the existence of a single white mascot doesn't invalidate the notion that numerous native american mascots are racist or offensive. generally, i think it's up to the impacted party to determine whether or not they are offended by something. i've never heard anyone complain about the notre dame name/mascot and know of no effort or movement to change it. in fact, my irish friends seem to think it's cool. regardless, just because irish people are not offended by the notre dame mascot, it doesn't mean native american groups can't be offended by the redskins. it's a false equivalency.

let me get this straight...21 year old dude who is just a few hours away from becoming a millionaire professional athlete (and enjoying all the spoils that entails), decides now is the perfect time to get committed to his girlfriend? if this isn't a red flag i don't know what is.

i'd like to believe that this would happen -- mainly with brandon, not so much with marrone (yet) -- but am not entirely convinced. i could totally see pegula being slow to the trigger as long as they win more than 4 games. still, given the ownership uncertainty i wouldn't be surprised at all if the current regime took a moonshot. if it paid off and the team made the playoffs, they'd be viewed as geniuses. might be tough to drop the ax on the dudes who finally ended the playoff drought.

let's not rush to judgment and assume this is bad. it's entirely possible he was just arrested for something like...speeding. because he was late for a meeting with marrone. and he didn't want to get suspended for the first half of our first preseason game. when you think about it that way, it actually reveals a lot of maturity and personal growth on his part. i'm proud of the kid.
