  1. i would assume that this means anyone can make and sell "official" washington gear without threat of being sued. edit: kiko beat me to it.
  2. sometimes it's a pretty bad thing: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1017582/Ronaldo-hiding-Brazil-incident-prostitutes-ends-transvestite-facing-charge-extortion.html
  3. looks like the politicians in albany are anti-family fun: http://www.buffalonews.com/feed/bills-push-for-11-am-beer-sales-fails-to-win-support-in-albany-20140617

  5. did you hear that this guy went to harvard? that's nutty.

  7. i think eddie murphy said it best when he sang, "put a boogie in your butt."
  8. his notion that it's up to the people using the rascist term to determine whether or not their target should be offended is so ludicrous that i have to believe he's just trolling at this point. then again, i'm one of those pc, bleeding heart, media-loving liberals who would probably start whining if they named the local grammar school after a kkk grand wizard so what do i know?
  9. cool...thanks for the intel. i'll have to check them out.
  10. i don't think you have to lie. all you need to say is that it's too expensive and you were wondering if they could do anything to make it more manageble. the people i get over there always seem pretty receptive to that line of conversation. but that might be because i've been a customer for so long.
  11. i just moved to raleigh and my new place doesn't allow direct tv, but i have had it since around 2000. since they auto-renew it every year, i just call up and say it's too expensive and i want to cancel. they always immediately drop it to around $125-150. i have heard of people getting it completely free but that has never happened for me (aside from the first year i got it). maybe i need to develop an elaborate lie (like saying i lost my job or something). also, while i have them on the phone, i always ask if there are any other promotions i should be aware of. usually they'll drop my hbo by like $10 a month for 6 months or something.
  12. i get a feeling that dareus is good for one more, but he has gotta up the ante. my money's on him shoplifting a salad spinner and bamboo hamper from bed, bath and beyond. or maybe getting a dui while piloting a riding lawn mower on the scajaquada during rush hour.
  13. exactly. marshall was a straight up rascist who was likely behind the banning of black players in the '30's and '40's. and the only reason washington eventually drafted a player in the '60's was because the government forced them to (yes, apparently politicians can get involved in sports). before rushing to the defense of marshall and the "honorable" tradition of washington i suggest reading this book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/0807000825/ref%3Das_at?tag=thedailybeast-autotag-20&linkCode=as2& if you don't have time for that, here's a decent summary: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/06/01/the-racist-redskins.html and if you don't have time for that, this passage is probably enough: When George Preston Marshall died in 1969, he left some money to his children but directed that the bulk of his estate be used to set up a foundation in his name. He attached, however, one firm condition: that the foundation, operating out of Washington, D.C., should not direct a single dollar toward “any purpose which supports or employs the principle of racial integration in any form.” Think about that. This was not 1929 or 1949. Even in 1960 such a diktat might have been, well, “understandable” in a Southern city such as Washington then was. But 1969; “in any form.” This is the man who gave the Washington Redskins their name. He was one of the most despicable racists in the American sporting arena of the entire 20th century. He thought Redskins was funny, just as he thought the war paint and feather headdress he made the head coach wear were funny.
  14. i prefer foosball to futbol but football is the best!
  15. that's a misrepresentation of his argument. he also cited tradition.
  16. i'm stunned that the usc trojans weren't included in that list.
  17. this is insane. ed rutkowski is probably, like, 70 years old now. even if you you subscribe to the "70 is the new 40" adage, he would still be among the oldest quarterbacks in the league! i'm as nostalgic as the next guy, but this strikes me as a "marv levy as gm"-type move. it reeks of desperation. there have got to be better options!
  18. it's hard to throw practice passes in the nfl.
  19. it's hard to make chicken salad from chicken poop, but good coaches can at least make it edible. crossman made it worse. the teams he coached in carolina and detroit were mediocre at best -- and usually just bad -- so buffalo's performance last year was par for the course. i'm with the crew that believes the only thing keeping crossman in the nfl is his friendship with marrone (since it certainly ain't his ability to coach 'em up).
  20. was he hunting down doritos?
  21. a simpler solution would be to dump crossman.
  22. i just dug up one of my old tweets from '89: "saw jim, thurm and 'dre at the ballet last nite! snagged dollar thurm used onstage. #billsmafia #mintswave #swag" here's another (non-bills related): "@ediebrickell i'm going through puberty can i get a retweet??? #whatiamiswhatiam #newbohemians4eva"
  23. this was my selection as well. the other appealing part of a jacobs ownership is that there's a built-in succession plan via his children. it would be a relief to have some long term stability (without fear of the team moving) for a while. of the rest of the candidates, golisano and pegula are the only ones i'm confident will not move the team. and trump is a douche.
