  1. I was thinking the same. That cover 1 video above is very interesting. Earlier I mentioned that I thought the Bengals would play 2 deep safeties all game, but it's obvious they don't like to do that. Very interesting because the Bills are very good at play action passes. If that is how Cincy wants to play defense, they are in for a very rude awakening. They do not want to leave a WR with single coverage against the Bills. Josh is excellent at finding that receiver. No wonder Cincy's pass defense is so pedestrian.
  2. Some good stuff here. Cincy may very well try to establish a run game too, if for no other reason to keep the Buffalo offense off the field. Buffalo's defensive tackles are fairly healthy now though. And our linebackers are good too. Poyer's health is a concern but I think the Bills are simply playing it safe with him. I think Cincy will find that they will have to lean on the pass game perhaps after finding the run game is not working? Then find out the Buffalo pass defense is better than they thought too. I really hope they do try to get their run game going. As for your 3 bullet points, those are keys in any football game. Lets hope the Bills protect the football and minimize penalties. Not sure how many big plays there will be. Both teams are going to do there best to limit them. As for coaching, I have been thoroughly impressed with Buffalo's in game adjustments. Especially on defense. As for Buffalo's receiving options, I don't know if you've noticed, but Josh has been passing to RBs more lately. Have had some success there too. It's still going to be a balance between run, pass and screens because there is no way Cincy is going to leave a deep WR in single coverage. Josh has been finding all season long that this is how defenses are playing him. He has found ways to keep the offense clicking even though the deep stuff hasn't been there. I still believe the big difference between these two teams is defense. Cincy is going to have a hard time keeping Josh Allen and company in check and not the way around.
  3. That is not a very good plan for Cincy in my opinion. Josh can still sling the rock and Diggs has been quiet the last couple of weeks. That plus their pass defense is suspect. They will need to drop more defenders into coverage, so having someone spy Josh makes it more difficult for them. As for the running game, not many teams run out of a spread offense. It not only spreads the offense. It spreads the defense too. The Bills will test it and their recent success is reason for optimism. I expect Cincy to almost exclusively keep two deep safeties, so I expect some RB screens in this game as well. Another weapon will be Knox. He'll stay in to block most plays but will bump and then slip into a route too. It will be a balanced attack. A mixture of pass, run and quick dump offs. I do believe Josh will take a couple of deep shots too. Cincy's defense will have their hands full much more than Buffalo's D. This is just an opinion of course. Cincy can get hot. Still, just don't think they are on the same level. They need a better defense. That's the big difference between these teams.
  4. Good post. I will go a bit further. Many here are really underestimating Buffalo's defense. Some actually comparing KC to Buffalo and saying how well Cincy did against KC. Big difference between Buffalo's D and KC's. I see a bunch of people talking about a 3 man rush and dropping more into coverage. Buffalo does not need to drop more into coverage because LBs like Edmunds are so good in coverage. The Buffalo defense is good specifically because it's pass defense is so good. Now many will argue that the pass defense has dropped off and it has. That does not mean that they are going backwards. They simply have 2 rookies learning on the job and some injuries they have had to deal with. I expect the Bills will go with a 4 man rush and be effective. The defensive backs will be up to the challenge this week. And Cincy will struggle to move the ball. Don't underestimate the game plan by Buffalo's coaching staff. Meanwhile, Cincy's D isn't that great. They have been good at stopping the run and pedestrian at stopping the pass. I see Buffalo going with a balance attack. Perhaps a bit more pass plays than run plays and being effective at both. There is a recent trend that has been over looked. The running backs have been successful out of a spread offense. Perhaps a little Chan Gailey type success. Was Kromer with Buffalo when Gailey was the HC? Either way, this is a pretty cool development. The kind of stress this puts on a defense is noticeable. Safeties may decide the best course is to keep playing deep, but if the run is effective, they'll have to make some hard choices. Drop into coverage and watch the run game beat you. Move up, and watch the pass game beat you. All this from the exact same spread offense. I get the media hype. Cincy is a good football team. A dangerous team. They managed to find a back door into the Superbowl last year. If they had to go through Buffalo, I am not convinced they would have made it that far. And I am not convinced they are on Buffalo's level this year either. Of course maybe I'm seeing things through rose colored, Bills fan glasses, but I don't think so. Go Bills! Also, if Cincy plays Buffalo like they do KC, they are in trouble. Mahomes is one squirrely QB. That's not Josh. Josh will lower his shoulder and run through a defender. Or stiff arm a defender. Or hurdle a defender. Completely different animal.
  5. They are running well in 11 personnel. That's a spread formation. This is really good news. Josh is dangerous with a spread formation and defenses are dropping extra defenders in coverage. To be able to run in this formation puts a great deal of stress on the defense. This could be something to take advantage of in future games.
  6. Some Dolphags fan is who will through a snowball
  7. He's back on the practice squad. Not elevated for this game.
  8. Uh, what was the TD to Knox?
  9. John Brown is playing. I predict a healthy dose of running plays with a sprinkle of play action passes and Allen throwing deep. Brown may be the target or the decoy. Jets are expecting the Bills to dink and dunk but they in for a rude awakening.
  10. I don't remember this. Is there a video out there?
  11. He's on the waiver wire. Not sure he's any good though. 4th round draft pick that couldn't hold a starting role on the team. You're right though he would be cheap and would be one extra body. Raiders let let him go with another year left on his rookie contract, so maybe not worth it.
  12. There were a bunch of guys sick last week too
  13. Pats can get after the QB and with the Bills OL issues, this could be a problem. However, JA is very good at avoiding the sack and scrambling. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will JA's elbow be less of an issue or will this be another game where he is tossing a lot of checkdown passes? I see Belichick trying to take away those quick dump offs. Could be the game that Allen goes back to airing it out after a full week of rest. Also, with the OL issues, the running game is once again relying on JA to make up the difference. The running game was just starting to look good until injuries threw a monkey wrench into things. Another concern is our ailing DEs. We need to keep the pressure on Jones. This is looking like another gut wrenching game. Don't really foresee a blowout....unless another week for Josh has arm feeling loose.
  14. I just would have told him "No s**t Sherlock"
  15. Guys just need to make plays. Can't be all Allen all the time.
  16. Those two were the starters in game one.
  17. Or we do and plan on having an extra OLman. May be running focusing on running the ball a lot
  18. Hines is a pass catching RB with the skill to forces the defense to respect his effectiveness coming out of the backfield to catch the ball. The beauty of having a pass catching RB in this offense is that somebody has to cover him. Using a linebacker is a clear mismatch with his speed. Using a DB is also not great because now you have one less DB to cover WRs. Somebody is going to be in one on one coverage and that makes it a high percentage reception with a quality QB like Josh Allen. This is a sneaky good pickup by Beane. That being said, Hines is a weapon that will need time to understand his role in this offense. This isn't an easy playbook to learn. Don't expect him to have a lot of snaps if any this week. I can see perhaps a couple of plays on offense but not much more than that.
  19. If the Bills lose, it would be because they screwed the pooch. There is no scenario where the Packers actually beat the Bills. Seriously, that team is in bad shape. The Bills are the Bills greatest threat. Not GB.
  20. What the heck happened to the Raiders this year? Shut out by the ain'ts...
  21. Zack Wilson throws back to back big gainers 63yds then 23yds to get to the 2yd line, then gets sacked for a 7yd loss with 2 minutes left. Finally scores with 1:51 left. NE will run 3 times to take as much time off the clock as they can. Jets fans must be imploding right about now.
