Advice dealing with local government
4BillsintheBurgh replied to 4BillsintheBurgh's topic in Off the Wall Archives
School administrators for now, I will be talking to them. At best, we hopefully will use the fields for the older kids. I just found out about this today and the season kicks off April 7th. Oh, there might be some insurance issues, but hopefully we can work that out. Insurance companies are running the world anymore. -
Advice dealing with local government

Not aware of a process, we had some issues a few years ago and the township manager stood behind our use of the fields. He has been helpful so I'll probably start there. I know there is a process for other rental's in the park, maybe I can get the township to agree to something where we can have our exclusive use somehow put in writing, thanks. -
Advice dealing with local government

I think our township has like 7,000 residents, we have been in on the natural gas fracking boon in the area so there really isn't a great need for the cash. I'd almost liken this to providing local government services to another area and leaving your area short on services. Really in the end, I don't know what a solution would be. They knowingly took away time from our kids and gave it to kids from outside the area. So they're making a decision that is based on money and not (as far as I am concerned) helping the local families who are their constituents. It's just kind of a dick move, and it's not the first from this rec board and it won't be the last. It really just sucks since we're all volunteers trying to give these kids a decent experience and it's a struggle where it doesn't need to be. -

Advice dealing with local government

Here in western pa there isn't a whole ton of flat land around. I have an acre but it's better for sledding than for soccer. I used to fantasize about winning the lottery and building my own fields for the kids so I wouldn't have to deal with those *********. -

2 grand is on the low side and does not include traveling to tournaments ($400+ per). It is for the entire year and you get a lot for your money, but a lot of those type of clubs have their own fields. I will look into the high school field but that will only take care of the older kids, the ones that can play 11v11. In a perfect world the power is with the taxpayers, but trying to get enough of them irritated and showing up to a township meeting sounds like a monster task. People like to B word but when it comes time to do something there is usually a litany of other things to do. Which in turn is why government sucks. -

We have been using these fields since probably the early nineties, maybe the 80's. It's not like we're from another area and are just paying to use them. The park is local and being used by local kids. -

Sure, it's just screwing your local kids, and in turn the local schools because if my local club can't function then the school teams won't have a chance to compete. I wouldn't mind so much if they at least put the money back into the fields, or in some way, shape or form find a way to the local club. It's like dealing with a different township instead of one where you'd think you would be taken care of. -

It might be a possiblity, that's a good idea, but their kids' parents are paying $2,000+ per year for their kids to get professional coaching so I don't know if they would want to spend that time scrimmaging us. Nice, I will consider it. -

I just didn't know if I should go to the state rep or stick with the local township board first. I almost feel like I should just go to the state guy. -

Not really a possibility for the most part, the time issue becomes squeezing all the teams (9 between 3 fields) in. Plus the wear and tear on the fields, which again all the rec board does is to cut the grass. I wouldn't be so pissed if they put some effort or gave us the money to keep up the fields Depends how you look at it. The township park is funded by tax dollars; the parents of the kids pay the taxes. The other club is paying the rec board. -
Just hoping to get a little advice regarding dealing with local government. The situation is this: I am involved with a local soccer club that uses our local townships park fields for games and practice. This spring the recreation board has decided to rent the fields Monday and Tuesday nights to competative club so our local club will not be able to practice on them. While I realize the board can do what it wants I would like to push back through our township board and am looking for advice on how to do that. As one of many volunteers it kind of sucks to get 40% of our possible practice days taken away and the local club gets nothing but cut grass from our recreational board. I appreciate any help/advice on where to start. My first thought is to go to the township manager and probably a township board meeting but I'm wondering if I will need to go higher. Thanks.

I do think there is a better shot of JA developing his game this year given the changes to the qb room, but I don't see how he's going to curb everything he's learned to become a qb that will know and take what the defense is giving him. Usually that is in the third season. Beasley will help, Brown will help, but I think if that's what we end up with I think the coaching is going to have to bridge the gap so that revamped qb room is going to have to produce.

Bills 53 offensive line projection
4BillsintheBurgh replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given it seems we have two left tackles and no natural right tackle I think it makes a lot of sense to draft a right tackle early if the value is right. Interior can wait until the later rounds or even not at all since so many guys are position flexible. Hopefully a couple of the short term guys step up and earn bigger contracts for 2020 and beyond. -
What am I missing about Jared Cook?

Seems like a Benjam-esque thing to do. I imagine Gruden was not interested in bringing him back after that one. -
What if Metcalf is BPA at draft time?

Seeing the board would be interesting, but I would prefer to be in the discussions building it. Just vetting these guys out, what's important to them and what's not. For example, the beginning of last year it seemed Beane was acquiring bigger guys, then admitted speed was really the thing we need. I assume that's mainly Daboll pulling him, but when you look at a guy like DK with both speed and size, put him with a young qb who could get in the habit of throwing that way, that seems to me to be pretty huge. Might be worth the chance to see if he can take all that potential and become a professional football player. If he pans out I would have to think that's our "big" acquisition on offense and pretty much gives us a really good group of wr's. TE in the second, maybe irv smith, and I think the offense will be able to compete. -

You can look at the video yourself, just go under his results and there is the playlist of video's. While he could be a look like tarzan play like jane guy, considering the chances we took last year on physical specimens I won't be surprised if he's the guy. I'm going to say if he trains for the drill a little more he will also take the time down. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/d.k.-metcalf?id=32194d45-5436-3377-5806-d2746f1b94aa -

I won't be surprised if he trims some time off the low numbers at his pro day. Looks like he had a little trouble with his footing at the combine. With the size/speed combo someone will take a chance on him. I would not mind putting him in there with brown and beasley, would could cover the entire field in half the time it would have taken our top three wr's last year. I have a funny feeling Zay is going to look really slow in the preseason games if DK is brought in. -

He would be a nice security blanket for Josh, just don't know if he'll be the best talent on the board at 9. -
OT Ty Nsekhe (Redskins) to the Bills
4BillsintheBurgh replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems like he'll be a top 5 lineman on our team and will be able to any position except center. Good signing to keep teams guessing on our draft strategy. Even if we get d williams there will be room for him somewhere along the line.
