9/26/21 GameDay Bills vs. WFT Pregame Thread
Rockinon replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Allen is still going to sling the rock. Their secondary is easy pickins. Wind will factor in but this is a golden opportunity to exploit a weakness. I think Josh gets his first 300yd game this season and Singletary cracks 100yds rushing. Allen might even get close to that rushing. -
I think I'm the bad luck charm...see below

Pittsburgh's D looks better than advertised. Tough loss. Going to have to knuckle down here on out. -

It's not unlikely that the Bills jump out to an early lead, forcing Ben to take some deep shots downfield. This could get ugly fast for him. Fingers crossed...lol. Damn, I'm getting excited... -

Anyone thinking Ben is going to be spending a lot of time on his back in this one? -

Yeah, but they are running toward the Rocky Mountains instead of away. That's the wrong direction..... -
Didn't he play a lot of nose tackle last year? And isn't that what a nose tackle's job is? To take on blockers? With Star back and Harrison healthy, he can now play 3 technique again. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Oh, playing football in the rain on a real turf field that turns to mud is a riot. But I'm with Scott, I no longer like going to games in the elements, especially when you have family members along complaining the whole way...haha.

I really think Singletary could break off a couple of nice runs. The Buffalo offense is going to put that D on it's heels early. Nobody can stop them.

Haha, yeah NE fans are spoiled rotten.

A few years ago, I went on a business trip to Pittsburgh. During the day, I was in training classes. At night, I found a few places around town to eat and have a couple of beers. There was a place that made a nice pizza and was loaded with locals and I proudly wore my Bills cap in there. I was greeted with curiosity about my hat and one fella, a die hard Steelers fan, and talked for some time. He recommended a couple of places around town to eat and we talked football with a little light hearted smack mixed in. One of the things that I found interesting is even though many of the steel factories were shuttered, the town was going through a sort of renaissance. Small businesses were booming, young people were buying up local homes that once belonged to steel workers and fixing them up. There are lots of neighborhoods on hillsides looking down over the Three Rivers. The food was good, the people and the city itself reminded me a lot of Buffalo. Anyway, toward the end of the week, I returned to that bar where I talked football with a Steelers fan. Ran into him again and he said he was glad I came back because he had something for me. He then disappeared into the parking lot and returned with a license plate with a Steelers logo on it...haha. I laughed and told him what am I supposed to use this for, target practice? He said no, it's just a souvenir from Pittsburgh. I accepted the gift and soon returned to my hotel room. Overall, had a good experience in Pittsburgh. The thing is, as you become older, wiser, you learn that there are good people everywhere. Even in a rival football town. Had a similar experience in Norristown, PA, not far from Philly, but that's another story...lol. Got a little long winded with this one.

I don't know. Watching Allen and the offense in that last preseason game, it looked like the whole offense was clicking. Plus, many of these guys were in the AFC championship game last year. I think these guys are about to open up a can of whoop ass. I think they are super focused and getting the crowd noise back is going to a huge benefit. Just don't see them letting the hyped up crowd faze them negatively.

Efe Obada “true sack score” ranked 9th in league

Good point. I've been wondering if a trade is coming. Training camps often have injuries. Wouldn't at all be surprised. Also, the way Beane stockpiles certain positions like DE and OT, almost seems like he planned it that way. -

I think it's much simpler than folks think. There is an abundance of DE. Some of them can play DT and the ability to play multiple positions is valuable to the coaches. There will be competition. Someone will be cut because someone else is better. Simple. -
From what I understand, they actually changed the blocking scheme because Zack was not patient enough. Singletary on the other hand was great at waiting for his blockers. Zach came from a system where he would hit the hole quickly. Singletary came from a system where the play took longer for the hole to open up. Now, I think the team is experimenting with different blocking schemes and I think that they will figure some things out. Last year was a mess because people on the OL were moving around, injuries, and they simply didn't have enough time to get the run game going. That will be addressed this year and I believe all of the RBs will benefit from that. The offense is still going to be a predominantly pass heavy, but the coaches have made clear that the run game needs to be more effective.

I see the running game being much more productive. Offensive line cures last year's ills and Singletary busts out. He's only a dark horse because so many think he'll lose his starting job. Actually, I think all three running backs are going to tear it up with the OL settling into a groove. We score fast, then run the clock out. Coaches are intent on making the run game more effective.
