  1. The problem was that 6-7 years ago there wasn't an engineering study that said the stadium was feasibly beyond repair. Once a safety issue was introduced it was a much easier sell than in 2015.
  2. Time to send that Ford to the junk yard.
  3. Baker? 1st day is his wife & him moving into a new stadium.
  4. They should make a deal with McKinley Mall for extra parking with shuttle buses.
  5. The team is prohibited from speaking to any other municipalities until September so all the paperwork can be done without other municipalities trying to beat it with a better offer before all the legal stuff is finished & signed.
  6. My TV froze before Smith got on the stage. The odds that my TV had a glitch right at that moment are pretty low. Now I don't know if it was my local station or Verizon doing the censoring, but I never saw the slap because my TV was frozen.
  7. I don't believe it was staged. In my broadcast it was edited out with an Oscar logo, but that may have been my local Albany station doing that since I've read stories where the person sounds like they saw it live. So did some see it live & others didn't? At the time I had no idea what happened and had to find out after the show on the internet.
  8. I watched it live and they didn't show it. 1st my tv kind of froze, then they showed a screen shot that said Oscars. They showed a little of Smith cursing out Rock but there was no sound. Obviously they had something like a 7 second delay and never showed what we can see on the videos above on the early posts of this thread.
  9. It may not have been a forgone conclusion after his rookie year, but after his 2nd year he was entrenched as the Bills QB, in spite of what the stat boys thought. He still had to clean up his deep passes after the 2nd season, but anyone who was watching every game & still questioned who was going to be the Bills QB the next 10 years wasn't paying much attention.
  10. McCarron was bad in camp, then got hurt in preseason & was behind Peterman, which annoyed McCarron. Rumors are he didn't want to be a backup to Peterman. Peterman was bad in the opener & got benched in the 3rd quarter. After that the Bills named Allen the starter before he got hurt in Houston & missed 4 games. Then after Peterman failed again when he replaced the injured Josh in Houston, the Bills brought in Anderson & then Barkley. Here are some quotes before regular camp from Bills Digest indicating McCarron was unimpressive in mini-camp: 1. Who will win the starting QB job out of training camp? CB: I believe it’s going to come down to two candidates —Josh Allen and Nathan Peterman. Peterman was the most consistent QB in the spring. Provided he stays on that same track, I think he’ll be the starter in Week 1 unless Josh Allen comes on faster than anticipated. It’s clear the Bills brass doesn’t want to throw Allen to the wolves right away, but if he shines in the preseason he could get the keys to the offense. AJ McCarron just hasn’t impressed and doesn’t measure up in the leadership category to the other two. ML: I never thought I’d be saying this a few months ago, but I’m going with Nathan Peterman. I thought Peterman was quietly having a good spring before ramping it up a notch at Buffalo’s final spring practices. He’s throwing the ball with more velocity and precision and looks like a different quarterback from last year. He’ll need to keep that up, of course, and can’t fall back when it comes to turnovers. But he’s my pick heading into training camp.
  11. I just looked up delusional in the dictionary and there was a picture of Johnny Manziel. Either that or he's stealing Hue Jackson's act.
  12. Mock drafts before mid-late April are worthless because pre-draft rosters aren't set yet. You can take any February 2022 mock draft and throw it out, since so many high picks have been traded this month. As the mocks get closer to the 1st day of the draft they can be more valuable, However, you have to evaluate your source-for example Mel Kiper tends to make his mock drafts based on his ratings rather than who might realistically be picked. He kept mocking Josh to Cleveland because Josh would have been his pick if he was drating for Cleveland. One time I found a list of many mock drafts compiled in 1 place. In 2018 there were a lot of mocks that had the Bills trading up for Josh. Some were due to the fact it wasn't a well kept secret who the Bills wanted among the media. So the mock drafters who have good sources & don't apply their own biases are the best ones. I don't have any specific names, here's a link back to 2018. I stopped after looking at 36, 21 of which had josh going to the Bills. Once I got past the 1st page I figured it would take forever to open up all the mock drafts 1 at a time, but there's a ton of them here: https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-drafts/2018
  13. Once you even mentioned stats you lost me. I hate opinions backed up by QB stats, because stats don't tell me anything. Let me tell you what i SAW. I saw glimpses of brilliance, which is what I look for in a rookie QB. I saw a team that was devoid of offensive talent that as a rookie, Josh carried to 5 wins in 11 starts and it should have been 6 if Peterman didn't lose the Houston game for him. 5 wins in 11 starts with that team was almost a miracle. I saw him turn an obscure, undrafted WR, Robert Foster, into an NFL receiver. No other QB in the league, including Aaron Rodgers, has gotten anything out of Foster. After his rookie year, that you think was bad, I was so impressed that I made future bets on the 2019 Bills including making the playoffs and cashed every one. See, I watched him light it up against Miami in his rookie finale & because I'm not a stat slave, it reminded me a lot of another QB who had some rough times as a rookie & then the light came on at the end of his rookie year-Eli Manning. I still remember the people here in 2006 who didn't see Manning play proclaiming JP Losman was better than him-I told them they were very wrong because when I watched Manning play & watched JP play, Manning was a far superior QB. I guess the stat boys thought becauuse JP had completed 62.5% of his passes in 2006 & Eli had completed 57.7% that JP was better.
  14. I can't see Diggs playing this season with the Bills under his present contract. Right now he's keeping his mouth shut & letting his agent work behind the scenes with the Bills, but if he doesn't get a new deal he won't be playing the good soldier like he currently is. I think the posters who are saying just let him play this season without any adjustments are dreaming. Diggs isn't going to be playing under his current contract-book it.
  15. We must be winning the off-season. After yesterday's Hill trade the Bills are down to +375 to win the AFC at Caesars & +360 at Bet Rivers. My bet in February was at +425 to win the AFC. At the time Bet Rivers was +400.
  16. The smartest thing for Mayfield to do is to collect his $18+ million salary for 2022 and compete with Brissett for the starting job in Cleveland until Watson comes back from (a probable) suspension. Start the season & use it to get your next contract with a possible mid-season trade in the mix. If Mayfield can light it up early, it's a win-win for him & the Browns since he can be traded & sign an extension & the Browns can get a lot more than they can currently get. This works if both sides start acting like adults, which might be next to impossible.
  17. The irony is yes, Clausen was #1 for his draft year (Sam Bradford was 2nd, same grade 9.3), but that was in a bad QB draft. I went through Mel Kiper's guides from 1992 to 2013 (the final year he published a printed draft guide) and most years the top rated QB was higher than Clausen's 9.3. The top 10 appears to stop at 9.7, which I'm assuming is Josh's rating based on the fact that Tim Couch who was listed among the 5 below the top 10 had a 9.6 rating. Since both Manning & Leaf were 9.7s, and Luck was 9.8, it appears all top 10 except the top 2 all were 9.7s (I don't have Elway's grade). Kiper gets a lot of flack for Clausen, but in reality, Clausen is pretty low among Kiper's top QBs of their draft year. There are many above 9.3 who were not Kiper's top QB for their class.
  18. Here's an article Kiper wrote after the 2021 draft. He lists his top 10 rated QBs of all time. Josh is #10, 9th at the time of the 2018 draft. His top 10 are 1) Elway, 2) Luck, 3) P. Manning, 4) Lawrence 5) Kelly, 6) Ware, 7) Bledsoe, 8) Leaf, 9) Aikman, 10) Allen https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30920143/mel-kiper-highest-graded-quarterbacks-ever-nfl-draft-john-elway-ranks-first-1979-trevor-lawrence-makes-top-10 10. Josh Allen, Wyoming Draft class: 2018 Pick: No. 7 overall, Buffalo Bills What I wrote at the time: "Allen has crushed the pre-draft process and is in the mix to be the No. 1 overall pick. He has shown improvement at the Senior Bowl and at the combine, and he has a high ceiling. Allen is super raw but can really sling it. His numbers weren't great in 2016 (28 touchdown passes, 15 interceptions while completing 56 percent of his passes), and his numbers weren't great in 2017 (16 touchdown passes, six interceptions while completing 56.3 percent of his passes), but NFL teams will take into account the talent around him. The Wyoming offense lost 47 touchdowns from the 2016 team, along with its center. I think Allen's numbers will be much better in an NFL offense with NFL players. He put some strong film together in the Cowboys' bowl win, throwing three touchdown passes in the first half, even while recovering from a shoulder injury." Career notes: Allen broke out in Year 3 in Buffalo, completing 69.2% of his passes and throwing 37 touchdown passes with only 10 picks. He finished second in the MVP voting while leading the Bills to the AFC title game. Allen, who turns 25 this summer, has inserted himself into the top tier of NFL signal-callers.
  19. Seattle, New Orleans & Carolina with Jimmy Garoppolo & Baker Mayfield still having 3 landing spots available. A dark horse is Detroit as a 4th spot.
  20. Franchise QBs are rare. Just look at most teams' gaps between franchise QBs (Bills 22 years between Kelly & Allen for example). So, some teams have to settle for a starter who is not considered a franchise QB and feel it's better to have some semblance of stability than trotting out a different QB every season.
  21. Not stupid at all. Washington is hoping for a long term answer with Wentz. Wentz is 29, Ryan will soon be 37. Indy already knows they have to have a Ryan succession plan on the day he arrives, Washington has hopes they can bring out the best in Wentz. Indy is not a great front office-they gave up multiple picks including this year's #1 for a year of Carson Wentz & some lower picks from Washington.
  22. A veteran like Keenum can win us a game or 2 if Josh has a minor injury that keeps him out less than a month, a rookie or a developmental QB might not be able to do that. Those games could be the difference between home field advanyage & going on the road. As long as we're a Super Bowl contender, I like having a backup QB who has starting experience.
  23. The Colts are on their 5th starting QB in 5 years. They're treating the starter's job like the Bills have started to treat the backup QB spot-bring in a different veteran for a year. I suspect as long as the Bills Super Bowl window is wide open this trend will continue for the Bills. There's no need to spend draft capital on a rookie backup QB who would never be ready to start & won't really be able to develop into a reliable backup behind Josh.
  24. He's an unrestricted free agent.
