Like most games, but in particular this one, I think it comes down to the trenches. Whichever team can effectively get pressure on the opposing QB while limiting the running game will probably come out the winner. I’m a little nervous about how much pressure our O-line has been allowing. We’ll see if the D-line can hold up against the Chiefs attack.

I’d be a wee concerned if Taron is also unable to play, but we’ll see.

Sure, of course, but with 2 firsts next year and 2 firsts the year after, that's potentially a lot of draft capital to work with that maybe a lot of others (particularly those in need of a QB) don't have.

Did I hear Cunningham is out this week due to COVID?

I was there with my dad. One of the things my dad hated more than anything was the traffic and battling the crowds leaving the stadium after games, so whenever we went to a game we always had to leave a little early to beat the rush (unless it went down to the finish, which back then in the 70s and 80s it rarely did). That game, when it came down to the end and the Jets were about to kick the game-winning FG, my dad made us get up and start walking up the stairs from the lower bowl so we could get out of there fast. I made him stop at the top of the steps so we could watch the kick, and...boom. Smerlas saved the day. So of course, I made him walk back down to the seats so we could sit back down and watch the rest. I remember saying to the people around us, "We're back!" Good times.

We played nickel defense 100% of the time against WFT. Good point, there. I'm still nervous to see how this defense holds up against a strong running team like TEN, CLE, even KC. We'll see.

Overall, I thought the defense played well. I was hoping we would get to the QB a bit more than we did, more like previous weeks. I'm not a stat hound looking only for sacks, and Heinecke was forced to move around a lot, which is good. That said, McDermott seems to agree...

I have no worries about this team overlooking the next game, whenever or whoever it is. This is a very disciplined, humble, hungry team. I do fully expect Daboll to install the QB sweep play again, though. I bet he is still livid that we didn't hit it when he called it in OT in the playoff game. It was the perfect play call at the perfect time, foiled only by the fact that 3 big guys couldn't block 1 DB. He *has* to want to try it again against this team.

Bills look to be in a good spot, but I wouldn't underestimate CLE and BAL. Those are two good, strong teams. And TEN is starting to look strong after that debacle in Week 1 (but we know what that's like).

Yes, looks like the plan was to rush 4 and drop 7, probably to make it harder for Heineke to find open receivers. In retrospect, it worked pretty well, given the interceptions and generally low output of their offense. If they were able to move the ball much better, I bet we probably would have started to see some blitzes. But the front 4 really wasn't able to get very close to him, which is a little concerning.
