  1. Yea, I know. But this Revis thing is crazy talk. People start going all ga ga over a name that they heard of. I think Sammy would love to line up against him and I think Sammy would come out on top too. I don't want that. I want a young hungry recruit that will be around for a while. And won't cost so much. Buffalo has a long history of developing great DBs. Keep the trenches beefed up and develop the back end.
  2. Keep on spending your money on expensive toys and see where it gets you, Mr. Snyder. Revis is 29yrs old and OK McKelvin is the same age. I knew someone would start the comparison game. Frankly, you never even read my post. I even stated that I did not say that McKelvin was better. Again, the Bills pass defense is right now ranked 3rd best in the league. You think Revis all by himself is going to make it better, and after losing a 10 sack per season player like Hughes? Revis puts his pants on one leg at a time. He is going to fade just like a lot of great player do. Let's sign him up quick so he can fade on our roster. When was the last time you heard Charles Woodson's name in the news? Or in Pro Bowl discussions? Did you even know he was still in the league?
  3. Hughes alone accounts for 20% of Buffalo's sacks over the last 2 seasons. That is a position that cannot be ignored. Revis may marginally improve the secondary but not the way you are thinking. Then the notion of kicking McKelvin to the curb to make room for Revis is ludicrous too. McKelvin has been improving his game plus he is a great special teams player....plus he is younger. How much longer can Revis play? And at what cost? If you want to see magical, fix the offense. There seems to be a preconceived notion that that Rex is inflexible. That the secondary must be man coverage for his defensive philosophy to work. Revis is a horrible idea. Just imagine how awesome our defense would be if they weren't on the field for 3/4 of the game week in and week out. For some teams, Revis makes perfect sense. For Buffalo, a competent offense puts the Bills in a position to dominate. The defense today is all ready championship caliber. You are not going to get much better than this. Also, just think of the other defensive backs on the team who have been improving their game by working together....communicating together. You bring in Revis and tell all of your guys to play man coverage, you are asking them change from a system that is all ready working very well for them. Revis is agreat player....granted. But people are pretty quick to jump on the bandwagon without considering the whole picture. I know Rex is anxious to put his own stamp on this team, but I just think we have young talent that is more than capable on the D side to dominate. Revis is a household name but for years teams have tried going that route. Washington comes to mind. They liked to stock up on big name FAs. Didn't work out for them. We can pick up some great FAs this year. Young ones that actually improve areas that are not all ready considered a strength. Our passing defense is ranked 3rd in the entire NFL. And that is while the offense is ranked 21st in time of possession. Keep the offense on the field longer and this defense will lead the league. Revis doesn't do that for us. Buffalo is 6th in interceptions. Revis had 2 interceptions this season. McKelvin had 4. Revis played very well for a long time. Earned a couple of big pay days. Big enough to draw national attention. He is good, but he is not the best corner in the league anymore. Now don't go getting the impression that I think Mckelvin is better. I did not say that. But you are actually suggesting that paying big money for a name is the right move. I happen to think it would be a huge mistake. The Buffalo defense is all ready very dominant against the pass and Revis will not make it better. The guys we have are young and have continued to improve. Why in the world would you want to break that up?
  4. Another stratosphere? Really? We have a top 5 defense without Kiko now. Revis is 29yrs old and going to command big money. Our secondary is one of the best in the league now without Revis. This is wasted money. Money that can be spent on fixing things that need to be fixed. Even if we cannot retain Hughes, we still need to find a replacement. Our offense has been a perennial bottom feeder for years and we need to bring in a veteran QB. The concept of working on things that are actually weaknesses seems to be lost on people here. Everybody has heard of Revis though, so that must be a good get. I don't buy it. Our OL sucks. Our QB situation sucks. Our RB and TE spots could use some improvement but hey....lets go buy something we don't need.
  5. That's not a dream.....it's a nightmare! Putting an " * " next to it, flushes all of the thrill right down the toilet for me.
  6. I cannot imagine Whaley being on the same page as this. Plus, I think Rex will always says positive things about his former players. He may have some strong feelings about them, but I think even he knows he cannot bring in a bunch of them. Plus I think ESPN likes to stir the pot a little too much. Really don't see things shaking out this way.
  7. Exactly. And we want to bring in a veteran QB too. Maybe a FA TE. It adds up. People salivate over guys like Revis, but the Bills would be far more productive if they turn weaknesses like OL into a strength. Taking an all ready great secondary and trying to improve it could be a huge mistake. What if we sign Revis for one year and he is injured early in the season? I like Revis. I just think the Bills are better off making splashes on the offensive side of the ball and retaining our guys on defense.
  8. Bad idea. Bills all ready have one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Revis is a big money player. Buffalo has far more pressing needs to spend money on and the secondary ain't it.
  9. Colts were pretenders to begin with. Buffalo would have whipped them.
  10. It's not the players(aside from Brady). It's the system. NE is consistently there because of the type of plays. BTW, NE borrowed some 2 TE set schemes from none other than Roman run offenses. This is going to be one hell of an interesting year. The Bills will be motioning more presnap and mixing up different kinds of run plays. There will be plenty of play action and plenty of throws to TEs. I also don't think Roman has ever had a WR the caliber of Watkins, so yea, one very interesting year coming up. People don't realize how much of a tactician this guy is. We won't even recognize the offense.

  12. This move seems like career suicide for him. Shouda at least tried to make a name for himself as an OC. Instead opts out to take a QB coach job? Marone and Hackett deserve each other.
  13. Watching the Jets through the years, I have been surprised by the playcalling on offense many, many times and thought to myself, "Why can't the Bills draw up a play like that!".
  14. I couldn't help thinking that Buffalo could have beaten a lot of these playoff teams. Bills have been fun to watch this year. Going to fun seeing the offense get their act together next year. Yea, no way GB loses with our D.
  15. David Lee actually has a hell of a resume. And everyone who says he messed up Fitz fail to realize that Fitz had his most productive season under him. Fitz was before and still is a turnover waiting to happen. Lee has been given some huge challenges in his career. Keep in mind, teams that hire a QB coach are trying to fix known problems with the QB or simply working with a rookie. Take a good look at this guy's job history. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/David-Lee-named-Bills-QB-coach/a804232e-e4ee-43c2-87c7-97363072a8fe Hard to believe so many are completely writing him off after watching that. Accuracy, and when he takes off running....wow!
  16. They might even have some pantyhose left over from the Joe N. era
  17. A lot of those are read options where the QB has an option to run. By design, that is ground and pound. When the QB runs it is still a run. Next we'll be saying that passing isn't really passing.
  18. Who I like is GB and the Colts. Who will win...NE and the Hawks.....sigh....
  19. The Bills have one of the leagues best pass defenses. Games like the one against GB show just how great this defense is. Now just think how much better the Bills would be if they could just be successful running the ball. When you run, you are chewing up more clock and preventing these top QBs in the league from having as many opportunities. It's a sound philosophy. The fact that Roman brought back 1980s running schemes with so much success indicates that today's defenses are no longer prepared for such concepts. It's not just about running the ball, though. It's about having a powerful defense to go with it. Also, it's a necessary plan. The Bills are very unlikely to build a high octane passing attack without a passing machine QB like what you are dreaming of. That being said though, doesn't mean that the offense is going to abandon the pass. When you have receivers like Sammy and Robert on the roster, you use them. The big difference is instead of passing to set up the run, you are instead running to set up the pass. Make no mistake. Just because a ground and pound offense is installed, doesn't mean that the rest of the offense will be ignored. I can see Roman digging up playbooks from some of Buffalo's archives. If he thinks Walsh's running concepts were incredible, wait until he gets a good look at Buffalo's. Buffalo has an amazing history utilizing the rushing attack. Defenses today have been adapting with aggressive schemes designed to stop the pass. That aggressiveness can come back to bite you. One way to exploit those aggressive defenses is by using the running plays that no one remembers anymore. Today the pass is all the rage. Tomorrow that may not be true.
  20. Gailey vs Roman? I can't wait to see Rex's defense destroy Gailey's offense. I like Gailey vs Rex better.
  21. He did? That's news to me. I think EJ had a lot of great opportunities to run but chose not to.
  22. Who says it has to be fair when you are in an environment where the HC is seeking out the best he can find? Often in his mind it is the guy that he knows he can work with. Sometimes he needs to fill a position with who thinks is the best man available and the guy left over from the previous regime is the odd man out....even if he did a good job. Fair? Seriously? You are at the mercy of the one who is doing the hiring. Even if you are excellent at your job, if the person doing the hiring doesn't like you, you are dead in the water.
