Another one - Trey Hendrickson asks for a trade from Cincy
mannc replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
First round picks don’t always work out (obviously), but every GM thinks their future first round picks will be great…and you are getting a young, healthy, cost-controlled player for at least 4 years. As these contract values keep exploding, first round picks will become even more valuable… -

Pretty sure no one has offered even one first round pick yet for Hendrickson…too old, too much money. -
In fairness, I still think there is a good chance the Bills go DL with the first pick…
-
Cooper still has something left in the tank but I think the Palmer signing takes him off the table for the Bills…WR5 is going to be a draft pick or a low-priced FA who plays special teams.

And this is how we got jumped for McDuffie...

And that may very well be the Bengals’ strategy. If so, I don’t think it will end well. -

I agree that the Bengals have not handled it well, but I don't think it's possible for them to lock up Higgins, Chase and give Hendrickson a new deal, so they've got to make a choice. Other teams know that, which of course reduces the Bengals' leverage... -

Not trying to defend the Bengals, who are a garbage organization, but why should they be in a hurry to deal Hendrickson? Why not demand a ransom for him. They can't afford to sign Chase, Higgins and Hendrickson, but those first two deals haven't gotten done yet, so they still have leverage. Maybe the Bengals think someone will offer more for Hendrickson closer to Draft Day...there's no reason for them to be in hurry, unless I'm missing something. -
Yep. The only thing worse than those threads is the “What could we get in trade for Josh Allen?” threads.

Joey Bosa signs with Buffalo. 1 year, $12.6 million
mannc replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok, I just recall seeing him lined up a lot on the left side… -

Is Bosa not primarily a left DE? Kinda want to see Groot get the reps on that side… -
That is what he thought it was going to be, but he was still excited about it on today’s pod.

Don’t really understand why the Chargers let him go…if there were any actual Chargers fans, we could ask them…

Joe Marino was/is a big fan of this signing.

Every year the same thing happens on the first couple days of free agency: The crappy teams make a bunch of splashy signings; Bills fans get upset that we didn't sign one or more of these big names; and the following season, the crappy teams are still crappy, despite the big name signings, and the top teams like KC, Baltimore, Buffalo, etc are still at the top of the heap...

We can only hope...

Important reminder that the word “resigns” means almost the opposite of the word “re-signs”.

Josh Allen gets record contract extension $330 million
mannc replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
By the time Josh hangs ‘em up (at age 40 or so) the NFL will be a flag football league. -
Browns ink Myles Garrett to an Extension
mannc replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
How do you know? Sounds more likely that the the Browns were just not going to trade him… -
Greg Rousseau Extended (4 years / 80M / 54M Guaranteed)
mannc replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. He’s a good young player, if not a star. There’s still upside to be tapped. And if we let Groot walk, we’d have another big hole to fill. No-brainer. -
Thoughts about older draft eligible players?
mannc replied to OldTimer1960's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it depends on the position…I’d have no issue using a high pick on an older, more experienced QB…more of an issue at edge, CB or WR, where you’re really looking for someone you’re going to want to sign to a second contract and their age will work against them by the time the rookie deal expires…for the same reason, I’d not hesitate to draft an older RB (like Ray Davis) because you’re probably not giving him a second contract anyway.
