is stacking the box and limiting coverage on the receivers as one man follows Harvin. Shady stays in to block for the QB. QB has three routes to choose from, looks at Sammy and pumps once. Pass goes to deep down the seam to Clay. Safety is bowled over when he is caught thinking the pass was going to Sammy and has his hips turned the wrong way to make a play. Pass rushers never had a chance on the QB with 6 OLmen on the field plus Shady.
  18. Beginning to think the Bills pick someone nobody is expecting all throughout the draft. Would be surprised if they picked up a pass rusher while everyone is thinking offense.
  19. The Bills are not going to pick a QB that may not start. The objective with their first pick is to get someone so good that they can start regardless of position. Whaley's comments about staying true to your board have me thinking BPA regardless of position.
  20. Tyrod? Wait til you see how he throws. Your going to be sorely disappointed.
