  1. I know many people wanted flashier skill position players. We all ready have one of the highest scoring offenses in the league and adding another skill position isn't really going to create a big jump. There is only one ball. OLmen and DLmen are on the field contributing on every down. I like this draft, because there are no reaches to fill some perceived need. The team is stronger and looking back at the way this draft was run, I think there is some potential for some of these guys to be big contributors. I also think that the positions drafted are highly valued league wide and we may be able to score some draft picks in trade.
  2. The great thing about having so many pass rushers is that you can rotate guys in and out and there is going to be someone who can get there quick no matter who is the starting line. I do think that the coaches have been rethinking what the DL should look like. Haven't figured out what they are thinking but it is clear they want the QB to get smacked around. I think training camp is going to be real interesting. Buffalo has a bunch of young DEs and they are good. Going to be real hard to keep them off the field.
  3. Some of the games Feliciano did play were at C. That line never had a chance to get into a run blocking groove all season. All of the shuffling was a problem. Hopefully, our starters can settle into their positions and get used to playing beside the same guy throughout the season.
  4. The Bill's with a pass rush could be very dangerous, even to Cleveland. I'm sitting back and thinking Beane is not playing around. If the OL can be better at run blocking, the offense is going to incredibly dominant. That tackle we just picked up is one strong boy(tap into that, we might be on to something). This is a sneaky good draft for us, so far.
  5. The East is so far behind they still can't catch us. I think having a great QB does that for us.
  6. Hopefully, Raiders and KC beat up on each other. Hopefully, that entire division gets stronger and KC gets stuck in the muck.
  7. When the NY Giants defeated NE in the Superbowl, they ran what they called a NASCAR defense. Basically, they put 4 DEs on the line and got after Brady that way. Wondering if McD has something similar in mind.
  8. I'm seeing a pattern with Beane. He just kept adding players to the OL until it was fixed. The OL took a bit of a step back with injuries this year, but the passing game still launched into the stratosphere. He's doing the same thing with the DL. The great thing about the way he is doing it is that most of them are not being paid big money. The contracts for Star, Mitch and Dion are fairly hefty but overall, he's keeping the money spent under control. I think the DL will be markedly improved this year. I think sacks, tackles for a loss, will increase significantly. We needed youth on the DL and I think they are going to let it rip.
  9. Apparently, he is much faster than the time he ran coming out of college too. I know that isn't that important when you are running between the tackles, but it sure does make a difference when you bust out past them. Singletary has some god given ability. Now, he has a top notch training program that is teaching him things he never knew before. Really looking forward to seeing how he does and whether the coach has let him out of the dog house yet...lol.
  10. For all the smart asses with quick takes, I highly recommend actually reading the article that was posted. It was very inspirational. And the trainer is adamant that Singletary is going to be much faster. Hit his holes quicker and tear it up this year. This was a very good read and provides very good insight into Singltary's training program as well as his mindset.
  11. Was watching some of Etienne's highlights. He really has a flair for making defenders miss. And the way Clemson's QB handed off, he always looked like he was going to keep the ball himself. I could see some serious misdirection with Josh doing the same and to keep the D honest run it himself occasionally. But to trade up for him? That sounds expensive for a RB.
  12. True, Lee blocked many times in pass protection on 3rd and long. Duh! On 1st down, though? The point was, Lee was not very versatile. You always knew what he was going to do. Block.
  13. Sweeney had a knack for find soft spots in coverage even though he isn't very fast. He also produced pretty well as a blocker, though not as well as Lee Smith. The fact that he can both block and catch makes him pretty valuable. Whenever Lee Smith was on the field there was no disguising a run was coming. With Tom Sweeney on the field, that is not a problem. I'm glad he's back.
  14. That Tar Heels RB looks pretty good to me. Love the way he lowers his shoulder and just bowls people over. I think the Bills should trade down, get a good CB in a deep CB draft, get this RB and pick up an extra pick in the middle rounds where Beane seems to have a knack for finding gems. Hope they pick up another young OLman in this draft too. They do need to get that run game fixed. But I'm just an armchair GM and looking back at what I just wrote completely over looked pass rusher. Another big need. Perhaps they could take a chance on one of the DEs that opted out last year. Maybe one of them is diamond.
  15. I've been thinking that the Bills could possibly go with another 3 tech pass rushing DLman. We know Ed Olliver and Harrison Phillips had sick pass rushing numbers in college. Maybe they intend to go Nascar defense. That's the same defense the Giants ran when they beat NE in the Superbowl. Basically, they put 4 DEs on the line and got after Brady. With the big numbers QBs are putting up today, wouldn't surprise me if big fat guys like Star become a thing of the past. Would rather have a 1T who can forklift an offensive tackle right into a QB, but guys like that are incredibly rare.
  16. I understand what you are saying, but whoever they do pick, they are still looking for someone who can start. That is an impact. When I said impact player, I meant someone who can step right in and contribute. Even if it ends up being an offensive lineman, that's still an impact if they end up starting. Picking at 30 is a tough spot to be in, though. Going to be hard to find those kinds of players.
  17. I think the obvious thing to remember is that the Bills will be looking for a high impact player. It could be a running back or WR. It could be a CB or DE. Thing is, where they are picking, the position they want filled the most isn't likely to be the position that will be filled. It's going to be any position that provides the biggest impact for the team. That article the OP is talking about still has some speculation in it. They are speculating what the Bills want and maybe there is some truth in there, but don't be surprised if we are all wrong about who they pick. There are many ways to get better but who is going to be the biggest impact player? Wish I knew, but I don't. So, I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the show. I don't think I want to be in Beane's shoes right now. Toughest draft he's had yet.
  18. Check thread titled "This Just in - Good Analysis of Moss & Singletary in 2020" The video is a pretty good watch. I think so Cheeko....😄 The problem with Moss, he was hitting his hole before it opened up. Blocking scheme did change though, to accommodate his running style.
  19. I think the front office knows that Singletary is the best running back on the team at, well...running. Buffalo's issues at rushing had very little to do with the backs themselves. The OL was banged up and they changed the blocking scheme mid season. That is where the focus will be this year. The OL is going to be getting a lot of reps for rushing the ball. This is still a passing team, but the OL is on notice. They need to run block better. Singletary isn't going anywhere, IMHO. Midway through the season, the Bills changed the blocking scheme, because Moss is very quick to hit the hole...too quick. Singletary was better at waiting for his block, then hitting the hole. Some blocking schemes take time to develop, while others are designed for that one cut and run that Moss is used to. When people say Moss and Singletary are similar, they really don't know what they are talking about. Moss is impatient. Singletary is patient. Very different types of runners. Both are effective with the right blocking scheme.
  20. Yes, at running. At blocking on a pass happy team? Not so much. He also had 3 penalties while blocking which was the worst in the league. He was way more explosive with the ball in his hands though. Moss started to improve with a change in the blocking scheme. Very good video here. Moss was the best pass blocking RB in the league. He was a major contributor in Josh's big passing numbers last year.
  21. 12 personnel is not a trick play. The thing that is interesting is that the Bills ran it with a big bruising TE last year and every time they did, the defense knew it was a run. I believe the whole point of wanting to run 12 personnel more often, is that you can also pass from that formation. That by itself will keep the defense guessing whether it is a run or a pass. Simply put, all Josh will have to do is watch to see if the LBs are creeping up or dropping back to determine if it will be a pass or a run. The TEs can stay in to block, or split out and catch a pass. This is a good plan because it keeps your intentions hidden from the defense. Which means both running and passing becomes more successful. It's a very shrewd move if true. It's also in line with what the more modern offenses do. Those TE's have value to the team by being multidimensional.
  22. That's pretty impressive stuff. This kid is the real deal. And those SF highlights are sick. A pull center isn't worth a crap unless the rest of the line is pulling too. Our guards are strong but can't pull anything but a muscle.
  23. On offense, improving the run game would take it to the next level. There are 2 ways to do that. You could go for a superstar running back that is so talented that it won't matter that the OL is mediocre at run blocking. The other way is to bring in more OL talent. Someone with a nasty streak that can create movement on those blocks. A talented TE would also improve this offense. Needs: RB, run blocking OLmen, TE. A superstar RB IMHO is probably the biggest impact. Defensively, there is a lot going on that people don't realize about the DL. Not having Star in there as a nose tackle was a huge problem last year until about halfway through the season. Everyone on the DL had to get better at stopping the run because Star wasn't there. Also, people assume the pass rush was weak because the DEs are weak. The entire DL was weak because there wasn't enough beef on that line. It's a team sport. When the man next to you is the weak link, your own responsibility increases. That's what happened last year, but as the season wore on, the DL got better. At the end, watching KC pick us apart last year was frustrating. They mixed things up pretty good and the D couldn't keep up. We need improved DL play, yes, but not for the reasons many think. We needed our LBs keeping outside contain instead of helping the DL inside. We needed CBs that could cover shifty receivers. And more importantly we needed beef on that line so the other playmakers could do what they do best. Needs: Nasty NT, CB, LB depth Special Team is also important. We have a decent kicker. Punter is so, so. A good gunner would be nice, and we could be in trouble with kick/punt returner. Needs: Hate to say it, but we need McKenzie back to fill the return duties. The thing with special teams, aside from kicker/punter/long snapper, is that everyone plays another position too. The talent brought in will likely need to have special teams experience as well. Going to be tough this year. Fewer draft picks to work with and less money as well. This is a real test for Beane this year.
  24. This game is going to be fun to watch. The defense is clearly much better than it was during that first game. But I am really optimistic about the Bills offense too. Jon Feliciano was out that last game. John Brown was playing hurt. And I think Dawson Knox will play a key role this time around. KC has been weak all year against defending TEs. There are many things that have changed. Even Allen appears to be playing at a higher level. I suspect our TEs and RBs will be heavily involved in the passing game, especially if KC continues to run with 2 deep safties. The OL has been doing a fantastic job blocking for Josh lately. There are so many little things. It all adds up to a big surprise for KC. I suspect the offense will really get rolling.
  25. KC is good at taking away the deep stuff. That isn't a problem when you have so much speed at WR. Diggs, Beasley and even TE and RB have proven they can get open quick. I think that will also slow down the pass rush. Funny thing is, Buffalo's OL has really improved too. I'm not sure they are even going to be able to get to Allen anyway. If that happens, Allen is going to shred them. Also, I have noticed a trend. The Bills have been quietly using motion more often. Easy to overlook, because they don't do it a lot. Allen has been using that to get a handle on what the D is doing. It's been helping him to identify mismatches and figure out who is in single coverage. This game is going to look a lot different from the previous game. I also think the run game is going to have a nice day, simply because the OL is playing better, and it isn't going to be expected.
