  1. A lot of times a "sophmore slump" can be attributed to giving the second year player (and qb) more to think about. Increasing the playbook, asking him to read the defenses, etc can lead to paralysis. Whether this is a factor here I don't know. Then there's the concussion, the turnovers plus the confidence in the pass blocking. The coaching staff should have identified the problem by now and should be setting TE up to succeed. Maybe Turk and Van Pelt are learning to handle a young qb as well, I don't know how much experience they have in this situation. Either way, TE needs to keep improving and you're correct, he needs to be the starter if he is going to get better and get the team behind him. In the end I hope this is a neccessary step in his development, although much to everyone's chagrin it may take into next year for him to really "get it". Defenses are sitting back and daring TE to read and beat their coverage, he has to take up that challenge and make it happen. It's not going well at this point, but the key is improvement.
  2. And one of the main reasons Cowher has such a poor post season record is the Pats*. It won't help to play them twice a year guaranteed.
  3. The coaches can help, but TE needs to make it happen himself. If he wants to lead a team, he needs to be able to bounce back from this bad play. Seemed like TE was most comfortable taking the check down, and that couldn't have been the primary read. Defenses will adjust and take the check down away from him. It will be TE's turn to adjust then, hopefully he will be able to. I really don't want to burn a high draft pick on a qb. KC is ranked 27th in passing yards per game and has only 6 sacks on the season, worst in the league. That should help this Sunday.
  4. Unfortunately that is how losing is justified - "if we could have just done that one thing..." and while we could have gotten it done last night, we didn't. We were down most of the game and luckily our special teams kept us in it. The difference in a teams talent in the NFL is razor thin - that's why these teams come from last place in a division to first in one year. Making the play or making the correct calls is the difference between winning and losing, and it seems we've been on the wrong end of those plays more times than not. It was a tough loss for me because of the missed kick, but it was a sign of where this team is. I guess we could still make the playoffs, but after this loss I'm hoping the young guys get some more experience this year and we make a run in 2009. Watching Jim Kelly on the sidelines last night, I was thinking if he owned the team there was no way we'd be playing Marty ball on that last drive.
  5. I think comes down to: Can Edwards put the poor passes behind him and throw the ball downfield? Can we not play Marty-ball at the end of the game? Can we get a center? Can Ellison make a play on a ball in the endzone? Can Corner get a sack when he comes off the corner clean? Can Ko make a play on the ball? Can McKelvin make a play on the ball? Can veteran d-ends not get taken in by the naked bootleg? Not that we needed all of these, but some of them would have been helpful. And yes, there are rookies in this mix, because to be a good team you need your backups to play at a high level as well. Nobody gets away from the injuries in the NFL, but some teams persist through them. Good teams find ways to win games. It should not have come down to Lindell making a 47 yarder, but because of his failure and many others that occurred during the game, we do not deserve to be in the playoffs because we are not good enough.
  6. How about the numbers from their second years, since the same number of games have been played. Which line is Trent's and which is Losman's? from nfl.com The underscores are an attempt to get everything to line up better. 7. Really the same thing (a sack) could have happened on the "beautiful" bomb that he connected on. While pretty, that throw was late, it should have been in the air 20-25 yards earlier. That's how you avoid sacks, not playing street ball and chucking it downfield as far as you can. It worked out because of the type of "talent" JP has.
  8. Not that I'm busting on you in particular because your thoughts are okay, but I corrected your statement above. Without the internet, a lot of people would be talking to their pets and parents instead of polluting unsuspecting individuals' ears. Gotta take the good with the "targeted to be ignored".
  9. Disagree. There was a show on tnt in the mid/late ninties that I thought was better. I think it was Vic Carrucci (sp?, the guy who is on the golf channel), James Lofton and Ron Meyer, if I remember correctly. They had a ticker running during the show that listed every stat for every player. Plus good insight, especially from Meyer.
  10. FWIW I heard on the news that they signed Najeh Davenport.
  11. Ummm... You're not suggesting run, run, pass are you?!?!?! Of course not, of course not. You're expecting the run, pass, run that works great all the time. Really it's about execution. You have to remember we are running a somewhat new offense this year and it will take time. Peters didn't help either. If we're not run blocking well now, then let's not do it until we're in the lead.
  12. The important time to be happy is week 16 and 17. I'm hoping for you, because they'll be a lot of happy Bills fans right along with you.
  13. Sounds like a young team learning and working things out. Enjoy the ride. At least we are on a road heading in the correct direction.
  14. Should be similar to what happened in Washington when Collins took over for Campbell under Saunders. All of a sudden the offense became competent. The question is how long Green will be in there and how much he will help the offense. The players will perk up if they are playing well enough to be in the game. Hopefully we'll cram the ball down their throat, win time of possesion and send them back to St L with another L. Seems like it's been a long time since I've thought the offense can drive the win instead of hoping the defense needs to lead the way. It's kind of nice.
  15. Someone just responded to you - thinking you were a Philly fan of course... GoJags4362seats (6 minutes ago) Report Violation For Falstaff in Philly- Lincoln Financial Field has a seating capacity of 67,594. Even with the seats covered at JMS, the seating capacity is 67,164. Do you get it now or do Jag fans again have to spell it out for uneducated, trash-talking, so-called NFL fans. The city of Jacksonville required that the stadium be built large enough to host the FL/GA game and the Gator Bowl. But that's too big for our market size, so the covers bring the seating capacity in line with the market. Maybe it's even too big, but we've always had to overachieve. Compare the market size of Philly to the market size of J-ville and see the comparable size of our stadiums. J-ville is doing pretty well when you look at it from an educated view instead of a stupid, smack-talk view. I wish ESPN would state these things so Jag fans wouldn't have to all the time.
  16. Don't forget there's a whole other side of the ball. The jags defense will try and step up for the problems on o, we need hold onto the ball.
  17. I just wished he had come in with enough time to get ready for week 1. Other than that, business is business. Sometimes business sucks.
  18. I don't know for sure, but he's probably referring to "picking the Bills" because he had multiple offers from teams after the draft, even though nobody actually picked him in the draft.
  19. Not yet, but he's circling the drain. He also clearly know's where he stands with regards to the rest of the DT's, just in case he thought being a 1st round pick was going to help him.
  20. And everyone else is going to follow their blueprint, that's all I'm saying.
  21. Plus teams are/were going to be bringing the pressure on Brady after that Super Bowl loss. I'm sure the tape of that was a hot commodity this summer.
