  1. You want your best five on the field. If Simmons can regain his form, I would say Simmons at RG with Wood at C is a better combo than Hangartner at C and Wood at RG. I would also like to see Butler on the bench as a backup. In my perfect world: 1st round LT, Levitre, Wood, Simmons, Bell/Meredith/Scott with Hangartner, Butler and the better loser of the Bell/Meredith/Scott bunch on the bench. This of course would mean that one of our young tackles gets to work over the offseason and is good enough to take the job away from Butler.
  2. I assume DJ was hanging onto Hamdan even though most of the rest of OBD didn't see much long term potential in him. Once DJ was gone, OBD went out and got someone with more potential although he will not be ready to play soon, taking a chance that the more talented player is better for the long run. Not taking chances seemed to be the hallmark of DJ, but in any case the future coach would rather have more talent to choose from than less. I actually think this was a very good move although it is certainly not a high impact one at this point.
  3. While you don't want to overdraft a position, we had room for him. I would have taken J stewart and Revis over Lynch and McKelvin. In the end, the team MUST hit on their 1st round draft picks, regardless of the position. I would say it is better to take someone you think will be a stud instead of someone who has some issues but you hope can be coached up or whatever to work on your team. In the end, I think our draft last year was outstanding because we were able to get some decent linemen as well as take a db who is an impact player so far in his career. Hopefully Maybin will develop and Wood will continue to play well. But if last years draft is any indication, you should be camping happily again.
  4. Can somebody help me here - where the f is number 51?!?!?!?! You know, the key peice to the tampa 2 defense?!? Defense T-A SCK INT FF D. Whitner 3-1 0 0 0 K. Williams 2-2 2 0 1 D. Florence 2-2 0 0 0 R. Corner 2-2 0 0 0 G. Wilson 3-0 0 0 0 J. Byrd 3-0 0 0 0 C. Kelsay 2-1 0 0 0 B. Scott 1-2 0 0 0 A. Schobel 1-1 0 0 0 A. Maybin 1-1 0 0 0 M. Stroud 1-0 0 0 0 R. Denney 1-0 0 0 0 A. Palmer 0-1 0 0 0
  5. I can't think of that many players who have come out of Tenn and really succeeded or dominated. Kearse came back after a bad time in Philly, I think Kevin Carter was there but didn't do much in other places and Haynesworth hasn't really been tearing it up. It seems to me Tenn's FO has done an okay job, but I think a lot of that success is because of Fisher simply because there haven't been a ton of difference making players in Tenn. I think he would be a great coach to have here.
  6. I assume he is running the scout team offense at this point, so he has to learn a few of the oppositions plays each week. I think that would make it difficult for him to learn our offense, even as simple as it is, and give him a fair shot at competing on Sundays. He is a third qb and as such is developmental at this point. His chance to stay on the team will be in the off season and preseason next year.
  7. Just a note - your current mock draft round three has a bad link at the bottom of round 2, it tries to send you to round3.asp but the page is actually at round32010.asp.
  8. You do realize that the Toronto deal and possible subsequent deals may be one of the major factors for a new ownership group keeping the Bills in Buffalo, don't you?
  9. There's one name that has the most say, and that's Buddy Nix. Pick a winner Bud.
  10. Have you seen the offense he's working with? He should have said he was hoping for a field goal...
  11. Do you think Dockery's (7 for $9 mil) and Walker's (5 for $25mil) contracts preseason in 2007 didn't have an affect on Peters? What about the money they paid to Schobel and Kelsay, heck even Josh freakin' Reed signing a 4 for $10mil deal in 2006. I think the Bills clearly defined Peters' value to the team with those moves. Whatever, it's over, but there is plenty of evidence as to why Peters was "all about the money" with the Bills in 2007/2008, regardless of the people who think OBD did a great job to get some picks for him. I'm sure we'll be able to replace that talent and get a top notch qb and play making lb and run stuffing dt in this draft and FA just like we always do.
  12. The only thing that bothers me about this is that the quote reads this: "Browns owner Randy Lerner is looking for the next Bill Parcells to rebuild his football organization and make all the decisions." instead of this: "Bills owner Ralph Wilson is looking for the next Bill Parcells to rebuild his football organization and make all the decisions."
  13. We would have had to pay Peters or anyone else decent more to stay. That's what happens when your front office is more interested in the bottom line than winning. It really comes down to creating a team here rather than blowing things up every four years or so. Whether Peters was worth the money or not there was no quality plan for replacement of the three decent lineman that were gotten rid of from last year, regardless of those guys contracts. Good teams replace players by bringing in more talented people, not by dropping them and hoping the camp fodder on the roster will make do.
  14. I think it's too early for changing much astro. Hopefully there'll be bigger changes down the road once the dust settles in January.
  15. Seems like Leach is to coaching what Russ Brandon is to being a gm.
