  1. Depends on how wet the field is. Guys like Cook can break ankles the way he can cut and accelerate on a dry field. On a wet field the bigger backs can just hit there gap and power through. Don't discount passes to the backs either. Going to be a fun game to watch. I think Josh is up to the challenge and he's built some confidence with those quick passes. The Bills will be looking to take away the strength of that Washington defense which is their Dline. I still think Cook gets the lions share of the snaps. He's been pretty good so far. He could do well if he doesn't loose his footing on a wet field. He's earned it.
  2. Your going to lose that bet.
  3. Josh is going to continue to work those short area passes, getting the ball out quick and really frustrating the Washington defense. The difference between Wash and NYJ is they don't have as talented defensive backs. Feeling pretty confident that Josh is going to carve them up. I like their QB. He's showing some promise but now he's going up against a really good defense. Bills are going to win this game handily.
  4. 36 - 13 Bills Washington has a good defense but can't stop this. Their QB is showing promise but he's not there yet.
  5. It was nice to see the success from the short game, but there was more to it than just short passes. It was to a plethora of different players. RBs, TEs, WRs not named Diggs. This is a major problem for the defense because they don't know who it is going to next. The only options to stop this, is to put more speed on the field or to bring one of those high safeties down closer to the box. Neither is necessarily a good option. Whenever, the offense can force defenses to do things they don't want to do, it is a going to open up other options. For instance, putting more defensive backs in the game, opens up some running options or screen passes. Just imagine a DB taking on a block from a TE on a screen. Bringing up a safety leaves someone 1 on 1 in the deep passing game. When defenses realize that it's pick your poison on how to defend, the offense is doing it's job well. Having so many different weapons for Josh is really going to open up the playbook. The offensive coaches and players must be salivating right now. I'm not predicting a close game at all. The offense is just getting warmed up. I believe the score will be similar to the Raiders game. I see a deep shot or two coming. Don't know when, exactly. Will depend on when a D realizes they can't take away anything short and try to adjust. Maybe it won't be this game. Defenders may want to see if Josh can consistently deliver in the short game. But if last week is any indication, the offense looks like it is just getting started.
  6. Safety coming.
  7. I think having that extra TE on the field will limit what Crosby can do if he's being chipped all game. I also think that running the ball can be successful if the Raiders are too aggressive. That right side of the OL can run block. Hoping to see a more balanced attack. A more spread the ball around attack.
  8. I'm looking for a spread the ball around approach this week. Let the young guys make some plays. This cannot be a Josh and Diggs hero ball game. Let the RBs run and catch. Let the TEs catch some balls. Let the offensive line show what they can do. Josh's problems last week were all about who to trust IMHO. This is a team sport and Josh just needs to get the other weapons more involved. I'm thinking a bounce back game is coming.
  9. Everyone saw the poor passing games from last year as defenses began taking away the deep routes. They found a way to combat against what was once Allen's bread and butter plays. This game is just an example of a great defense getting even better against Allen. Allen is going to figure it out. The WRs will figure it out. Dorsey will figure it out. I see people talking about the high/low route concepts, something that the Bills have been running every year since Allen became a Bill. And believe me, the Jets have been paying attention too. The Bills aren't the only ones watching film, studying tendencies. Me personally, playing the blame game isn't productive. Doing just what Allen stated in his press conference is. Learn from the game and correct the mistakes. The game of football evolves because it is as much of a chess game as a physical skill game. When the opponent changes strategy you adjust your own to compensate. This is the 1st game of the season. The Jets played a hell of a defense. Allen, the WRs and Dorsey now have film to get the job done and I have confidence they will do just that. It is not time to panic. Give me a couple more performances like this last game and I will start to worry. The overall theme of this tread seems a little over the top with the criticism. But hey, I'm just sitting in my armchair making observations. What do I know.
  10. Bad throw. Gabe had a step. Gotta put that over the defender.
  11. Josh has to look at his other receivers. Use those TEs.
  12. I'm happy to see the offense moving the ball against this defense. Jets D is good. Josh's targets are well covered. The run game is tough sledding. Pressure is getting there quick. I want to see more of the TEs getting more involved in the second half. Make those DBs and safeties tackle those bigger bodies.
  13. Bills are scoring on the opening drive. Book it.
  14. RPOs are not a good plan against this team. That moment when Josh is sticking the ball in the RBs gut and deciding whether to just hand off or rip the ball back and keep it himself takes too long. You can literally see the defense closing in to blow up the play before it has a chance and it always seems to take eons for Josh to make a decision. Sometimes to the point where the RB has to stop and wait for Josh to decide one way or another. The Jets defense is too quick at getting behind the OL for these types of plays. If running the ball, you have to let the RB scan the field and hand off while he's still in motion. There can be no hesitation. If the play is a pass the design should be to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible. Again no hesitation. It's fine to fake a hand off to get the defenders to bite but it should be smooth and without that hesitation that comes from an RPO. Not that the RPO can't work. It can, but they should only be used very sparingly.
  15. I think you are missing the point. The whole reason for adding another TE was not to take away from Knox. It was so the team can run more 12 personnel. Putting 2 TEs on the field means that one of those TEs will be covered by a linebacker. That's a mismatch for both Knox and Kincaid. It also opens up the playbook and allows for more diversity. Both TEs will get their shots and I see the TE position getting more targets because of the mismatch.
  16. I think the TEs are going to go off in this game. 12 personnel is going to be a problem for the Jets. Quick hitting timing routes and not knowing who stays in to block and who runs a route. Is it going to be Knox or Kincaid? There may be some screens to TEs or RBs. There may be a couple of dump offs to the slot. Then watch that safety start creeping closer and closer. That's when one of the outside WRs will run a go route deep and the TEs will stay in to block. The Jets may have a fine defense, but there are just too many weapons to cover. I think Josh finally learns to take what the defense gives him and works his pieces into the game with short passes and timing. The Jets will be stunned by this, make adjustments to the defense then the deep ball will open up. You don't try to beat the Jets in a trench war. Use your speed, use your head. The beauty of giving the TEs a bigger workload, is that they can also dish out some punishment by simply being bigger than the secondary players that have to tackle them. I'm looking forward to the game. Maybe I'm way off base, but I don't think the 5000 pass yard per year Josh Allen is going to stand for another depressing stat line against this team.
  17. Quick pass to Kincaid, but instead of over the middle, he acts like that is what he'll do, but instead breaks toward the sideline. Josh hits him in stride and he turns it up-field for a nice gain.
  18. The Bills will Blitz only occasionally. The reason they don't do it more is because it leaves one less person out in coverage. Do it too much and then it becomes expected and any decent QB will find his dump off target before the D can get there. One thing I like about when the Bills do blitz, it's always a surprise and more often than not, it works very well. Everyone who is wishing for more blitzes, careful for what you wish for. I do believe McD will take more chances than Frazier, but only minimally. I would like to point out though that there is a very good chance that McD may not have to blitz more to be successful. Von Miller wasn't the only injury along the defensive line. There were other key contributors that missed time. Also, it is not out of the realm of possibility that some of the young talent on the line have a break out season. I believe the defense could very well be more aggressive without the need for sending a blitz. If this Dline stays relatively healthy this year, it is going to appear that they are more aggressive, but with less of a need to blitz often.
  19. I think this is will be the case until the defense starts leaving one deep safety out there instead of two. Then Josh is going to take his deep shots. Then there is the multitude of receivers that can play the slot and Kincaid. The defense isn't going to be able to have 2 high safeties. One of them will start creeping up and then Josh will have them right where he wants them. If the running backs are successful that's just gravy.
  20. Could be a while before we bring him up from the practice squad. Takes time to learn that position.
  21. Bills finally get a break with injuries during the season. 14-3, #1 seed and on to the Superbowl. And then lose to SF, heartrendingly after Josh goes down with an injury in the 1st qtr.
  22. One thing standing out like a sore thumb all throughout the preseason has been kickoff and punt return. No one has impressed. The loss of Hines was huge and needs to be fixed asap. We need a return man....bad.
  23. You go to tv.youtube.com and select it there.
  24. I believe the coaches are intentionally putting the players in stress situations in preseason to see how they handle it. For instance, did anyone notice that on every single received kick off, the ball was brought out of the EZ, rather than taking a touch back? I also believe the middle linebacker was left without guidance by the coaches even though he has a headset in his helmet, to see how he would handle getting the defense lined up on his own. There are many things going on while the coaches are evaluating talent. With only 3 preseason games, the coaches have less time to figure out who stays and who goes. It was very clear that the defense was not lined up properly on a few calls. On offense, I don't know what was going on. The penalties were absolutely atrocious. I'm thinking all of these guys bouncing back and forth and playing with a different QB with a different voice and cadence is causing issues, but that's just speculation. They certainly have much to clean up. Barkley has been running 3rd string offense and it was clear he wasn't quite in sync with the 2nd string receivers. 1st string laid a huge egg with penalties and turnovers. Really concerned about the OL. A tackle retiring and another one injured. They're going to have to pick someone up off of another team's garbage heap soon.
