Nice post. Now to make it a completely perfect draft, you'd not only add a couple of starters, you'd add starters at positions that currently have old guys filling those roles. The objective is to build a team that consistently is in the playoffs over the next 10 years. DE is good example. We have 3 DEs over the age of 30. Get one that is good enough to start and add another starter or two, you've basically pulled off a hat trick. If you did this and added 3 other starters you probably have god-like powers at your disposal. Another thing that keeps teams consistently winning is knowing when to cut your losses. When contracts come up we want to keep our best players of course, but you can't pay everyone top dollar. There isn't enough money. Finding quality to replace older talent helps, but sometimes young studs are let go because the contract demands are too much of a drag on the rest of the team. Consistently finding replacements in the draft is the best way to keep from losing those young studs. Tre comes to mind. It will be interesting to see how Beane handles this draft because this is basically his most difficult one to date. I like that he went out and got a proven talent at WR. The price was hefty so now he's really going to be under pressure with the few picks he has left to pull off that hat trick mentioned above.

I'm less concerned with specific positions. If the team is improved with better starters or increased depth, mission accomplished. That's going to be hard to do if you are focused on just a couple of positions. If it just so happens that a couple of weak positions are also improved, then I'd say the draft was not just successful but damn near perfect.

Probably asked to be traded. If they can't find a trade partner, they may just cut him. That would be the time to pounce. Giving up draft picks though?

Agree, except for the bolded. The order is going to be dictated by how the draft falls and who they like. I do believe that DE is a big concern because there is no youth there, but if one of the top WRs, RB, or even CBs fall to our 1st pick, you have to take them.

Agree with most of this. Adding youth is also important because no team can afford to pay everyone when contracts come up. Sometimes the best way to prepare for the future is to stack good players behind good players. Yes, we all ready have two very good safeties, but will Buffalo be able to pay both their worth when their contracts are up? We have some very good WRs and some decent RBs. The same would apply there too. Or DE.....we have two of the best at disrupting the QB though they are getting a bit long in the tooth. Need some youth behind them. Need a plan for the future. Don't really agree with the trade up scenarios though. Maybe after the 2nd round but not before.

I'm a little more interested in who might fall into our lap. We all ready know that there will likely be a run on WRs early this year. Another run on some other position could drop a really good player down to us. Plus I am terrible at picking sleepers.

Don't really know how the draft is going to play out, especially when we are waiting this long to make our 1st pick. I think there are a number of specific players that are on Beane's radar. He may play the waiting game because he is certain one of the players he wants will fall to our pick. If there is more than one player that falls, I would not be surprised if Buffalo picks at #54 then immediately starts looking for a trade up from our second pick. This seems like the most likely scenario when considering Beane's draft history. I don't think trying to trade up from #54 is in the cards, because the price is too steep. Could be wrong here but it seems we have some ammo to make some moves in the upper/middle rounds. I don't want to get too wrapped up in who my favorite pick is. The focus should be in filling the roster with contributors that can have a positive impact. We all want a home run pick. Some see RB, Edge or WR as that pick. Truth is, there are a crap load of other positions. Whoever it ends up being, you can bet that the roster will improve and the team will be stronger. My personal opinion is that there will be a focus on improving the running game. The run and the pass compliment each other. On paper, the WR position is strong now. RB still needs some work. That doesn't necessarily mean RB is going to be the 1st pick. Defense could use a couple of pieces too. Maximizing positive impact throughout the draft will be tricky because after trading our 1st to get Diggs means we are now coming late to the game.

I wouldn't mind seeing a rookie drafted at all. I want to see our British rugby star out there practicing this summer too. Maybe Yeldon deserves some more reps. Bottom line is, put bodies out there on the field to compete. Whoever earns the right to play in practice, will end up dressing on game day. The best way to ensure success is making sure you have as many options as possible to choose from and letting them battle it out.

Second half of the season, Josh and the offense was really figuring things out. Diggs is only going to improve things. I can see Buffalo picking up another RB and leading the league running the ball. I'm also salivating over seeing how our WRs compliment each other. There is some serious speed on this team. Defenses will need 2 deep safeties. Brown and Diggs will be open a lot if defenses don't. Having serious deep threat receivers does a lot to help the run game too. Stack the box and get burned over the top....back the defense up to defend the deep ball and the running game and short passes rule the roost. That doesn't mean we won't seek out another WR, OL, RB or TE. Good teams have depth. Whoever we pick up next may not need to be a starter, just a quality backup. This team is well on it's way to filling nearly every hole. Every position group has some serious talent too. Getting pumped. We may pick up players on defense too. Look for the weak links on the roster. Those are the guys that prime candidates to be replaced. Don't just look at starters. You have to look at who might be a liability as a backup as well.

Maybe Star is traded for a Draft pick.

With all of the additions so far, I have no idea what position the Bills will target in the 2nd. Neither will anyone else come draft time. Genius!!! Just sit back and let the draft come to them. I would not rule out bundling picks to move up either.

He racked up a bunch of tackles for a loss too. I think he could be better than any DE on the market. Plus he's healthy and in his prime.

I don't think he can replicate last year either. His 9 1/2 sacks were dumb luck after playing out of position most of the year. I would like to see a real DT replace him at less cost. Him going on record saying he is one of the best DTs in the league is just ridiculous too. He wants to drive up his market value way above what he is actually worthy. He's not a bad DT, just nowhere near what he wants to get paid.

It's amazing how many of those short dump offs went for big gains. The whole offense was in search of an identity all year. I think they are on the right track though with this kid though. Get some more consistency in the passing game we could have something. Another running back that isn't 100yrs old would help too.

Or playing top 10 defenses repeatedly over the last few weeks. I think this will be a break out game for the offense against a weak defense. Look at Allen's completion percentage throughout the season. He was comfortably above 60% the first half of the season. As soon as he started playing top defenses that percentage tumbled. The Texans have too many flaws on defense and Buffalo has the weapons to exploit them. I think Daboll is doing a good job. His offense is complicated and against weaker defenses, shines. I have to believe that the offense is still growing into a more dominant unit. The only thing I am concerned about is how conservative the team plays when we have a lead. In the playoffs, that mentality can come back to bite you. Got to keep your foot on the gas.

I do that too. Just get some good rolls from the local deli, brush some egg white on them sprinkle on the caraway seed and salt, bake for about 7mins at 350. Easy.

I'd like to see a good old fashioned a** whoopin'. Beat the Patriots up so bad that come next week, their whole team is limping into Miami.

Way up in Potsdam. We get the Syracuse channels, but I also have Sunday Ticket. I'm thinkin I'll get it, but maybe not. If not, I can go down to the local AMVETS and see if it's on cable.

Before the game even started we all knew this was a game that featured two very good defenses. One defense leads the league in sacks and turnovers. The other(Our defense) loves forcing the other team into passing situations and then bringing the heat. With the Bills up by 7 and a rookie QB trying to win the game for the Steelers, what is the most productive way to win? Do you loosen up the offense and sling the rock against the fiercest pass rush in the league in an attempt to ice the game, or do you depend on the defense by eating as much clock as you can, knowing the other team will have no choice but to pass in order to win the game? I know we all want more production out of our offense, but there is dumb and then there is well.....dumb. BTW, some should go back and re-watch this game. The offense was not playing scared. If you look more closely, you see that Josh dropped back to pass several times in the 1st half. It looked like a clear attempt to set up some running plays. In the second half it was not a run up the gut for a TD, but a 15yd pass to a TE. There were moments when the offense played aggressively, but against a defense this good, you simply don't press your luck too much. You take what the defense gives you. You bide your time, play smart and don't leave yourself open to turnovers. Buffalo played a great defense last week. They played a great defense this week and they'll play another next week. This is about smart football and some folks really need to just step away from the ledge.

Your down at the 10yd line. A pick here or a fumble here could be 6pts for the bad guys. You don't risk that when you have a whole half to play. Definitely the right call.
