The problem I think Beane has with drafting is that they think too much and end up getting too cute during rounds 1-3. They probably breakdown every down played by a guy and wonder if they could’ve coached him differently to get more production and if factors XYZ would allow this. Sure, this is “next level” thinking, but sometimes you just need to go with the obvious guy who is already producing. I think this is what happens in the later rounds.
